The Space$38 per night and $12 per person, including children, after the first 2 people. the chalet will be given to one family at a time, so even if you are only 2 people you will have it only to yourself. This 1 acre hideaway is bounded on two sides by streams.the dry zone scrub that surrounds the house is not landscaped but we do plant native jungle trees that are a haven for birds. It is called river island because it is very secluded and feels like an island due to the 2 waterways. yet it is in close proximity to the tissamaharama road [also called the colombo galle highway],10 minutes by tuk tuk attractions nearby Yala National Park 45 minutes Bundala bird sanctuary 20 minutes Udawalawe National Park 1hour Kalametiya bird sanctuary 30 minutes Lunugamvehera National Park 1 hour Kataragama (holy site/temples) 1 hour Usangoda beach. 45 minutes Galle (world heritage listed fort) 2 hours Safari jeeps and kalametiya lagoon boat safaris could be organized. The wattle and daub architecture is characteristic of a village house but it is lockable. The house consists of an open plan sleeping and seating area, 2 modern bathrooms and a large veranda for relaxing by the stream. steps built into the bank takes you down for a quick bath before lunch. Crisp white linen sheets and large mosquito nets make up your six mattresses on the sleeping platform. Towels are provided. we do NOT have hot water or wifi. there is a menu you could choose from and our cook makes delicious local food at very reasonable rates. samantika is our cook and housekeeper and she will look after you. hambantota also has a large supermarket and a few restaurants. As this is our holiday home we are not available on site all the time. However there is a caretaker and cook on the property and I am contactable on my mobile 24/7 Basic and beautiful.This is a place for true nature lovers only. And if you are truly blessed, on a moonlit night you may see an elephant cross the stream for a wander in your garden.
