The SpaceThis is a place for relaxing, healing, writing, paddling, swimming, connecting with the natural world. It is a beautiful 5 acre property at the end of a long driveway surrounded on 3 sides by water. The closest neighbors are herons, egrets, osprey & eagles.
You have private access to a 2 bedroom, 1 bath apartment with living room / kitchen area. Sliding glass doors in bedroom & living area take you out to your private patio with a porch swing and eating area overlooking the river.
One queen bed, one queen futon.
Mini-fridge, toaster oven, burners, espresso machine, press-pot and stocked kitchen, ready for cooking!

This is a 2 story house. We have our own entrance upstairs and you have your own private entrance and apartment downstairs. Interaction with GuestsYou will probably see us on our deck, walking the land with Bonita (our dog), tending the chickens or canoeing down the river. We'd like to honor your privacy and need a bit ourselves. However, we're happy to direct you to the unique Saxapahaw events, restaurants and River Mill District. I also own a Circus / Dance Studio in Carrboro (20 minutes East). There are many great restaurants, bars, clubs and shops in Carrboro/Chapel Hill. The NeighborhoodWe live in Saxapahaw, a quaint river town, recently featured in The New York Times and The Washington Post. Historic mill buildings have been renovated to create homes and businesses along the Haw River. Saxapahaw is home to The Saxapahaw General Store, a 5-star gas station, The Eddy Pub, the summer farmers' market and music series Saturdays in Saxapahaw, Haw River Ballroom, The Bridge (Yoga & Healing Arts), PaperHand Puppet Intervention, The Haw River Canoe and Kayak Company, Benjamin Vineyards and Winery, a local coffee shop, Left Bank Butchery (featuring local, consciously raised meat) and Haw River Brewery. On Saturday evenings in the summer, enjoy live music, a beer and activities for kids at the farmer's market or Culture Mill.
It takes 15 min by canoe or 3 by car to access downtown.
Driving into our neighborhood, you'll pass acres of horse farm down a gravel road. There are only a few other homes on this road before you land at our Oasis. Please drive slowly. We'll send a map / directions after booking. Getting Around40 from RDU

You'll need a car to get here, but you won't want to leave once you arrive.
You can access park & rides or drive 20 minutes to UNC Chapel Hill or Carrboro. In CH, there are free buses around town and cheap buses to Raleigh/Durham. We are in Saxapahaw. You can take a short drive or canoe ride to downtown Saxapahaw. Other Things to NoteCanoes, Kayaks, life-jackets & paddles also available on-site upon request for the number of guests staying on the property.

Bonfire also possible in fire-pit by the river.
We cannot provide WiFi connection. However, phone reception and mobile hotspots work great here. Please consider using your phones (as I have) for a mobile hotspot or downloading movies ahead of time for your viewing pleasure. There is a coffee spot 4 minutes away with WiFi and a beautiful view of the river.
