In the Augusta area, Maple Hill Farm is in nearby Hallowell just 4 miles from I-95 Augusta Exit 109 on acres of country serenity. Maine's 1st certified “Environmental Leader green lodging boasts the unique combination of many of the amenities of a quality hotel with the comfort of a quiet country farmhouse. Scott Cowger brought solar and wind power to the inn and was named Innkeeper of the Year in 2009 for this work and also for meeting the needs of leisure travel & business guests. Guest rooms all feature private baths, and some rooms feature huge double whirlpool tubs, thermostatically-controlled fireplaces, and private secluded decks. Full, queen, and king beds are available. One room, that also has two beds, is also fully ADA-compliant for disabled guests, including at-grade entry and a roll-in shower with fold-down seat. Rooms are comfortably furnished with country antiques and comfortable beds with freshly-pressed sheets. Daily housekeeping services are included in your rate, as is a full country breakfast cooked to order from a menu each morning. The solar and wind turbine systems provide about half of the electrical needs of the facility as well as much of the hot water which is enjoyed in the tubs. Adjacent to Maple Hill Farm is the Jamie's Pond wildlife management area with an extensive network of trails for year-round recreational opportunities such as walking, hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. There is great fishing in the pond itself! This is also an ideal area for bicycle riding on paved rural roads with very little traffic. Just 5 minutes away is historic downtown Hallowell with a wide variety of restaurant options as well as interesting shopping including many antiques. Just another mile away is the state capitol and fascinating Maine State Museum in Augusta, plus movies and more shopping just off Exit 112 in Augusta. A full-service conference and event center is available at Maple Hill Farm and is ideally suited to weddings and private functions as well as business trainings and meetings. Country serenity set back from the road among rolling fields and woods, yet just four miles from I-95 and three miles from a vibrant boutique downtown with music, restaurants, antiques, and shopping.
