The SpaceThis 3000 sq. ft (300 sq. mtr) home sits nestled in the hills of Greenbrae, very private, yet very accessible. The home is great for families with kids, and large enough for more than one family, if you are traveling as a group.
When you come down the brick steps toward the front door, you will see a lovely front yard, with a huge oak tree, and a 2 level patio with outdoor furniture for relaxing in the sun. Weber BBQ on the front patio.
Entering the house, there is a nice tile entry area, before entering the large and open formal living room, which has hard wood floors, large windows and white beam ceilings, with a huge stone wood burning fireplace.
From here, you will enter the formal dining room area, with a chandelier on a dimmer, and large windows on two sides out to the trees. The table can expand to seat up to 12 guests, and we have formal plates and silver should you be entertaining guests.
Just beside the dining area, is a fully equipped kitchen, with 2 ovens, electric stove, dishwasher and older microwave oven.
From the kitchen, there is an open bar area to the great room -- our informal living area. This area has an informal dining area, sofa, TV and is where the grandkids love to play, and watch TV, build forts, and generally lounge around :)!
Off of the great room is the enclosed laundry area, as well as a huge and sunny back deck nestled in the trees on the hillside -- great for sipping coffee in the morning, or a nice glass of wine at the end of the day. This deck leads to a smaller deck that wraps around the house all the way to the dining room.
The bedrooms are on the other side of the house, and very private. There are 3 full bedrooms, all with hardwood floors.
The large master bedroom has a queen sized bed, and sliding glass doors that lead out to the back garden. This bedroom has an en suite full bathroom with a glass enclosed shower. The 2nd bedroom has a queen sized bed, and leads to a guest bathroom, which is also accessible from the hallway. The guest bathroom has a marble bathtub / shower combo.
The 3rd room in the back has a trundle bed-great for kids, not the best mattresses for adults. (Trundle bed is two twin beds, one pulls out from underneath.) It is great for kids, plenty of space for clothes, with a closet and large dresser. I also have a pak and play for babies (fold up play-pen 36 inches square).
The house is on a corner lot, with plenty of parking on the street. Please note that the garage area and lower unit are private for homeowner --- no parking there, only access to the garbage cans. Guest AccessEntire home (except tenant unit downstairs and garage) Interaction with GuestsI will be available, or I will assign someone to assist locally, if I am away. I will provide names for emergency contractors, should this be required. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is a quiet suburb, with beautiful tree lined and steep hilly streets! If you want to work out, just go for a walk in the hills. You can also access a local mall with many shops, grocery, restaurants, by walking about 10 minutes. It is called Bon Air shopping center. There is a nice walking path along the Corte Madera creek near the shopping center, where people run, cycle, kayak, walk, and enjoy the bird life...and an occasional seal :) The creek drains out to the San Francisco Bay. The home is not far from beautiful Mount Tamalpais, with fantastic hiking trails, vistas, and Muir Woods/redwood tree forests. Getting AroundThe house is very close to the Larkspur Ferry terminal. You can walk (20 to 25 minutes) but I suggest going by car. The ferry, which goes right by Alcatraz and has amazing views of the city from the water, will drop you off in downtown SF after 30 minutes! Great trip. There are transit buses in the area, but the service is not the best....if you want to explore the mountain and the coast, you will need to rent a car. Other Things to NoteThere is a small unit underneath the house, that has a very quiet tenant who is rarely at the house. He is very kind, and helpful, and does not mind noise (my kids and grandkids make noise whenever they are in town!)
