The Space"The Dome" as we call it, is an 8 sided (geodesic dome),pine paneled artist studio- retreat with twin bed. Its a perfect space for one person. It has electricity, internet and a land line phone. (if needed). It has three windows looking out onto a spring fed pond and the woods. You can use an electric frying pan , and electric coffee/teapot in the Dome for cooking . There is a spring for drinking from the natural outside spring. There is an Outhouse a little ways away in the woods. You may walk up the driveway to our camper trailer for showers and use of refrigerator/cooking, etc. Guest AccessWe are located off of a winding country road, Robinson Rd. 3 miles from the Hamlet of Guilford, which is a small village with a beautiful lake, Guilford Lake.You can swim in the lake and bring your own canoe or boat.You can also swim and boat on our pond.Four miles down the road is a canoe and kayak rental business in which you can rent canoes to ride on the adjacent Unadilla River. We are located by 4 rivers,so if you like water sports this is a great spot for you. You can also hike, walk, or bike in the parks and along the county roads.There is a small public golf course down the road from us, and in the town of Sidney .The largest towns near us are, Norwich , Cooperstown, Oneanta and Binghamton- 20-60- mins. drive and it is a 4 hours drive from New York City and Philadelphia, PA. and 2 hours from Albany NY.You will be able to interact with our two very friendly large dogs, that love to take walks in the woods and swim in the pond. We have 11 chickens, that are free range and wander all over our property . We have two cats that will appear periodically. But don't worry,animals are not allowed in the Dome. Besides our Dome you will have access to all of our land and two ponds, Outhouse, our Kitchen and Bathroom, Washer /Dryer in our camping trailer. Due to the harsh winters her the Dome is open for guests only from April 1 to Oct. 31. Interaction with GuestsWe intend to help our guest feel at home and give them any local travel/info. and good conversation they may need as well as respect their privacy.We think anyone who wishes to be a guest in the Dome will want their time to create,work ,think etc.and will want to use their time alone here,and enjoy their privacy.We will interact as much as seems appropriate and fits with our our guest's schedule as well as ours.
(We may have coffee together in the AM or in the evening for example.). We live in the camper -trailer on the top of the hill so there is a lot of space between us and the Dome. One of us will always be on the property in the evening while a guest is here . The NeighborhoodWe live off of a winding country road with a few houses and farms on it ( see photo ), three miles from the Hamlet of Guilford. NY. There are pristine lakes, ponds and rivers around us, fields and farms. Our water comes from a natural spring on our property. The villages here such as Guilford, Sidney, and Bainbridge are quaint,and very old fashioned without a lot of traffic or people. Definitely not your usual tourist trap. If you want a quiet, peaceful and inspiring retreat in a rural New England setting surrounded by wild life, woods,farms and lakes then this is the place for you. Getting AroundYou need a car if you are going to stay here. We are really rural and there is no public transportation unfortunately to take you from town to town. There is a taxi service in Sidney and Norwich but the easiest and only way to get here is by car. We have free parking right next to the Dome. If you fly you can rent a car from the Binghamton, Albany, Utica, New York airports or drive up from the Philadelphia, PA or NY City. airports. Other Things to NoteOur guest must be comfortable with dogs, cats chickens, the occasional squirrel and chipmunk etc. and want to sleep in a pine paneled ,cozy geodesic dome the middle of the woods.
