    Step back in time and enjoy when life was simple at a rustic mountain cabin. This cabin is nestled on a scenic slope in the quaint lake village of Green Valley Lake. Affectionately referred to as “Dusty Boots”, the cabin has been rustically restored and furnished by local artist, The Rustic Craftsman. Featured, is a 150 square foot second story sun deck with nature views of Holcomb creek to the North and unique rock formations to the South. Also included is a 300 square foot semi-finished daylight basement with separate entrance. Rules: No firearms, fireworks, or illegal drugs allowed on premise. You must be 25 years or older to Book. We value transparency and trust, so please be honest. This is not a party cabin, please keep noise to a respectable level. No smoking inside the cabin. Smoking outside is permitted, please use ashtrays. Breeds of pets must be approved by host. Upon arrival, guest will be required to sign a liability waiver. Children must be supervised by an adult on premise at all times, especially when ascending and descending ladders. Guidelines: Host is flexible, and with prior approval may be flexible with these guidelines. Premise is best suited for 1 medium size dog (>25lbs) or 2 small dogs (combine weight >35lbs). We request at least a 5 day notice from the time you make your "book it" request to the time you are planning your stay. The cabin is best suited for families with children over 4 years of age, and can accommodate 8 persons with 4 real beds and 1 sofa bed: 1 queen on the main floor, 1 full and 2 twins in the loft up stair accessible by a ladder, and 1 full size fold out couch in the separate semi finished day light basement. Please be honest about your parties size when booking. Arrival time is 4pm and departure time is 12pm (noon). The host may be flexible with these times depending on availability and cleaning between guest(s). Please ask host ahead of time if you need to change your arrival or departure times. This premise is not recommended for your stay if any of your party/family members are severely allergic to pets, or have limited mobility. Booking Information: We like to get to know our guests in order to make sure that our Cabin will meet their vacation needs. Please provide the following information in your “Book It” or “Contact Me” message along with any questions you may have about the Rustic Cabin: How many guest are adults (over 25), young adults (under 25), children (under 12), or toddlers / infants (under 4)? Will you be traveling with pets? If so, what are their breed and size? What is the general plan for your vacation stay? Flipkey is our booking agent. They handle all the financials. Flipkey monitors communication between the guest and host via the message center and will not allow websites, e-mails, or phone numbers to be viewed until a booking has been accepted. This prevents the host and guest from circumventing their system. We do our best to make our base price as competitive as possible. Flipkey charges a variable service fee to the guests. The host has no control over the Flipkeys service fee. When you book or inquire with dates and number of guests, FLipkey calculates the cleaning fee and the extra persons fee (if applicable) into the daily cost. Guests are responsible for snow removal and fire wood. The Green Valley Lake Community where our home is located is known as The “Hidden Gem” of the San Bernardino Mountains. Green Valley Lake is, at 7000´, a higher resort community than either Lake Arrowhead or Big Bear. This “best kept secret on the mountain” is secluded, and surrounded by National Forest. For all these reasons it has remained small, picturesque, and uncrowded. For such a small town, Green Valley Lake has something going on all the time and local events can be found on the official website. The Green Valley Lake Village, walking distance from our mountain home, has a General Store, Post Office, Malt Shop, and Lake Inn along with a few other shops and businesses. Our town boasts of a pretty little lake that is stocked often with plentiful fish, a small beach for swimming, and other activities including boating, kayaking, hiking, and nature watching. Green valley Lake is also ideal for off-road enthusiasts, and located a short 6 miles from Snow Valley Mountain Resort, 15 miles from Lake Arrowhead, and 20 miles from Big Bear. DIRECTIONS It's best to plan your trip ahead of time. The directions on mapping sites like map quest and yahoo maps are fairly accurate. Please be aware, that due to the remote location of the cabin, some GPS devices are not accurate. Check your GPS device ahead of time for accuracy. Should you need directions, contact the host. WEATHER CONDITIONS Snow conditions may affect driving and parking. Please be sure to check weather and driving conditions ahead of time and plan appropriately. Due to the unpredictability of the weather and road conditions, CHP requires chains to be carried in the winter. Guest are responsible for snow removal if they want it. We value and respect our community and want to maintain a good relationship with them. Therefore, we ask that you please be respectful and keep noise to a reasonable level. Please do not smoke inside the cabin. Smoking outside is permitted. Please use ashtrays provided to prevent any fire hazards. You must be 25 years or older to book a reservation. We request at least a 5 day notice from the time you make your "book it" request to the time you are planning your stay. The host is flexible, and may be able to accept a booking request with less than 5 days notice, but it is up to the discretion of the host. Our neighbors have a copy of these rental rules and have been instructed to notify host should they notice any blatant violations. OCCUPANCY 8 Person max. sleeping occupancy strictly enforced. The premise offers 4 real beds and 1 sofa bed; one queen located on the main floor, one full / two singles located in the sleeping loft accessible by a ladder, and 1 full size fold out couch in the separate semi finished daylight basement. For the safety of the community children, all pets and dog breeds must be approved by the host. The cabin does not have a fully fenced yard. The premise is best suited for 1 medium >25lbs, or 2 small dogs (combined weight of no greater than 35lbs). However, the host is flexible, and dogs not meeting these guideline may be approved by host depending on breed. If your dog is known to bark while you are away, we ask that you take your dog with you anytime you leave the premise. We prefer that your pets sleep on the floor, however, we understand that some pets are socialized to sleep on the couch or beds. If this is the case with your pet, please be diligent and put down a sheet or light blanket over the furniture in which your pet has taken a preference to. If any of your party members are allergic to pets, this premise may not be suitable for your party. CHECK IN Arrival time is 4pm and departure time is 12pm (noon). The host may be flexible with these times depending on availability and cleaning between guests. Please contact the host ahead of time if you have any changes to your arrival or departure times. The host will make every effort to meet the booking guest at the premise when they arrive. Upon arrival, booking guest will be required to sign a liability release waiver. In the case the host is unable to meet the booking guest, arrangements will be made to get the booking guest keys, and have them sign the liability waiver. SELF CHECK OUT Upon Departure, please pile all dirty linens and towels next to the washing machine in the daylight basement, take out the trash and recyclables to the outside cans, close all the windows, turn off lights, heater, fan, and appliances, lock all the exterior doors, and host will notify you as to where to leave the keys. CHILDREN The premise is a family cabin, but by no means is it infant, toddler, or child proof. For children's safety, children need to be supervised by an adult at all times while on premise. This family cabin is more appropriate for children 4 years and older. There are no installed safety equipment for infants or toddlers like outlet covers, furniture pads, safety gates, cupboard locks or bed railings. AMENITIES There is no dishwasher. Amenities include: 1 CD/Radio/Tape player combination unit. 2 old school TV's (No HDMI inputs, and no cable or local channels). 2 VCR's & 1 DVD player with a large collection of movies. Microwave, coffee maker & grinder, and other small kitchen appliances. If you have a need for a particular kitchen ware, please ask the host if one is available. PARKING Drive way parking is available, and up to 3 cars will fit. Should you need more parking spaces, additional parking is available across the street or in town across the street from the General Store. Use extreme caution when exiting the drive way due to the semi-blind curve. WINTER CONDITIONS Snow conditions in the winter time may affect driving and parking. Due to the unpredictability of the winter weather and road conditions, CHP requires chains to be carried. Please check the weather conditions ahead of time in order to prepare for the road conditions. Guest are responsible for snow removal if they want it. To prevent the pipes from freezing in the winter, upon departure, instead of turning off the heater, please turn the heater thermostat down to 45 degrees, and press the "hold" button. TRASH Please take out your trash and recyclables daily and dispose of it in the cans next to the rustic craftsman's workshop. The blue trash can is for recyclables. Please recycle. Please be sure to secure lids on the cans to deter wildlife. CLEANING FEE In order to keep the cleaning fee low, we ask that you please maintain tidiness within the cabin. The cleaning fee covers basic cleaning services and laundry services. Should the premise need additional deep cleaning, guests may be held responsible for the additional cost. WILDLIFE Visiting wildlife include Steller's jays, gray squirrels, chipmunks, mountain doves, and chickadees. We encourage our guests to bring up wild bird seed, or unsalted peanuts to feed the outside wildlife. Sometimes small rodents and insects make their way into the cabin for the natural environment outside. We do our best to deter the wildlife from entering the cabin. In order to help us, please don't leave uncovered food out over night. Take out the trash and recyclables to the outside cans daily, and make sure to secure the lids on the cans. If you have a sever phobia to insects or small rodents our cabin in nature may not be suitable for your stay. PROPERTY DAMAGE Host understand that accidents do happen. Please report any property damage to the host. Guests may be held responsible for any damage caused by blatant abuse of property or any damage caused by pets. The property will be inspected within 48 hours after the departure of the guests. SAFETY The premise is equipped with 1 carbon detector and 1 smoke detector mounted in the loft entry, 1 smoked detector in the daylight basement, and one fire extinguisher located in the kitchen. In the case of an emergency please contact emergency services by calling 911, and also contact the host. Should you notice any plumbing leaks please use the local shut valve located in close proximity to the leak either a sink or a toilet. Should the leak be sever please shut off the water main located in the basement utility room. Next to the water heater is a pole, ½ turn to the right will shut off the main water. Any water leaks please notify host, so that maintenance can be notified to fix the leak. The stove, water heater, dryer, and forced air heater are fueled by gas. Should you suspect a gas leak please contact the host. If the gas leak is sever, please shut off the gas using the gas meter located on the exterior East side of the cabin. If you encounter any electrical problems with the property, please contact the host for instructions to remedy the problem. The electrical box is located in the pantry area exterior to the ½ bathroom. BBQ safety – Due to fire hazards, extreme safety is required when using the BBQ. A water hose with a on and off valve located on the hose itself is available in case of an exterior fire. Please wet down the area adjacent to the BBQ before turning on the BBQ and never leave the BBQ on while unattended. Fire Place Safety - Please use care when using the fireplace. Presto logs work well. If you don't want to haul wood, the Green Valley Lake General Store sells wood. We have an awesome Forced Air Heating System, therefore a fireplace fire is just for ambiance and we do not provide wood. For your safety do not leave the trap door open, and supervise children while they are ascending or descending ladders. In the event of a power outage, oil lamps are located on the fireplace mantle, and flash lights are in the blue cabinet drawer. APPLIANCE OPERATIONS For any instructions on how to use the, TV / DVD / VCR, stove, washer & dryer, BBQ, Forced Air Heater, etc..... Please contact the host. There is no dishwasher on the premise. Should guest(s) want to use the fireplace, they are responsible for providing their own wood. Feel free to use any food, cooking ingredients, spices, and condiments available on the premise (check expiration dates). No Need to bring up bottled water, the water out of the tap comes from natural wells, and tastes delicious! TELEPHONE There is a land line located on the premise, and outgoing calls within the US are permitted; however, incoming calls may not be available if the host transfers incoming calls to his cell phone. If you would like to receive incoming calls, please let the host know. International calls are not permitted. The only cell service that works at the cabin is Verizon. INTERNET INFORMATION The home is equip. with high speed cable WiFi internet. The WiFi unit is a Linksys WRT54G. New hand held devices like the iphone may have compatibility issues with the wifi unit. Please contact your server to make sure your internet device or iphone is compatible. Due to maintenance, weather, and our remote location you may experience a power outage. In the case of a power outage, the wifi unit may need to be manually reset. Unplug the modem (white plug) from the outlet, wait one minute, then plug it back in. Wait till all the lights come on to the modem, then unplug the router (black plug) from the outlet, wait 1 minute, then plug it back in. CABIN QUIRKS This cabin is old and quirky, and not without it's flaws. Due to heat and cold expansion, sometimes the bathroom sink faucets will drip. Do your best to tighten the valves best you can. A light drip is OK. Porch light switch is located behind the pillow on the window seat. The master switch for the main living area light and fan is located next to the porch light switch. The 1938 Frigidaire refrigerator is original, and can be temperamental. The washing machine will only work on the cold/warm setting. You may need to use a little elbow grease to turn the industrial shower valves. On rare occasion the pilot light for the water heater or gas stove may go out. Please contact the host if you are not able to get hot water, or the burners to the stove will not come on. When it is cold, the knobs on the stove may be stiff. You may have to use a little elbow grease to turn them. Please be sure to keep the plug in the drain of the Cowboy bathtub when not in use to keep debris from going down the drain.

(one reviewer said no oven, but she was mistaken. She did not know the microwave is also a convection oven which allows you to bake cookies. You can also bake and microwave pizza [or anything] at the same time-which cooks and browns at the same time. It's a lot faster than just an oven! Just be sure to take the wire rack out of the oven while in microwave mode!) *Combination eco-friendly washer and dryer all-in-one in one unit. Please read the manual before using. Be sure to wait 3 minutes for the child safety lock to "click" before trying to open the door. *No cleaning fees if you clean it yourself. The RETRO-MODERN CABIN is a two bedroom, one bath home, with wood burning fire place, a double sided wall furnace, flat screen TVs in every room with DVD players, in ceiling Bose speakers for amazing sound and a Roku streaming device so you can stream live cable TV from the "Spectrum" app on it and other entertainment from your own Netflix account and more! My Amazon Prime and Hulu accounts are logged in on the Roku, so you can use those to expand your choices for viewing entertainment. Each room has its own thermostat for the heated floors. Go snowboarding or skiing and throw your wet socks on the floor. In 30 minutes they are dry and warm! It's a peaceful get away less than a couple hours drive from Los Angeles, Orange County and San Fernando Valley. The cabin is located in the mountains just above San Bernardino with only about 20 minutes of mountain driving, instead of the 45 minutes it takes to get to Big Bear. Green Valley Lake is a fresh water lake that supplies our water. The water quality is better than Arrowhead, because there are no motors allowed on the lake. You can drink the tap water and take some home with you. You can rent paddle boats, and get a daily fishing license. They even stock the lake with trout! There is also a beach with a playground for the kids! There's motocross trails and hiking in the National Forest that surrounds the community. Located 7200 ft above sea level, it's Southern California's highest town. It's 20 degrees cooler in summer than Los Angeles or San Bernardino, and above the smog, so the air is fresh and clean. We get the most snow in winter. Snow Valley, Big Bear and Snow Summit ski resorts are 30 minutes away. We have it all, hiking, motorcross, fishing, bird-watching, skiing, snowboarding, and a beach! The phone only has local and emergency dialing and some mobile phones do not have signal up there, so be prepared to use internet phoning or have people call you. There is WiFi and the TV in the living room can stream directly from the web with Roku. All the TVs all have HDMI inputs so you can always watch what's on your laptop, but bring your own HDMI cables. The living area of the house, front deck, back deck, wood burning fireplace are all yours to enjoy! I live out of town, so I will only do your online booking and a concierge can meet you and give you the keys. Or you can have access using the lockbox. We will provide you with your code with the arrival information. In winter, they will also plow a parking spot for you, so let us know if one or two cars are coming up. They will pretty much leave you alone, but the owners of they live in Green Valley Lake so if you need any help, or have questions they are available. It's mostly weekend rentals, so it's very quiet during the week and during non-holiday times. There is fishing, hiking, motorcross, snowboarding, skiing, bird-watching, a beach with a playground for the kids. A local market, snack bar, hardware store, bait shop, and post office. No public transit. Let me know whether or not you plan on cleaning the place. This way I can schedule a cleaner to come before the next group of guests. It also makes the refund of your deposit go quicker if you do plan to clean it. All cleaning supplies are provided, and a list is on the refrigerator.     The SpacePLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE MAKING YOUR BOOKING REQUEST Built in 1956 by an architect inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright design, and over 1,000 Sqft. of living space. This mountain home has 3 levels. The 1st level is a basement and large outdoor deck with a BBQ, picnic table, and chairs . The 2nd level features a roomy flying buttress ceiling living space with leather couches, a sizable gas fireplaces, gas heater, ¾ bath, and an outdoor semi-covered balcony. The well equip kitchen is adjacent to the living space and has a eat-in window bar with views of the Green Valley Creek across the street. The 3rd level features a spacious, romantic master suite loft with a king bed, sweetish style gas fireplace, claw footed tub, and accordion window doors that open up to a private balcony. The top level also has a ¾ bath, and guests bedroom with full size bed and electric faux fireplace heater. Interaction with GuestsHosts do not live in the area, and therefore have enlisted the help of their neighbor. The living space features a gas heater, wood burning stove, and dining nook. There is a cozy eat-in kitchen stocked with basic appliances and cooking wears. There is also a ¾ bath. The bedroom has a queen bed under a skylight for star gazing, a ceiling fan, and private balcony. There is a sleeping loft with 4 small twin beds. The access is steep and narrow and the ceiling is low. The sleeping loft best accommodates kids over age 5. This is truly rugged terrain and you can damage your vehicle, get stuck etc. It is accessed via Hwy 330 and a 15mile dirt road. You can park and hike/mountain bike as you see fit. *You can also park your car at the base of the mountain/forest and have a TPC representative in a 4x4 vehicle meet you. It can take between 45min-1hour one-way. It usually takes 1.5+hours when a visitor drives themselves. There are shallow riverbeds to drive through, rocky and sandy roads...very beautiful, rough and wild (and fun!). $$The charge is $40.00 per person and includes a daily trip down to the river (*2 round trips to the water; additional trips are 10.00 per person) Other Things to NoteThe Pyramid Center (TPC) is a non-profit located on 237 private acres nestled in the San Bernardino National Forest. Booking guests will be asked to confirm number and age range of ALL guests. Green Valley Lake is 20 miles West of Big Bear, a 35-60+ min. drive depending on weather, road, and traffic conditions. CHP requires possession of chains/cables when traveling mountain roads in the winter. No Exceptions. Nearest Skiing is Snow Valley Mountain Resort (Approx. 6 miles away, 15min drive). If your stay is contingent on snow, or no snow, it is best to monitor the weather prior to your stay BEFORE making your booking request. Breed and size of dog(s) must be approved by host prior to accepting a booking. The cabin is equipped with a forced air heating system as the primary heat, and should guests want to use the fire place for ambiance, they are responsible for bringing their own firewood. The only cell service that works at the cabin is Verizon. If you have any other carrier your cell service will be spotty. You may be able to use text if you need to contact the host. There is no internet or WiFi at the cabin, however there are several hot spots in the town Green Valley Lake, inquire with the businesses. If you are heavily dependent on phone and/or internet our cabin will not meet your vacation needs. This premise is not recommended for your stay if any of your group/family members are severely allergic to dogs, or have limited mobility. Rules: No firearms, fireworks, or illegal drugs allowed on premise. No underage drinking allowed on property. This is not a party cabin, please keep noise to a respectable level. No smoking inside the cabin. Smoking outside is permitted, please use ashtrays. No Trespassing on Neighbors Property. Things to Note: Driving directions are important, Forest road is not on the GPS and the sign is small. Pets are not allowed on any of the furniture at any time, and any evidence of pets on furniture or beds may incur extra cleaning fees. We do not permit towels or linens to be taken from the cabins. SNOW REMOVAL SERVICE Before your arrival at our mountain house the snow will be removed in the parking area. If it snows during your stay you may call the numbers provided to request snow removal services. These services are at an additional cost to you. There is a well equip eat-in kitchen, a 3/4 bathroom down stairs, and a 1/2 Jack-&-Jill style bathroom upstairs. Summers at the lake are awesome. Winter is ideal for sledding, cross country skiing and snow shoeing all a step out the front door. The full timer's in G.V.L. are the livelihood of this town. They care and are extremely active in keeping this place dreamy. Four times a year the town hosts an 'Artisans Tour'. A town map, which you pick up from the general store, guides you to the cabins of local artists where you can check out their work. You can look at or purchase everything from incredible pottery, paintings, candles, jewelry, hand made quilts, rustic furniture and more. Or maybe you just want a quiet mountain getaway with easy access to a peaceful walk around the lake. No loud parties. We prefer to rent to people who share a little about themselves and the nature of their stay. This cabin is very special to our family and we consider each guest as if they were visiting friends. It is the perfect home base for exploring all that the mountain has to offer and yet tucked away from the traffic and hustle and bustle of big resort towns like Big Bear or Lake Arrowhead. The Village consists of just a few buildings next to the lake, including The General Store, Log Cabin Cafe, Lake Inn Restaurant, Eagle's Nest Tavern, gift shop, and a tackle shop. The cabin has new stainless appliances, one set of white linens on each bed with a blanket and cabin themed quilts. Serta pillows are on each bed. 12 white towels and washcloths are included. A new 43" smart roku tv is in the living room and wifi/wired ethernet access is available for your devices. No cable TV is included, however, you are able to sign on to your Netflix account and a limited number of streamed free channels are available. We have a DVD library with a Blue Ray player connected to the TV. A game cabinet has a basketball, volleyball, many board games, as well as a poker chip set for the top floor poker/bumper pool table. A small stream runs through the back yard and views of birds are fun to watch from the kitchen window. The house is right on the water with a single slip dock for fishing and swimming. Come enjoy kayaks and paddle boards from your private dock. The fishing is great and the water is fine! There is a large patio for entertaining or just relaxing and taking in the sweet summer breezes. There is a queen bed in the master with an extra twin for the occasional toddler. We value transparency and trust, so please be honest. This is not a party cabin, please keep noise to a respectable level. No smoking inside the cabin. Smoking outside is permitted, please use ashtrays. Breeds of pets must be approved by host. Upon arrival, guest will be required to sign a liability waiver. Children must be supervised by an adult on premise at all times, especially when ascending and descending ladders. Guidelines: Host is flexible, and with prior approval may be flexible with these guidelines. Premise is best suited for 1 medium size dog (>25lbs) or 2 small dogs (combine weight >35lbs). Pets are not allowed on any of the furniture at any time, and any evidence of pets on furniture or beds may incur extra cleaning fees. The cabin owners assume no responsibility for illness or injury that may incur to pets or humans while on the premises. NO DAILY MAID SERVICE While the cabin is professionally cleaned and linens and bath towels are included in the cabin, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate. We do not permit towels or linens to be taken from the cabins. SNOW REMOVAL SERVICE Before your arrival at our mountain house the snow will be removed in the parking area. If it snows during your stay you may call the numbers provided to request snow removal services. These services are at an additional cost to you. We also provide you with snow shovels so you may remove the snow yourself. STORM POLICY/ROAD CONDITIONS Check the weather conditions and forecast so that you can be prepared (with chains if necessary) as we do not refund due to road conditions. Please remove your shoes and boots when entering the cabin, to keep it nice for everyone. Noise travels far in the forest so please keep noise down especially at night. Common sense rules - NO OUTDOOR FIRES and nothing illegal is permitted.
