The Space'Casa della Pace' means 'house of peace' in Italian, and that's what we hope and pray this special place is for our guests. Our two storey rammed earth house is nestled in an acre of landscaped gardens, on 50 acres of pastures and bush. The garden attracts many birds and kangaroos occasionally visit. Although you can only pay for one room on our listing, we actually have two bedrooms available. Both are roomy with comfortable beds and have lovely views of pasture, gum trees and distant hills. The bathroom is shared, with separate toilets upstairs and downstairs. Just let us know when you make your reservation if you want to book both rooms. You can pay for the second room when you come. Jan loves serving cooked breakfasts, or you can have more simple fare. There is a bistro and cafe in Crookwell but you are welcome to join us for dinner if you prefer ($25 pp). We love entertaining and would enjoy your company. This is a dog friendly house. We have three pooches who love a pat, and you are welcome to bring your doggie friend/s too. The gardens are fenced, and dogs are welcome inside the house. We also have two alpacas, four lambs and several chooks. Guest AccessGuests have access to the gardens and are welcome to use the kitchen to make a cuppa and snack. Interaction with GuestsSince these are rooms in a private home, guests share living spaces and meals with the hosts. The NeighborhoodWe are only 10 minutes from the friendly town of Crookwell, home of the Lindner Sock Factory which sells the most comfortable and long lasting socks you'll ever wear. The area is known for sheep and potatoes, and the scenery is gentle rolling hills and farms dotted with (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)s and dams. There are a number of other interesting towns nearby such as Gunning and Taralga, and many scenic drives. Historical Goulburn is 40 minutes away, and our nation's capital Canberra is only an hour and half from here. The Wombeyan Caves and the Abercrombie Caves are both about an hour's drive away. Getting AroundThe nearest train station is Goulburn (55km from Casa della Pace). There is a bus that commutes between Crookwell and Goulburn, but a car is the best way to get to us and see the district. Other Things to NoteEach of the two guest rooms accommodate two people (queen size bed in one room, and twin beds which can join to make a king size bed in the other). Please let us know if you would like to book the second room when you make your reservation and we'll let you know if it is available.

There is a shower bathroom for your use, and breakfast is taken in the farmhouse. The property is 100 acres, and comprises a number of different features. We are situated on the site of an extinct volcano, and are bounded on one side by the Bungonia Creek. We have the ruins of the old "Hit or Miss Inn" (c 1832) located in one of our paddocks. Guest AccessAll guests have unlimited access to the 100 acres that comprise our property. Spend time walking along the creek, exploring the vineyard -meet our Maremma and the babydoll sheep, or feeding the fish in our aquaponics system. There are even chickens to pet! Enjoy a glass of wine on the verandah overlooking the view, take a stroll through the vineyard, or (in winter) sit by the fire and warm your toes. Interaction with GuestsDepending on your level of interest in permaculture, you can enjoy the property just as a bed and breakfast, or we can offer you a permaculture immersion experience (all meals included) for an additional fee. With this option, you will have the opportunity to observe and participate in many of the activities involved in our holistic management / permaculture lifestyle, and you can ask as many questions as you can think of. Activities include: •Collecting eggs, harvesting vegetables, planting seedlings etc; •Wine tasting; •Helping feed the Maremma and the sheep (around 4pm daily); •Exploring the vineyard, moving the cows, and feeding the chickens; •There will also be plenty of free time to relax. You are welcome to relax on the deck, enjoy the country air, stroll around the garden and enjoy the peace and quiet – hopefully rested, rejuvenated and better informed in some of the delights of a life in the country. Please enquire about this when booking. The NeighborhoodBungonia is a small town 25km east of Goulburn. It is home to the Bungonia Gorge National Park, a mini version of the Blue Mountains, popular with hikers and cavers. It is a very quiet and picturesque place, steeped in local history dating back to 1832, when it was located on the Great South Road (now the Hume Highway). There is a pub and several cafes in Marulan (15 minutes away), and a selection of restaurants and actvities in Goulburn (30 minutes away). Getting AroundYou will need to have a car to get to us and to be able to visit the local sights. Other Things to NoteWe attend a farmers market in Bungendore on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month. On those Saturdays we are not back at the property until around 4pm so that is the earliest check-in time on those days

This room is basic with all you need including a queen bed. The house is shared with some lovely quiet people who keep things clean and tidy. Usual household facilities are available and you're welcome to make yourself at home. Single rooms available as well. Some people have complained about cleanliness despite the place being clean and tidy (I have no idea where they are looking) so if you're super fussy about that its probably best not to stay here. It is as clean as any other house.

Please note that ALL the people staying in the house -- adults, children and babies -- count as guests and must be included in the booking. Children and babies aren't free. The names and ages of all guests must be provided at the time of the booking. Extra guests will attract additional charges. Also note that our pricing already includes discounts for weekly and monthly stays and we do not offer further discounts. Please do not ask us for a quote for a booking becasue we cannot see the price Airbnb calculates for you. Guest prices include foreign exchange conversions, taxes and other fees that go directly to Airbnb and hosts never see these amounts. The cottage currently does not have broadband internet. We are waiting for the NBN to arrive. Until then the cottage has great 3G and 4G wireless reception so your phones and tables will work. The property has external security cameras and 24/7 monitoring.
