The SpaceThe small cottage is very cosy and decorated with many textiles and wares from around the world including Moroccan carpets, Burmese wall hangings, Peruvian & Shipibo textiles, Afghani rugs & basketry, topped with Yemen jewellery and Swat Valley furniture! Perhaps you like Tuareg camel decorations from Mali or woven saddle bags from Afghanistan and Iran, baskets from Western Deserts in Australia or pottery and weavings from the Amazon jungle... Whatever your fascinations, theres a story to go with them all!

As a fellow traveller I understand there are times when you just want a quiet space to retreat or perhaps want to socialise! Either is fine. I am contactable by phone if there are any queries during your stay. When I have time I am more than happy to take guests to some favourite local places in and around Cairns. The NeighborhoodGordonvale is a small town located on the Mulgrave river, known for its sugar cane production & home to the annual Great Pyramid Race.
The Indigenous tribal group for this region are called 'Yidinji' (pronounced ye-tin-jie).
The town has a supermarket, post office, police station, hairdressers, hardware store, a few pubs, parks, restaurants, chemist, doctors clinic, cafe, library, public swimming pool, golf course, sports fields, schools, a monthly market and more! There are public buses heading into Cairns city every hour. Getting AroundWithin walking distance from the house is the township. From there there is a bus that goes into Cairns city several times a day where buses leave for all other destinations. The Mulgrave river is a 15 minute ride or a 5 min drive for swimming, or the local pool which is located in the same street as the house - a 2 min walk away!
If you have a car its only 25 minute drive to Cairns city, 40 minute drive to the northern beaches, Tjapakai Cultural Park, SkyRail and other attractions.
Gordonvale is the gateway to the Gilies and Tablelands (approx 1 hour) as well as being close to many other iconic sites from 10 mins to 1 hour away!
Bikes can be provided for exploration around the neighbourhood!
