The SpaceIn 1969 our family first visited Great Harbour Cay, and before the afternoon was out they fell in love with the Island and purchased this townhouse - even though it was still under construction at the time! Four generations of our family have enjoyed the property and we love it as our personal home, and are happy to be able to share the experience with our guests. This personal attention is evident in the high end spa-like furnishings, designed by a renowned San Francisco interior designer. The duplex townhouse with decks on both levels is modern, bright, and clean with new furniture inside and out. The house is complete with modern amenities such as DirectTV, wifi, phone, full kitchen, dishwasher, and washer/dryer. There are two bedrooms upstairs each with ensuite bathrooms. The master bedroom has a pillow top king size bed, and the second bedroom has two twin beds. Downstairs, the living room has a comfortable queen size sofa bed, as well as a half bath. We picked this particular townhouse because of its amazing location. It is an end unit with a double sided dock, able to accommodate even 60 ft. long sailboats. We have recently installed 110/240V dock power and water. The house has its own reverse osmosis water purification systems, meaning you will always have clean, safe, and tasty water to drink right from the tap. The front deck has perfect views of the entire marina, and the rear deck directly faces the open view of the overwater sunset. The beaches on the island are among the most beautiful in the world, and you will never meet friendlier people than those from Great Harbour Cay. The property is great for a group of friends, a romantic getaway, a family trip, or a special event like an engagement or even weddings. We can arrange for a boat with guide that can take you fishing, kiteboarding, snorkeling, spearfishing, or just island hopping to find your own stretch of deserted beach. Guest AccessOur guests will have exclusive access to the entire house. No one else but you will be on site, but our manager who lives nearby will be available to assist you- whether it is to show you the local stores for shopping, suggesting a restaurant, arranging for a rental car or boat, or even bringing by some fresh coconuts! Interaction with GuestsWe will not be present, but can be reached with any questions, and the manager is always nearby if needed. The NeighborhoodThe Townhouses are located in Great Harbour Cay Marina, just a short ride from the beach, stores, and restaurants. The people on the island are very kind and friendly, and the beaches are among the best in the world. Getting AroundThe property manager can pick you up at the airport (a 5 minute drive away), and we can also help to arrange taxis or a rental car. We also provide 4 bikes and 2 kayaks for your use, and anywhere on the island is within walking/biking distance. Other Things to NoteGreat Harbour is easily accessible by air- a 20 minute flight from Nassau or about 50 minutes from Miami or Ft. Lauderdale. We are happy to help you arrange flights. Whether your ideal vacation consists of action packed days of watersports, relaxing on the beach, or taking a nap on a hammock under a palm tree, Great Harbour Cay is the perfect destination. One of the main reasons we, as well as our guests, love this place so much is that it is not at all touristy and is truly a tropical paradise destination. Escape the hotels, traffic, and noise of other more crowded islands. This makes it a little more complicated to get to our island home, but is certainly worth the effort. Some of the most commonly asked questions by renters are: 1. How do I get to your island? There is an airport on Great Harbour Cay, and is usually accessed either from Nassau or Florida. If you fly into Nassau (NAS) there are two regularly scheduled flights each day on Le Air at 7:50am and 4:30pm from Nassau to Great Harbour Cay, returning from Great Harbour to Nassau at 8:20am and 5:00pm, and the flight is about 17 minutes. The flights are reliable and cost $140- $160 per person round trip. Please search on line for "flyleair". Alternatively Le Air offers charters on their smaller plane that carries up to 5 passengers, and they charge $510 each way for up to 5 people. The advantage of their charter is that you can pick the times yourself. The other option is to fly from Opa Locka Airport, which is about half way between Miami Airport and Ft. Lauderdale Airport to get a direct charter flight to Great Harbour. We have flown for over 15 years with Markus of Air Charter Miami and they are very safe and reliable. The flight is 45-50 min and carries up to 8 passengers. Please search on line for "airchartermiami" If there are just 2-4 people, it may be more economical for you to fly through Ft. Lauderdale with Tropical Ocean Airways on their regularly scheduled flights on Fridays and Sundays, which cost about $614 per person round trip including taxes and fees: Departure in FLL at 1:00 PM, arriving in Great Harbour at 1:50 PM Departure from Great Harbour at 2:30 PM, arriving in FLL at 3:20 PM Please search online for "fly tropic" We are happy to help coordinate flights for you. 2. Is there shopping on Great Harbour Cay? There are two grocery stores and a couple of liquor stores on the island. There are plenty of non perishables for sale on the island like drinks, bread, pasta, cereal, as well as milk, butter, etc. However we recommend that our renters purchase their fresh fruits and veggies as well as steak, chicken, and cold cuts either in Nassau or Florida (depending on where you fly from) and bring them with you on the plane. If you have at least a 3 hour layover in Nassau, we know a driver who can pick you up at the airport, take you grocery shopping, and then bring you back to the airport in time for your onward flight to Great Harbour. There is also a great new shopping service in Nassau where you can order your groceries ahead of time on line, and they will be delivered via the daily flights from Nassau on LeAir. You can even order before your trip and we will pick them up and have your kitchen stocked for you with the groceries that you order! You can search online for "foodstore2go" 3. Are there restaurants on the island? There are several good restaurants on the island, and some notable ones are- Beach Club: about a 5 minute walk down the beach from our villa. They serve breakfast and lunch everyday and then sometimes on Fri and Sat they serve dinner too. Best cheeseburgers ever. Coolie Mae's: Cute restaurant in town on a hill with great sunset views. Really good fish and conch. Pool Bar: Open Air restaurant in the Marina. Great atmosphere with BBQ grilled steaks, chicken, and seafood. Carrie Earl: A British couple runs the restaurant here and it is a really good mix of European and Bahamian food, with a great bar. There is also a fun BBQ at the Marina every Friday night, as well as a themed dinner (Italian, Cuban, Creole, etc.) every Saturday night at the Tamboo restaurant next to the Marina. There are several other small restaurants as well. 4. Do you have a coffee maker? Yes! We have a French Press (kindly donated by a previous renter) as well as a Tassimo single cup coffee maker that uses "t-pods". We have dozens of pods there for you that come in about 6-8 different flavors. 5. Do we need a car? We do have bikes available for your use, but you will find a car convenient if you do decide to venture away from the villas. Most things are within 2-3 miles, but in the sun and with a few hills this can get far by bike. We can arrange a rental of a car or golf cart for you. 6. How do I get to your property? Our property manager Wally, who is somewhat of a celebrity on the island and is immediately loved by our guests, will pick you up at the airport and bring you to our property (less than 5 minute drive). He will also get you oriented as to where the shops and restaurants are located, and provide any local knowledge you desire. He also makes an amazing coconut milk drink!

Whether your ideal vacation consists of action packed days of watersports, relaxing on the beach, or taking a nap on a hammock under a palm tree, our beach front villa on Great Harbour Cay is the perfect destination. Our double sized villa is steps away from the beach with unobstructed ocean views, and consists of a separate bedroom with two full beds, a loft with a queen size bed, a twin day bed, full kitchen, washer/dryer, and two full baths, accommodating up to 7 people. A pack and play can also be provided for the little ones. The villa is equipped with a phone and wifi if you feel the need to remain connected to the rest of the world. We are also pet friendly. The layout is bright and airy, with a modern spa-like interior design by a renowned San Francisco designer. You can reach them at (305) 333-9263. If there are just 2-4 people, it may be more economical for you to fly through Ft. Lauderdale with Tropical Ocean Airways on their regularly scheduled flights on Fridays and Sundays, which cost about $614 per person round trip including taxes and fees: Departure in FLL at 1:00 PM, arriving in Great Harbour at 1:50 PM Departure from Great Harbour at 2:30 PM, arriving in FLL at 3:20 PM We are happy to help coordinate flights for you. 3.

If you like walking on pristine beaches with shells everywhere and great snorkeling in less than 20 feet of water -- well, all this can be yours directly outside our Conch Villa. We purchased and renovated this villa in 2004 with updates periodically. It's the perfect retreat for a small family who loves turquoise water (there's lots of shallow water for children to play in), and totally laid-back vacationing. Some of the best bonefishing in the world! Percy can take you, just ask for him when yhou get there. The berry islands are considered a sport fishing mecca. Whether your particular style is reef fishing, deep-sea fishing, bone fishing, or bottom fishing the waters off Great Harbor are teeming with enough fish to satisfy any appetite. In May the islands come alive with competitors vying for trophies during the fishing tournament held in Great Harbor Marina. If you need a car, Happy People, Elorn Rolle, or Carrie my housekeeper will rent one or a golf cart, your choice. Boats are also available. Eat at the Pool Bar everything is great!; my favorite is the cracked conch! The Bahamians upon request will make you key lime pie, peas and rice or other local dishes for a small fee. The villa's interior is furnished in the Bahamian tradition. There is one master bedroom with a queen size bed; and two lofts --one with twin beds and the other with a queen size bed. The living room and bedroom have cathedral ceilings. The full kitchen has a breakfast bar; and there is also a small dining table. The living room and bedroom open up onto a wrap-around deck with fabulous views of the ocean and golf course. At night you can see the light of the cruise ships as they get ready to dock at their privately-owned islands. (With permission you may visit these islands and take part in the fun and food). In the morning you'll get an orange sunrise view from the master suite. The kitchen is equiped with stove, oven, refrigerator, dishes,, and all cooking utensils. A washer and dryer is included. The master bedroom has a TV and VCR/CD player so bring your favorite movies. There is presently no cable or satellite, however, it is being shipped as I write this.. The villa is equipped with a phone for local calls and there is Wi-Fi. Walkways lead from the villa to the sea; and thatched umbrellas adorn the beach. Everything is within walking distance; but cars, golf carts aand boats are available upon request. Don't miss out on visitng this island .Great Harbor is known for its spectacular diving and champion sportfishing, second only to the Biminis. The lobstering is unbelieveable. Salt-water flats fishing in the shallows west of the Ambergris Cays is superb, and Percy Darville -- a renown master -- is available to take you out. You can rent boats from Elorn at Happy People, at the marina. Whether rented or your own boat, it's essential to have up-to-date marine charts, in order to safely navigate the many shallows; generally, deep ocean lies to the east of the island, shallower water to the west (the Bahama Bank). There are lots of things to do and see in day trips to the surrounding of Great Harbour Cay, including the enigmatic Blue Hole , Flo's Restaurant and the Ambergris Cays. Fairs, art exhibits and other activities. Clothing is informal, with T-shirt, shorts and sandals welcome everywhere. Features : The largest of the Berry Islands in The Bahamas, Great Harbour Cay. The airport is near its southern end. Virtually the entire east coast is beach and that is where most of the non-Bahamians have their vacation homes. The 'Village' (officially Bullock's Harbour) is where most of the locals live and where you can buy groseries. A secure hurricane hole, near the center of the island and accessed from the west, offers excellent protection for boats, as well as a marina and fuel dock. Caves near the northern end of the islandines Cay, is a shallow area which the Cuban-Americans call the 'Bajito' (pronouced bahitoh). Roughly a square mile in size, this sand bank comes out of the water at low tide and is a treasure trove of sand-dollars and shells for children of all ages.
