        PS. This property is 50Km North of Haast NOT Okuru/ Haast and is more suited to Kiwis wanting a base while fishing/ hunting/ diving / jetboating etc Our place is compact but cosy and has everything you need (except linen) Lake Paringa is beautiful and serene. It is an area you can totally relax in and enjoy peace and quiet with no cell phones or internet. If fishing is your interest, the lake has a plentiful supply of brown trout and quinnat salmon as early as November some years through to the better months of February and March. Local sea fishing will provide you with mussels, paua, kina, crayfish, blue cod and hapuka depending on your kai moana gathering skills and capabilities. Whitebait season is from Sept 1 - Nov 14 and there are a couple of handyish spots to try your luck at a bit of pot netting. Red deer hunting is literally at your door step and stags can sometimes be heard roaring from the house in April. Local rivers are a jetboaters dream and there are plenty of tracks between the Glaciers and Haast for day trips of discovery. The beaches of South Westland have a beauty all of their own and seals, dolphins and penguins can be seen on a few of these secluded spots I will happily give you directions to. Bruce Bay is only 15 minutes drive and rated one of NZ's top 10 loved beaches. 3kms north is the South Westland Salmon Farm and cafe which is well worth a visit and a meal. Fox Glacier is 70kms north and Haast is 50kms south of Lake Paringa. Both small towns provide friendly locals, good dining, small general stores, bars, post office and fuel along with local activities ranging from skydiving to bush walks.             Our modern bach is a great base for river, coastal and forest activities. Close to the Okuru River and the Tasman Sea with gorgeous sunsets and mountain vistas our bach is your perfect holiday getaway.             Earthy but modern, with all conveniences and luxury. Sea views and sunsets forever. Fantastic to watch the weather from the front window. Feels remote but only five minutes to shop, ten minutes to pub, local stores and restaurants. Trout fishing in front of bach, great surf casting off the beach and only half an hour to Jacksons Bay to launch the boat for serious fishermen and divers. Great DOC walking tracks only a few kms away. A Jet boaters paradise with six amazing adventures within only a few kms. Wonderful canoing and kayaking in the bush estauries or the wild rivers like the Haast and Cascade Rivers. Fishing guides for freshwater and sea available. Plus helicopter operators for the more adventurous. It is paradise for the outdoors man and is the last frontier. Special conditions: Pets allowed with prior approval.
