The SpaceOur family built the cabin in 1950 with a major remodel in 2007. We are located on private property next to the North fork of the Stillaguamish river. This is an active river with plenty of Salmon and Eagles to see during the fall months. This charming, secluded cabin is perfect for couples who want a romantic weekend or families who just want to get away from it all. It is a 63 mile drive from Seattle and usually takes 75 minutes with no traffic. One master King size Bed. One Twin and one full size bunk bed plus three very soft leather couches in the living room. One leather couch is kid size the other two are adult size. Plenty of room for up to 5 tents outside. The second bedroom where the bunk beds are located has an open wall so no privacy. We also now have an inflatable double bed for sleeping next to fire in the living room. Build a fire, put your feet up and enjoy! Note: The Cabin has central heat so no worries if you don't want to build a fire. You'll find one IGA grocery store in the city of Darrington to stock up on provisions. The store is 5 miles away. There is also a small store at the intersection of 530 and Swede Heaven Rd. Just a 5 minute drive from the cabin. If you are in a hurry and don't want to cook they make a pretty darn good pizza. The entire cabin and property. Check in time is any time after 3:00. Check out of the cabin is 12 noon. Our guests have 100% access to the entire cabin. We do not live on premise. We keep our guest interaction to a minimum because most guests are looking for a secluded private place to relax and have fun. A day or two before our guests arrive we will email further directions and the location of the key to get into the cabin. The community is a collection of homes and cabins on wooded and riverfront acreages. We are located 5 miles west of Darrington Washington. Here's a partial list of what we have at the cabin for your use: hair dryer mobile fan complete kitchen with blender and toaster bedding towels Blankets for outside use next to the fire charcoal bbq soap and shampoo basic toiletries & first aid firewood - limited to two wheel barrow loads per day please. OK to get firewood from across the river when water is low. chairs two picnic tables Guest AccessGuests will have the entire Cabin to themselves. Interaction with GuestsMostly just email and texts. Available by phone if needed. The NeighborhoodSecluded private retreat. Getting AroundParking on property. Other Things to NoteHIKING? The Darrington Ranger Station is located about 6 miles away. 1405 Emens Avenue North, Darrington, WA 98241. They have tons of useful information. Also, they have converted the local train track to a hiking trail. Its located .7 (7 tenths of a mile) miles from the Cabin towards 530. You passed over it coming to the Cabin. Its flat and an easy walk. Fishing: The river behind the cabin is the “North Fork of the Stillaguamish” also called the “Stilly”. It is one of the oldest fly fishing rivers in the country and was the first ever designated "fly fishing only" river. Eight salmonid species use the streams for spawning, including chinook, coho, chum, pink, and sockeye salmon, steelhead trout, sea-run cutthroat, and bull trout. Advanced 10 day plus fishing licenses can be found at (URL HIDDEN) or within 10 days at GOLD NUGGET JEWELRY & LOANS, 1075 SEEMAN STREET, DARRINGTON, WA 98241(about 5 miles from cabin). Please check above web site for details and rule changes. Go here (URL HIDDEN) for year round calendar (Stilly is the river behind our cabin). Please double check all rules with state fisheries…..

The SpaceThe Lake house is a perfect place to get away and re-energize. Although there is Internet access, it can get spotty at times or need a reboot. Mostly its a place to just let go and relax. The internet doesn't reach the house, it's in the Shack. Guest AccessGuests have access to the Main house, lake and the Shack. The Shack is a shed we converted to living space. There is a Queen bed in the loft along with a twin bed in the loft. The sofa there also becomes a bed. There is also a TV and a mini fridge in the Shack. Please note that there are renters living on the property. They are Jake and Ashley and they have a dog(black lab) named Bobo They are sweet and the dog is friendly. They have their own living space. It is the first building as you come up the driveway. Interaction with GuestsI will always respond as quickly as possible. You can contact me anytime with any questions you may have. Please note that both of my properties ( we have a house in Kirkland only in the summer) are No Smoking and No Pets this is due to my allergies and personal health. Thanks! Bridget The NeighborhoodThe house sits on a peninsula. So there is water on both sides of the property. Getting AroundPublic transportation is farther away. There are many hiking trails in the area. It's 15-20 min to downtown Snohomish there are restaurants, antiquing and many other things to see. Other Things to NotePlease leave the house the way you found it. I have noticed that people like to move the furniture, which is fine, just please put it back when you are done. Also if you make a mess please clean it up. I have had a few incidents where quests have left food all over the floor, or they made spaghetti or something and splattered it everywhere and left it for me to clean up. Any additional help is always greatly appreciated. Thanks! Bridget

The SpaceThe micro cabin has a full kitchen with a small fridge, small oven, a microwave and a toaster. The stylish ladder leads up to the loft with a plush and cozy queen size bed. The loft is flooded with natural light during daylight hours. Decorated with attention to every detail, design lovers will appreciate the midcentury modern touches. It's breathtaking to look up at the sky and see the vast amount of stars that are almost impossible to see anywhere near city lights. Take a moment to be. Guest AccessGuests can take advantage of the property and explore the trail looping around behind the cabin. There is enough firewood stocked to use (during the summer) in the large fire pit and zero gravity chairs add to the relaxation around the roaring fire pit. The canoe is available to use at no extra charge. Guests must be able to transport to the lake and provide own life vests. Please note discovery pass is needed to park at the lake which is located 3 minutes away. Interaction with GuestsSatellite internet is available, guests are welcome to text, email and call me throughout the stay with questions and comments. I do not live on the property and do not visit during your stay to assure complete and utter privacy. :-) The NeighborhoodLocated on a dead end street ending with a small lake. A canoe is available for summer months (strap it to your car rack or throw it in the trailer). Or simply stroll to the lake to watch fly fishing or catch a rainbow trout for dinner yourself. Organic farms sprinkle the area and the drive is absolutely gorgeous. Getting AroundThere is plenty of parking on the property, a car is recommended to get around. There are casinos, shopping malls, breweries within a 50 mile radius. Other Things to NoteHot shower, fresh linens, fully stocked pantry, tasteful decor, soft blankets, smart TV, and yes, a slide. Because, why not? P.S. In addition to washing/ironing the linen, I wash all the blankets/throws between guests.

The SpaceSojourn is a TINY, Cordwood Cabin that offers ample storage, lovely views and unique amenities within its 200sqft footprint. The off-grid nature of the cabin provides rain catchment for dish water and bathing, an outhouse/ privy, a wash tub for bathing and dry sinks. It is located on a 46-acre Agroforestry Farm that is nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, within the Skagit & Sauk River Valleys. It is a 17-year permaculture experiment in creating long-term and sustainable food production by using food forest and permaculture principles that incorporate a wide array of perennial edibles from around the world. Our land includes a beautiful riparian forest, river and creeks, and small developed areas. Guest AccessBesides your own cozy cabin, you'll have access to the shared outdoor kitchen, library, swimming creek, as well as gardens and lots of edible forest to explore! There are a few miles of walking trails at the farm, which are predominately flat and accessible. You may also request an Intuitive Bodywork session ~ holistic massage and/ or spirit counseling. More information is available on request. Interaction with GuestsSojourn has a little extra privacy from the village, its location is on the outer rim of the area and backs up to the trees. With a rotating and seasonally changing cast of residents and guests, your experience might range from a quiet day alone in the village to a group of WWOOFers and other guests socializing in the common areas. Our farm is a working community which fluctuates between 3 and 8 residents and also hosts interns throughout the year. We all have variable schedules, so we may or may not be around during your stay. However, we will be there to greet you in person and show you around. In our absence, someone on the farm will be available to answer your questions. The NeighborhoodThe town is a small rural town, with little amenities. It is the natural beauty of the area that draws people in... Rivers, Mountains, Stars, Eagles, Elk, etc. The locals are friendly and accustomed to visitors. The farm is located within 1 mile of Rockport State Park and Howard Miller Steelhead Park, the Post Office and a pub. The nearby towns of Concrete and Darrington offer a grocery store, gluten free bakery, restaurants, and a movie house. This area is preferred by those looking to be in nature vs. the city. You will find small animals, birds, native plants and epic views to enjoy. Year-round adventures are to be had... whitewater rafting, hiking, swimming, fishing, Eagle watching, etc. Be advised that the local fire department often sends out a siren for the local volunteers. Please do not be alarmed as this is only to signal the firefighters to assist with a roadway accident, fire or other emergency. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation available. The nearby town of Concrete, WA does have bus service thru Skagit Transit. There are gas stations located in the towns of Concrete (West) and Marblemount (East) of Rockport. Marblemount is the last gas station prior to heading over the pass of Highway 20. It is encouraged to fill your tank before going over the pass, as there are no options until you reach the Methow Valley. Please note: Hwy 20 pass closes during the winter. Other Things to NoteOur rustic, off-grid lifestyle includes regular exposure to dirt, dust, mud, rain, insects, etc. The village is very quiet, yet it is also always evolving in some way and there will most likely be some sort of project going on as we continue to develop our vision!

The NeighborhoodDarrington is an old logging town that dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. It was originally founded as a stage coach stop for miners heading up the Sauk river valley to look for gold at Monte Cristo and other digs on the west side of the Cascade mountains near Glacier Peak, a 10,541' glaciated, dormant volcano that sits 80 miles from Darrington. After the gold rush, logging became the main economic thrust. Old growth forest surround the town and the rivers provided a means to get the logs to the mill that still operates today and is the backbone of Darrington's economy. The Hampton Mill as it is known today employs the majority of the town's workforce. It is not uncommon to see the mill workers walking to and from their jobs wearing traditional logging garb that includes bright red suspenders, heavy work trousers, checked flannel shirts and heavy high top boots. Many of the ancestors of these folk came west from North Carolina at the beginning of the 20th century. They came because the eastern forests where they lived had been cut and the company that owned the eastern forest land also owned the land around Darrington. The workers moved west to cut the virgin forests of the Pacific Northwest. Even today you can detect a little of the Tar Heel twang in the local speech. They also brought their skills at woodworking and moonshining both of which are likely still being practiced here. Getting AroundSnohomish County bus service to and from Darrington runs 5 days a week. You can check the county bus schedule for departure and arrival times. The Darrington bus circulates between the town and the Smokey Point bus terminal located near I-5 in Arlington, WA (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) the Snohomish County Bus website link for route 230. It is possible to get a taxi ride to Darrington. (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) for the company and phone. Most folks will arrive by car. The easiest way to find the house is to use GPS but if you don't have one you can easily find it as follows: Drive from Arlington, Wa on SR 530 directly to Darrington. Follow the route into town to a T-junction. There will be a Shell Station directly across the street from the junction. Take a right turn onto the Mountain Loop highway and drive until you see the town limit, about 3/4 of a mile. The speed will change from 30 mph to 45 mph. Continue on about a 1/4 mile and look to your left for a sign that says Begis Rd. Turn left onto Begis Rd. and follow it a short distance to a dead end. Turn left onto 473rd Dr. NE and right into the first drive way. You've arrived. Other Things to NoteThe town of Darrington has a full time fire and police unit provided by Snohomish County. There is an IGA supermarket about a mile away plus a Shell Station convenience store, a cafe and a little further on, a sports bar/restaurant. The town has a brew pub, the River Time. There is a pharmacy/gift shop along the main street and a great little cafe/bakery that makes pizzas, soup and sandwiches to go if requested. If hunting or fishing is your thing there is an outdoors shop across from the IGA that carries fishing and hunting supplies, clothing and sells the licenses for both. The town also has a traditional beer and wine bar, the, Red Top, plus a NAPA parts store and an auto repair shop next door. And yes, there is a US Post Office also. The Do It Center hardware store is a little further out of town along SR 530 and a Coastal bank with ATM is located in the same building. The USDA Forest Service Ranger Station is also located along SR 530 inside the town limits. There you can get all the info you need for hiking, climbing, maps, trail passes etc. The town has a book store and antique shops on the old town main street.
