The SpaceOur house was built in 1900 - style is eclectic & comfortable with books and artwork throughout. The upstairs bedroom is generous, easily sleeping 2 with lots of storage in the dresser, the closet and under the bed. A small desk & unlimited wifi is available for intense studying :-) South facing windows let in plenty of natural light. For additional guests only, the downstairs living room converts into a big bedroom 13'x 13' with a foldout couch (that is actually comfortable) The covered front porch and quiet back garden are ideal for lounging out. Just 20 minutes to the core. (on foot) Or hook up with a SoBi bicycle online and pay as you go to get around - there is a hub located just across the street. Our neighbourhood has lots of amenities in walking distance - pubs, Grocery store, Greek Bakery, the Bruce trail and bus lines. The house is comfy/casual and clean but not immaculate (yes we still live here ;-) - hang out on the front porch or laze out in the front room/library - huge eat-in kitchen if you need to heat up a meal or cook - unlimited wifi and plenty of space to spread out. If you have more than 2 people we have an extra room with a sturdy fold out couch for 2 additional people as needed as previously mentioned (with an additional charge) Huge eat in kitchen with, kettle, microwave, stove, blender, rice cooker etc etc - lots of room in the fridge. Backyard and covered porch add a whole lot of extra space to your stay - listen to the birds, watch the butterflies I run a landscaping business with my husband so I may be home some of the time (more so in winter) - you will be free to come and go as needed with your own key - I have my cellphone with me at all times if you have questions. I have lots of brochures and suggestions, happy to chat over coffee when you arrive. If you are a very light sleeper such that a creak on the stairs or hallway could wake you - please message me first for details - Remember, our house was built in 1900. (and we have disposable ear plugs should you need them) The Bruce Trail and some excellent places to eat (Mississippi Queen) and drink (Rebel's Rock Pub) are all close by - check the Guidebook for listings Major bus lines run from the corner - these get you to the GO station (with express buses to Toronto) and to the center of town in minutes (you could walk to the main drag in 15-20 minutes) Guest AccessDining room - living room - kitchen - wifi - shower & bathtub - washer & dryer - front porch - backyard, on site parking Interaction with GuestsThere are so many great things about this city - I love providing guidance on where to go whether its arts events, nature hikes, waterfalls, bicycling, restaurants, shopping etc (I provide a list in your room to work your way through as well as being open and friendly to specific questions) The NeighborhoodWe have a beautiful house but its only fair to say our neighbourhood is 'mixed' - if you are looking for a pristine 'hood with manicured lawns and Starbucks on every corner - we certainly don't qualify :-) I feel safe walking alone at night - we know our neighbours and we're close to the best parts of downtown Hamilton! Our street is residential until you get several blocks further west towards James st. All the following places are on the west end of our street (less than 2km) and are recommended 'Made for you by Madeleine' (artisinal bakery) 'HMBRGR', 'The Mule', The Baltimore House for DJ's or live music in the evening, Thai Memory - amazing decor and delicious Thai food, 'FSH&CHP' for seafood and a huge sports bar if you need to catch a game. Getting Aroundthe 'B-Line express' gets you to McMaster (close enough that you can see the bus stop from our house - one street up) The King st buses also get you to the Go Station (2.5km away) if you plan on going to Toronto for a day - or over to James st if you don't feel like walking along our street for 15+ minutes. A bicycle is handy (Check out SoBi Hamilton bike share) to take in most sites and there are plenty of wonderful trails (including access to the Bruce Trail) nearby. Other Things to NoteWe really prefer bookings for 2 nights or more - I realise that may not be convenient for some - but we have to get the whole house ready and then clean up afterwards (laundry etc) so single night bookings are generally not accepted unless you're willing to pay for two nights.

The SpaceThis is a sixth-floor condo, with a private guest suite, suitable for short or medium-term stays. The guest room is at one end of the apartment, and has exclusive access to the bathroom. The bed is a comfortable pocket coil queen, with high thread-count sheets and new pillows. It will sleep two people comfortably. There's a beanbag chair, chair & desk, and laptop table for use in bed. The bathroom has a sink, toilet, and large glassed-in shower. There is an elevator, and the building and apartment are wheelchair-accessible. The bathroom is too narrow to get a wheelchair into, however. If you have special needs, please let me know and I'll do my best to accommodate. If you need some laundry done, I can look after that too. On safety, I have a fire extinguisher and heat and smoke alarms attached to the building's alarm system. There is no attached garage or source of combustion in the unit or building as a source of carbon monoxide. Guest AccessIn the kitchen, help yourself to the fridge, microwave and dishes – the stove needs some explanation. The living room and dining area are common; there's a TV with local reception of a half-dozen stations. Wireless internet is fast (30Mbps) and connectivity solid. Private areas are my office, bedroom and bathroom. Interaction with GuestsI'm a friendly guy and I enjoy getting to know my guests. I work from home, so I'm usually available to eat meals together and assist with my guests' needs. However I'm respectful of their need for quiet, and the guest room does offer privacy. The NeighborhoodCorktown is a historic district in downtown Hamilton, and a walkable neighourhood for all needs. It is stumbling distance from the Augusta Street pub district, and soberer steps to hospitals, office buildings, and the Jackson Square mall. Along King St a few blocks to the north, you can find cafés, European groceries and takeout food from every global corner. Getting AroundSuper accessible by transit: I'm three blocks from the downtown GO train & bus terminal. Additionally, many Hamilton buses run in all directions from here; it's one 25-minute trip from my door to McMaster University. There's even an express bus (GO route 40) to & from Toronto Pearson airport, running every hour and every half-hour during rush hour. (schedule: (URL HIDDEN) There are bike lanes and paths nearby, and rental bikes right at our front door! You may use my bike rental account to get around for free, within reason of course ((URL HIDDEN) There's overnight parking usually available in front of the building and on several neighbouring streets. When there's none, which often is the case during the day, there's a pay lot around the block. Additionally, arrangements can be made for transportation to Hamilton airport or other locations in town. Other Things to NoteAccess to the building is by buzzer. I'm usually here, so coordinating arrivals won't be a problem. There's a key and building entry fob, which costs $100 to me to replace but is covered through the airbnb security deposit.

The SpaceWe are located in a large and quiet fully renovated Georgian home. The rooms are spacious with high ceilings and lots of light. The big country kitchen is playful and functional and we have all kinds of pots and pans, industrial stove, microwave, toaster oven, toaster, panini machine (my favorite), rice cooker, coffee maker (percolator) kettle and water cooler. There is space for the guest in the 2nd fridge and we have an extra pantry for dry goods. The coffee and a large selection of teas are on me. I don't like the guest to go hungry just because they did not have time for shopping so there are always complementary bread, peanut butter, honey and jams. We have a large backyard, which is rare for downtown. Guest AccessGuests have reasonable access to the kitchen and the garden at any time. Some of my guests use their laptop at the kitchen table and others have used the space in the main floor for their yoga routines. Access limited during spiritual events. Interaction with GuestsWe live on site and are available to answer any questions. We have Hamilton Gudebooks, Restaurant Guides available. The NeighborhoodWe are two blocks from the heart of downtown, dozens of restaurants and all major entertainment facilities. Three blocks from a big supermarket, No Frills, and two blocks from Denninger’s, a high quality but well-priced delicatessen with prepared food. I am a fan of their soups. Getting AroundWe are one block to 2 major bus routes and 6 blocks from the Go Transit Station. McMaster is a direct fast bus ride. Walking distance to St. Joseph's Hospital and General Hospital. Juravinsky is not downtown but is a 20-minute nature walk up/down the spectacular Bruce Trail (World Biosphere) in the warm weather or about 25 minutes by bus. Other Things to NoteNote that even if it takes me over two hours to prep a room, I do not charge an extra fee for cleaning and I do not charge extra for a second guest sharing the room. I take great care on "making the room" and sanitizing: I have top quality hypoallergenic covers for the mattress and the boxspring. I use a hepa handheld vacuum to remove every small particle of matter that may had pass through the sheets. I spray with Silver Clear (top of the line sanitizer antibacterial and antivirus) but it is costly and I am not sure if it is better that my homemade traditional sanitation spray of water, vinegar and alcohol that kills virus and bacteria, probably just the same. The curtains get washed once a month. Let us know in advance if you are sensitive to natural spiritual burn offerings like sage and sweet grass or high quality resins like frankincense, myrrh and copal so they are not used 48 hours before your arrival.
