The SpaceThe Aberdeen is a self catering, private, secure home from home experience. The guesthouse is a three bedroomed home on a third acre of ground with its own electric gate, and fully walled. It comprises one en suite bedroom with king or twin beds, one bedroom with twin or king size beds and one bedroom with a double bed. These latter two rooms share a bathroom and are ideal for families or guests travelling together. The guests will never have to share a bathroom with strangers. The living area comprises a large lounge with a 42 inch TV, an eight seater dining table which can be used for business meetings or office work, a neat modern kitchen, a large spacious verandah overlooking a green tranquil garden planted with the exquisite green barked acacia or fever trees. An outside laundry and back garden with newly planted herb and vegetable garden. Safe and secure.
We cater for both short and long term stays, be it business or leisure. Guest AccessThe guests have access to the whole place with the exception of the housekeeper's private rooms.
The Speedqueen washing machine is to be used soley by the housekeeper, Gina who will see to guest's laundry needs.
However hand washing is allowed in the laundry and hung on the washing lines by the laundry. Interaction with GuestsThe proprietor and owner, Jeanne Gordon lives close by but not on site but is at hand to cater to any requirements. She will meet and greet guests, settle them in and visit daily or at any time the guests require her. We prefer to allow our guests the freedom of a private home from home stay. The NeighborhoodAvondale is a central, upmarket, quiet suburb of Harare closely situated to shopping centres, restaurants, movie houses and Reps theatre.
The area is safe to walk or jog about.
The area has excellent electricity and municipal water but drinking water must be bought as the municipal supply is not fit for drinking. The guesthouse has its own 5000 litre municipal water storage tank.
Avondale was originally the first suburb developed in Salisbury.
Harare is the capital of Zimbabwe. There are lots of attractions nearby like the Harare Botanical Gardens, the Lion and Cheetah Park, the Snake Park, Bird Gardens, Mukuvusi Woodlands, Domboshawa Hill, the weekly markets at Arundel, Borrowdale Village and the Maasdorp Road which is a short walk from the guesthouse. Fishing and boating at nearby dams. Active birding and gardening clubs welcome any visitors and members.
There is an active night club life in the city.
There are internal flights to take you to the magnificent Victoria Falls, Lake Kariba and the second city, Bulawayo.
Johannesburg is a mere 1.5 hour flight from Harare. Getting AroundWe offer airport transfers at a cost if $30.00 one way.
The guesthouse has its own electric gate entrance and parking.
Zimbabwe does not have a good public transport system but taxis are readily available.
The guesthouse is walking distance to the Avondale and Second Street Extension shopping centres, as well as several restaurants, coffee shops and movie theatres. Other Things to NoteThe Aberdeen has fast uncapped fibre internet and a full DSTV bouquet.
The well equipped kitchen is ready for your self catering and Gina, our gentle friendly housekeeper can cook meals and do any laundry for a small extra fee.
