The SpaceThe historic Greensboro Barn was built in 1880. I have been in love with this barn my whole life. Over twenty five years ago I decided to make it into my home, where I raised my family and have my studio and gallery. Located in the heart of Greensboro, the barn is just a half-mile from Caspian Lake and the village and a few miles to Hill Farmstead Brewery. There is wifi, though because of this rural area it's not always reliable for streaming. The space has it's own entrance with finished wood floors, deep set windows and unique live-edge, raw wood trim throughout. There is one large bedroom, and a kitchenette, dining, and living space (with a full/futon couch) and a full bathroom. The space is well insulated and heated with a beautiful, gas (wood style) stove. The kitchenette is equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, electric hot plate, toaster oven, coffee maker, electric tea kettle and crock pot. Willey's Store, a well known old fashion general store, sells groceries, Jasper Cellars cheese, Hill Farmstead beer, gasoline and marks the center of Greensboro Village and is less than a mile away. Hardwick, the center of the locavore movement is just 6 miles away with restaurants that serve farm to table fare. Near by is the Craftsbury Outdoor Center with summer rowing and biking, in winter x-c skiing, skating and good food (rentals available). The barn is an inspiring agricultural cathedral, which has been lovingly restored over a 25 year period, and is surrounded with gardens and fruit trees. There are wonderful places nearby to walk, run, ski, hike or bike; and just down my road you can play or x-c ski on a beautiful 9 hole golf course or one of the 7 red clay tennis courts. The pristine Caspian Lake, is the heart of the area and features great swimming, boating and (ice) fishing. It's not every day that one gets to stay in a barn and experience a beautiful piece of paradise. Guest AccessGuests have access to the main level of the barn and all the gardens and outside surroundings. Interaction with GuestsI will gladly inform and give suggestions to anyone who is interested and leave anyone on their own if that is what they are wanting! The NeighborhoodMy neighborhood is an outdoor paradise. It is safe, quiet and beautiful any time of year, day or night. Getting AroundIt is walking distance to the lake and village of Greensboro. This is a great area for biking, skiing, walking, hiking, kayaking, sailing and a car is preferable for greater distances. Other Things to NoteWhatever your interests are-just ask and I'll point you in the right direction.

If you are interested in a classic New England lakeshore vacation in the beautiful Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, then consider the beautiful shore of Caspian Lake in Greensboro. This spacious five bedroom summer cottage has been in a single family since the 1930s and has a lot of traditional beauty and character. Caspian Lake is one of the cleanest and most beautiful Vermont lakes, and our cottage is located on the sandiest side of the lake - the south shore. Great for children who want to play in the sand and wade in the water - and for adults, too! The cottage is in a fantastic location, only a 10 minute walk to the Willey's Store, the local general store begun over 100 years ago. Mountain View Country Club, Vermont's first golf club, is also a ten minute walk from the cottage and has a great golf course and seven clay tennis courts. Greensboro is also a wonderful summer community and is great for families - and it is also the home of the famous Circus Smirkus!! There are numerous great spots for picnics, including Barr Hill, and great day hikes, mountain biking and wonderful scenic drives are all very nearby. Greensboro is also the home of Jasper Hill Farm, producer of artisan cheeses sold across the country, and Hill Farmstead Brewery, which attracts beer aficionados from all over. A walking path circles most of Caspian Lake for great lakeshore walks. During July and August, there are Sunday evening concerts of recorded classical music open to the public - right next door! Learn more about Greensboro by clicking on the Greensboro Association link further down in this profile. We include a canoe and a dingy with the rental. Two large lakefront bedrooms have commanding views of Caspian Lake, and there are three additional bedrooms - one with a built-in bunk bed. The living room with a large, attractive fireplace and dining room are great relaxing and entertaining space, and there is a small private den off the dining room. So if you want to 'get off the grid' (just don't tell your kids the WiFi password!) and unwind with your family for a truly restful vacation with plenty to do both at the Cottage and in Greensboro and the surrounding area, please contact us about our cottage. Yes, we have added WiFi to the cottage, and all mattresses except one are new in 2014. Please note: This is a summer cottage only, and it is open from early June through early October only. Sorry, not suitable for the winter months!! Keywords: lakeshore, cabin, summer lake cottage, lake, Greensboro, northeast kingdom

We are taking a much needed rest this winter. Our home will once again be open to guests in June 2016.We will be taking bookings for next summer through out the winter. Please inquire or give us a call. This wonderful home, constructed in the traditional plank wall style of the early 1800's was built from the timbers harvested on its land. It operated as a farm for over one hundred years. In the 1960's it was purchased as a vacation home then became a year round private residence from the 1980's until 2009. It then remained vacant, falling into disrepair. The house has now been restored without losing its simple charm. Warm and cozy, quiet and secluded, yet quite accessible. Wonderful sunrises, beautiful star-studded night skies.
