The Space*Please read through all of the details so you get a good idea of what to expect while here. This is a unique opportunity to stay in an off grid green built building that was hand-crafted with help from the local community. The clay that makes up the walls is the same clay this sweet studio sits upon and the beautiful spruce rafters were harvested from the land. There is even a baby oak tree in the studio to mimic the larger one in the house, also from the land. The yurt is off the grid and solar powered so you can rest easy knowing the power you are using is coming straight from the sun and the water you'll be drinking and washing with is fresh and clean from deep underground. We even have high speed internet and great cell reception(if you have AT&T). You'll be completely surrounded by nature here and might even get to see some wildlife on your stay. The home backs up to thousands of miles of forest. There are some trails for walking and miles of dirt back roads as well as cross country skiing you can access right from the house and the VAST trail is very near for winter use. The studio yurt is in close proximity to the main house where the dogs and I spend a lot of time. But even though we're around often, please feel free to wander the land and enjoy your stay here. I want you to have a great time and get to enjoy the peace that off grid living can bring. Guest AccessThere is a small and clean outhouse with composting bucket toilet and small "sink" (basically it's a bowl under a jug with spigot) to use for washing up, etc. When I am home, showers are available in the main house, but because my house is off the grid power is limited so only a quick shower (or the lights will cut out on you!). Please also note that my house is small and very open, meaning there is no privacy and sounds carry. I'm home often so more than likely I'll be puttering around and so will my dogs. When you enter the main house, please be aware that my dogs will bark a lot and jump on you. They are sweet but rowdy. The room is equipped with a small fridge, hot plate, toaster oven and a coffee pot, but there is NO kitchen access in the main house. This is a vegan household so it's just easier to keep the kitchen in my home closed to guests. I supply coffee and sugar but no creamer (let me know if you'd like soy milk though). There is a fire pit(ask me if you'd like vegan smore's supplies!) and an outdoor gazebo with bbq that you can make use of while you are here. Also, please feel free to roam around and visit the goats(or walk them)and enjoy the land. And help yourself to anything in the garden! Interaction with GuestsI'm a friendly queer vegan guy and I especially love to connect with fellow queers, animal lovers and nature enthusiasts—but all are welcome! I am home often and will be happy to offer any help or Vermont travel tips during your stay here. The NeighborhoodThis is a sweet area with really nice people, although you probably won't see any of them. My spot is very private and the home sits right in the middle of the 25 acre lot. Getting AroundThe house is about 5 miles off of a dirt road which is well maintained but during winter and spring seasons it is highly advised that you have all wheel or 4 wheel drive. My driveway is long and steep and in winter can be tricky to drive up without 4 wheel drive. Other Things to NoteMy home also doubles as a small farm animal sanctuary. I'll ask that you treat the resident animals here with the utmost respect and care. Feel free to hang with the goats and play with the dogs though, they love attention. The yurt has electricity but no plumbing. You'll need to be okay with using an alternative composting toilet system. I completely clean out the toilet after every guest so there is no smell, but it's a different experience than flushing your waste. In this system you'll scoop shavings on top of your business to reduce odor and keep it feeling fresh with each use. And just toss the water you use for washing up in the woods behind the outhouse. Also, there is a small pond and you are welcome to take a dip in it (although it is very low right now and not really swimmable). You'll have to be okay sharing it with the ducks though! If you aren't interested in swimming in the pond I can point you to a lot of beautiful swimming holes and even a little lake nearby. If you are here during winter months, it is only a 20-30 minute drive to Sugarbush, Killington, Middlebury Snow Bowl, and Mad River Glen.

Located in the heart of the Green Mountains on ten acres. Mountain views and remote feel, but only 20 minutes from Warren/Waitsfield area or 10 minutes to Rochester. Ski or snowshoe out the back door or cozy up and watch movies on home theater with over 200 movies. New, with all the modern amenities, but done in classic cabin style. Enjoy walking/sledding on site or hiking the nearby Long Trail, then a relaxing hot tub under the stars. 15 mins to Middlebury Snow Bowl, 25 mins to Sugarbush and Mad River Glen or 45 to Killington. Great swimming, kayaking, etc. Perfect any season! Size limitations: The cabin is 850 sq ft. so not designed for large groups. It is one large space downstairs and two separate bedrooms above. It has a much larger feel than it's size indicates however, due to a two story loft above. There is also a generously sized mud room/entry with a heated floor to dry out ski boots and stow gear. It is therefore best suited for couples or small families who are looking for a well designed and appointed quality cabin. Anyone looking for a traditional Vermont experience will certainly enjoy the areas offerings and the warmth and intimacy provided in the cabin. 4wd Car recommendation: It is recommended that you have a 4wd car or truck in the winter.
