The SpaceThis 2 bedroom apartment has the best location in Portsmouth you can imagine! Less than 5 min walk from the main train and couch stations, beautiful views, high ceilings and exceptional interior, also the Spinnaker tower is just on your doorstep. It is a self-catering flat for 4-6 people to stay comfortably, but there is a possibility to place 8 people in the apartment (two double beds in bedrooms, a double sofa bed in a sitting room, also a single chair bed and a single futon mattress). If you are traveling with your family or friends, a self catering apartment is the best option to stay. There is a travel cot and a high chair in the cloakroom. I have noticed mentioned in some reviews that there are no proper heavy curtains. Just wanted to assure - yes, the curtains are serving more a decorative purpose, but there are blinds installed since 2015. I guess it is hard to spot them because of the high ceilings and big windows. Guest AccessTHE APARTMENT The apartment is situated on the first floor in a 2 floor building which is equipped with an elevator, and has two good size bedrooms - one of them has a four poster bed and a fitted mirrored wardrobe, another one is en-suite (toilet and sink). Stylish living/sitting/dining room with a dining table for 6-8 people to eat; wi-fi, flat screen TV with freeview channels, stereo station; also there is a football table you can enjoy playing! Good size bathroom with WC, a washing machine, an iron and an ironing board, a hair dryer. Kitchen is equipped with a gas oven/hob, a dishwasher, a microwave oven, a kettle, a toaster, a big fridge/freezer and all kitchen utensils. There is a travel cot and a high chair in the cloakroom. Interaction with GuestsI can show you around if I am free. Please ask if you need more information about Portsmouth - I love the city and I will be glad to tell you more. Please ask if you need a taxi to/from the airport. Of Georgian origin Battery House was completely renovated in 2007, to create a luxury house of 4 double bedrooms, 3 en-suite and a top floor living area with roof terrace, all rooms offering sea and harbour views. Situated in Old Portsmouth, on the corner of Battery Row and Grand Parade, Battery house is located in an area steeped in maritime history. Admiral Lord Nelson (Englands most famous Sea captain - whose ship HMS Victory is located in the historic Portsmouth Dockyard and still recognised by Her majesty's Navy as their figure head ship) takes pride of place in the centre of Grand Parade. Either sea and / or harbour views are visible from all rooms and from the front windows the ruined Garrison church( where King Charles II married in 1662) can be seen along with Lord Nelson's statute. The house is situated over four floors, with an open plan living and dining accommodation being on the top floor, with a further floor for the roof terrace. There is an open plan kitchen area within the living accommodation. Battery House is a feature building in the historic heart of Old Portsmouth overlooking The Solent, world famous for sailing and the entrance to Portsmouth Harbour, which is home to the British Navy. Within walking distance are the many museums of Portsmouth, including the Historic Dockyard where Nelson's ship HMS Victory is displayed and DDay museum. Further afield within the city is the birth place of author Charles Dickens. Southsea, with its beaches and Clarence Pier funfair is easily accessible on foot. Only a short stroll away, The Spinnaker Tower, located at the shopping and entertainment centre at Gunwharf Keys, offers spectacular views across the whole of The Solent region from its birds eye viewing platform. The Isle of Wight, clearly visible from Battery House, features many historic locations and sights of interest is a short ferry or hovercraft ride away(this is world's longest operating hovercraft route and one of the few remaining in the world), whilst Roman and medieval cities (Salisbury, Chichester, Winchester) are nearby, together with two national parks(New Forest, South Downs) and some of the most beautiful landscapes in England. Not only an ideal base for visiting the south coast, Portsmouth is only 90minutes by train into central London, making day trips to the Capital well within reach. This really is an ideal place for a vaction in England and yet easily accessible to London. Rates quoted inlcude VAT @20%(Value added tax), all linen and services as stated above 50% Deposit requried at time of booking (refunable in the event of cancellation, subject to terms and conditions) Please see Battery House web site for full terms and conditions of booking and stay. www.battery-house.eu Battery House is located in the historic heart of old Portsmouth,Portsmouth, Hampshire on the English South Coast and overlooking The Solent water and Isle of Wight. Situated away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre and harbour front, but surrounded by sea and cobbled streets. Portsmouth is one of Britain's medium sized cities, famous for being home to the British Navy and as a major ferry port steepd in maritime history. Badly damaged in WW2 the city has since recovered, rebuilty and rejuventated so that today it is rapidly becoming a leading tourist destination, helped by the new Spinnaker Tower, historic dockyard, including King Henry VIII's flagship "Mary Rose" (which sank overloaded in around 1545 in The Solent and is now on display in the Historic dockyard), as well it's glorious setting around the harbour and Solent. Being totally flat, Portsmouth is very easy to walk. Indeed nearly all the city sights are within walking distance and most other visitor attractions are accessible by train, ferry or hovercraft or bus, reducing the need for a car for those who wish not to drive. Even london is only 90 minutes away.
