The SpaceWe have a room to spare and thought about getting a year-long exchange student. But for now we've opted to rent to business persons coming to town, short-term exchange students, and other visitors, whether sightseeing or visiting family! This room used to double for everything from office to workout room to cozy reading room/library for us, before doing Airbnb - so it's got a very home-y atmosphere that has that warm feel and ambiance, but also offers very practical features.
The Room has a private half-bath with easy usage of our full bathroom. Your room has a cozy sleeping area (daybed style, custom-built), Bowflex workout system, office for doing a little work or unwinding with TV, and library/sitting area. Wireless internet (WiFi) is, of course, included.
The Room is plenty big enough for a second guest, but keep in mind it would be on an air mattress, so we really only advertise this for 1 guest. (it's your call, depending on your situation and preference :)
Ideal location to do business or visit the sites! Just check out these conveniences, within a matter of minutes:
- BWI Airport (5 minutes)
- Baltimore, downtown (5 minutes)
- Washington, DC (30 minutes)
- Annapolis, MD (30 minutes)
...and much more!
Tons of entertainment and dining options nearby. Also, if you care to stay in, my wife is a phenomenal chef! (she once managed weddings and golf club events at the infamous Hershey (Chocolate) Hotel in PA)
So if it's the right fit for you, please do contact us for more information... Guest AccessAnything a guest needs, pretty much. We like to be laid back and offer the guest the feel of home, w/the autonomy and full-service nature of a hotel - so we're pretty flexible. Interaction with GuestsA lot or a little! We aim to please and are very low-key. We have talked it up night-after-night with some guests who prefer to be social, and even driven them where they needed to be on several occasions. On the other extreme, some guests keep to themselves and do their own public transportation, therefore we allow them to come and go as they like, and we keep to ourselves and don't intrude. The NeighborhoodThe neighbors are pretty low-key. We live in a nice, average middle class neighborhood. Nobody snooty, but it's nice and clean. And it's very safe. Getting AroundYes - The local university, UMBC, is within walking distance (less than 1 mile) as well the local mass transit / MARC station is around a mile to walk there. Other Things to NoteThe daybed/sofa is small, but it is extendable with a custom setup we have. Every guest has enjoyed it, and it's a firm sleep, on the scale of firm vs. squishy beds. We just want you to know, in case you have special sleeping/back needs though.
(We also have an air mattress, but never have needed or used it for an Airbnb guest, but we are always willing to offer it, or other arrangements)
