The SpaceYou will have exclusive use of a fully equipped two bedroom historic house located adjacent to the state Capitol complex in Harrisburg's burgeoning Midtown district. Reservations are not generally available more than six weeks in advance. If you are interested in booking future dates of a week or more that are shown as "not available" on the calendar, please email me and ask. There are two large bedrooms, each with a queen-sized bed. There is also an office which can be converted into a bedroom with a full-sized futon. If there are four or fewer guests booked and you wish to have the office made up as a bedroom there is an additional one-time $25 charge. If more than four guests are booked, the office is made up and the additional guest charges apply instead of a separate charge. Guest AccessFull access to the house and use of the kitchen and laundry facilities. Keyless entry programmed with the guest's birthday, since everyone remembers the month and day they were born but sometimes not the year. Interaction with GuestsThe host lives right next door to the property and is readily available but generally unobtrusive. The NeighborhoodA remarkably quiet urban residential neighborhood convenient to state offices and downtown as well as attractions in Harrisburg's vibrant Midtown. Be sure to visit the state Capitol, widely regarded as the nation's most beautiful seat of state government. Getting AroundThere is a bus stop half a block away and the Amtrak station is six blocks away. There is on street residential permit parking and one guest pass is included. Additional parking passes available at an additional charge, but they must be requested at time of booking. Other Things to NoteIt is worth noting it's parallel parking on both sides of a one way street so you might want to brush up on that skill if it's not something you do regularly. And please don't take up more than one space or the neighbors will mutter. One residential parking permit is provided which will allow you to park in Zone 2 Green. Enforcement is aggressive, relentless and a parking ticket is $30. The parking permit's expiration date MUST be visible -- can't stress that enough. Additional permits are available for a $30 fee.

The SpaceOversized bedroom with memory foam mattress and enough floor space to inflate a queen double-height airbed to sleep more people if needed (notify me if desired before your stay!). Room features designer ceiling fan, recessed lighting, two windows and designer carpets. House is decorated with fun, playful artwork, comfortable furniture with a mid-century flair and plenty of amenities. Garage is easy to access and fits 1 car, plus one in the drive way. New build home with great temperature control, updated everything and friendly people! :) Guest AccessKitchen, downstairs reading/music lounge, upstairs tv/hangout area, laundry and upstairs back porch are all common spaces. Make yourself at home and use whatever you'd like! You'll get a garage door opener to use during your stay as your house key, and we have a hide-a-key in case you get locked out. Two bikes are available in the garage for your use, too, plus camping chairs or other amenities. Let us know if you want them and we'll make sure they're ready to go! Please send a message with your booking inquiry - I enjoy knowing whether you're traveling through, visiting the area, here for business, etc. Interaction with GuestsIf possible, I'll be home to meet you, but if I'm not available, I'll give you directions for how to get in the house on your own. Late evening arrivals are totally fine - just let us know in advance if possible. I'm Katy, your main contact and I live upstairs, Quinn (guy) is my downstairs housemate, that you may encounter, and his sweet, quiet, hypoallergenic dog that lives only downstairs is Nova (you may not even know she's here!). I love giving local food/drink/fun recommendations, so please ask! Since I do work a few different jobs, I am out and about quite a bit and unable to offer daily hotel-like housekeeping. I'll stay out of your room during your visit, but if you want extra towels or need something cleaned, etc. just let me know. Feel free to hang out with me if I'm around, but don't feel obligated to. I enjoy hearing travel stories and getting to know my guests but it doesn't always work out time wise and sometimes you just need a place to crash and I totally get that. Departure time is whenever you like (as long as it doesn't overlap too late in the day with my next night's guests), just close the garage upon leaving and slip the opener through the mail slot on the front door. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is filled with young professionals and most of the houses in our area have been renovated completely with awards in historic preservation and gorgeous designer finishes inside. We're 3 blocks from the Governor's Mansion and 2 blocks from the riverfront. The "hipsters" and professionals alike hang out at the cute coffee shop across the street, Little Amps and there's an awesome italian bakery 2 blocks away that has great homemade italian lunch specials and takes dinner reservations for weekend nights BYOB. We have very little crime in our block/area, but please do keep in mind that Harrisburg is still a city, so be aware of your surroundings when walking alone at night and if you park your car on the street, I'd recommend taking anything that looks valuable inside with you, just to be safe. Downtown is walking distance along the river front, and there are lots of great places to eat in midtown. I'd recommend driving, or taking a cab or Uber or bikes late at night over walking downtown, but that's my personal preference. Getting AroundDriving is perfect for getting to my place since I have a garage for you! You'll have to pay for parking downtown between 8am-7pm but it's free on my block other than street cleaning days where marked. If you're looking to be close to Amtrak or the capital, I'm about a 1.5-2 mile walk from either. If I'm available, I'm happy to give you a ride around as needed. There is a bus line a block away, but I've never taken it. Two bikes available for your use - just give me a heads up if you want them! Uber and cabs are also available. Ask if you need directions or suggestions for anything! Other Things to NoteAs noted above, we do have a new addition to the house - Nova, a sweet, quiet, well-behaved, non-shedding Golden Doodle puppy. She is all black, has hair instead of fur which doesn't shed much, and often stays in Quinn's room in her crate, and only lives downstairs so you may not even know she's there. Please read our house rules regarding the dog prior to your stay in terms of keeping her from getting out. As mentioned, she doesn't bark or whine hardly at all. She's friendly with everyone and quite smart. We have allergy meds and earplugs on hand if anyone needs them, but so far it has not been an issue at all.

The SpaceThe house is constantly under renovation as of this posting. There may be painting supplies and other materials occupying the space. Also, in the bedrooms furniture may be very minimal. This is not a fancy house but Im working on it incrementally. Guest AccessThe first floor (kitchen and common areas) The second floor (bedroom and bathroom) Interaction with GuestsLittle / as needed. I prefer to offer the premises and stay out of your hair. Please do not expect a breakfast to be made for you as I rarely have time to cook for myself. Sorry! The NeighborhoodMidtown is an urban area located centrally in Harrisburg. It is on the upswing and new businesses are cropping up frequently. Getting AroundTaxis, bike-taxis, buses, and of course, walking. UBER is now available in Harrisburg! Other Things to NoteParking is on street and is zoned for residents. Temporary parking passes are available at the town hall. Otherwise you may need to park a couple of blocks away outside of the zoned parking area. Please ask for more information.

The SpaceYou get the whole house in a cool part of town! You and your family, or band, or students, or team of ping pong athletes, or political rivals are discretely tucked away on Kelker Street within blocks of all sorts of things to do and see in the Historic Harrisburg Midtown area. Speaking of Historic: Like many of the row homes in this neighborhood. Kelker Haus was built at the turn of the century - in this case, 1902 (modeled after the homes being built in nearby Philadelphia at the time). This means there is a very unique charm that you might find in the architecture or layout of these old row homes. Please do us a favor and be aware this is an old home with original hardwood floors, crown moulding and exposed brick dating over 114 years and undoubtedly holds many stories. Basically, respect your elder and you'll get to create your own stories! Sleeping accommodations: sleeps 8 or more, (depending on your situation.) There are 3 private bedrooms with beds: BR1 = queen, BR2 = full, BR3 = full, Loft/living room = foldout twin couch + regular couch Guest AccessAll rooms (except the basement - it's dark down there), laundry facilities, huge kitchen + appliances, wifi, TV+Chromecast (or similar), electricity, water, heat, ceiling fans, furniture, first floor office space, good conversation, etc. Interaction with GuestsDan and his roommates live next door and might peek in or might answer any questions you have about the neighborhood. Feel free to say "HI!"to them if you're on the back deck and they come out to water their flowers. Otherwise owners, Beau and Angie, will be available for guest needs via text or airbnb messaging. The NeighborhoodLittle Amps Coffee Shop, Historic Broad Street Market, Alvaro's Italian Pastry Shoppe, Midtown Scholar Bookstore, Garden Vietnamese (Pho!), Midtown Cinema Indie Theatre, HACC Campus, Riverfront Park (along Susquehanna River), Shady McGrady's Pub (50+ taps), Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center (music venue), Ciervo's Pizza, HersheyPark, Hershey Gardens, Chocolate World, City Island, Harrisburg Senators Baseball, The Pride of the Susquehanna Paddleboat tours. Also see the guidebook for maps and more details. Find Kelker Haus on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)+ for the most recent goings-on! Getting AroundWalking, biking or longboarding are the preferred methods of transport in the hip hoods of Midtown. However, Capitol Area Transit - public buses are available. Typically there is plenty of parking on Kelker Street. If not, nearby 3rd or Green Streets will always show you love. Other Things to NotePlease leave the property they way it was when you arrived: sweep up, place bagged trash in can on back porch, wipe down counters, most importantly place towels and linens in the washing machine. Smile walking out.

The SpaceThis is a large home that accommodates many people. In addition to the 4 bedrooms there is a large living room, dinning room seats 8, a large deck with an awning. There are 2 full baths and 1 half bath (near the kitchen). Guest AccessThe entire first and second floors can be made available to the guest. The basement is a lock off and not available to guests. There is a lockbox to the left of the front door for guests to use for check in regardless of arrival time. Interaction with GuestsI will typically be out of town unless indicated but am available always by phone. I maintain the basement as an apartment for myself and if I am on property my 2 dogs will be with me. They are very friendly but will want to meet you too. The NeighborhoodThis is a suburban neighborhood, there are about 50 homes in a private loop (no access to other neighborhoods), the loop is very safe and you will often see neighbors out walking. Getting AroundColonial Park Mall is about 1.5 miles from the home and there is public transportation that can be gotten at the mall. Uber is available in Harrisburg, cost to downtown Harrisburg is about $20. Other Things to NoteThis is a private home and not a "rental property". It is a home that is not always occupied and so it is a pleasure to share it. I hope that when you visit my home you have that sense of visiting a good friend.

Guest AccessGuests would have access to all parts of the house including the back yard, which has a vegetable and flower garden. There is an enclosed porch to sit and relax if desired. Interaction with GuestsI love to meet and welcome my guest to this space. This for me is the most enjoyable part of Airbnb hosting - meeting and interacting with people from different backgrounds and from different walks of life. I shall be available to welcome my guests and assist them in anyway. I am committed to making my guests as comfortable as possible. I have lived in the Harrisburg area for over 20 years and can assist with information on directions to the different attractions in the Harrisburg area. The NeighborhoodThis is a fairly quiet neighborhood, with private but friendly residents* *Occasionally, passing cars in the street or nearby main street may have their windows down with their music on in warm weather. But outside noise is considerably muted within the house. Getting AroundThe home is a two-minute walk to a bus stop on the City's public transportation system. Since the listing is off of Herr Street, a major street in Harrisburg, taxis find the place quite easily. Tea, coffee and sugar will be available in the pantry. Other Food Items Other food items like soups, tuna cans, popcorn are available in the pantry. Lots of bottled water in the refrigerator. The SpaceLocation: Located right on Susquehanna river. This home offers a 14X14 private room. We are located less than a mile to downtown, that's approximately 10-15 minutes walking distance. The apartment: You have your own private bedroom on the third floor. There is full bathroom on the 2nd floor and half bathroom on 1st floor. The house is 2,100 square feet, has 1 balconies and back patio area with with a propane gas fireplace, sitting area and a hot tub. We try to keep the house and property clean and expect our guests to do the same. The house was built in the 1890's. We basically renovated the house with an aesthetic that merges traditional colonial with a more modern yet classic feel. The kitchen has all new appliances and there is central AC on the 1st floor and 2nd floor. Your Room: Your room is approximately 14X 14. It has a queen size bed with a closet, a full size dresser, a desk amd a night stand. We have installed a box AC in the room that easily keeps it cool. In the cold season, the room has ab electric wall heater and we provide a and portable heating element to get the initial chill off. The system is controlled separate from the rest of the house. Guest AccessPrivate bedroom; shared bathroom; access to laundry area, washer, dryer, steamer and Iron, wireless internet, all kitchen appliances including coffee maker. Patio is available for your use. Actually, we are quite flexible and happy to share almost anything in the house, within reason. Interaction with GuestsI am a full-time photographer, part time waiter, I volunteer at the local Art Museum. My partner works for the Army, he is usually very busy during the day. However, I love meeting new people and am happy to have as much or little interaction as you would like. I love restaurants and know the area very well so I can probably give you some good recommendations. The NeighborhoodFront Street, sunken garden, river front garden, jogging and biking trail, City island footbridge, walking distance to several small town restaurants, on street parking, low crime area. Getting AroundI have never used the public transportation but we are near the bus route, Harrisburg also has quick cab service to include Uber.

The SpaceThis bedroom is on the top floor and is rather quiet and private up there. There is a new TV and PC in the room as well as its own heat and air conditioning. It is comfortable for two adults. There is a second smaller room that is usually vacant that you'd likely be welcome to rent for an additional $15/night. It has a pull-out bed that would work for two people. (to be clear, the $15 room is only available in conjunction with this room...not by itself) Generally speaking you'd be the only guests, but once in a while it's possible the second bedroom might be rented out. Guest AccessYou are welcome to arrive at any time, 24/7. Guests are welcome throughout the house. There are no particular quiet hours and you're welcome to stay up as late as you like and come and go as you please. You're welcome to cook and use whatever you find in the kitchen. There is a rather large living room with large TV and dining area. There is a large bar downstairs and you're welcome to sample whatever you come across if you like. I am generous as far as sharing food, drinks, etc. So feel free to help yourself to whatever you come across (you don't have to ask). At the same time, if you end up with more food or drinks than you needed and want to leave them behind, go ahead. I love a surprise! Interaction with GuestsMost of the time I'd be home to welcome you; but if not I'd certainly be in touch and would give you any needed info. Most of the time it's only me and Pusser the cat home. If I'm around and you feel like socializing, that's fine with me......and if you're the private type or tired out and want privacy, that's fine too. There could possibly a second guest in the other guestroom. That's not usually the case, but it really depends on the timing. (it's a large place and plenty of room for whomever is present) If I'm not around and you need something you can call anytime. The NeighborhoodThe house is located just outside Harrisburg. It used to be a little country church that looked like something out of Little House in the Prairie. Nowadays the area has grown. But this road still doesn't have a lot of traffic. Getting AroundYou do pretty much have to drive to everything, but at the same time it's minutes from just about anything you could want. ...Uber is available too. It's just two miles from I-81 and I-83, so if you're passing through the area it's very convenient. Other Things to NoteI do want to emphasize that this is a fairly unique property. I'm a very easy going, laid-back and recently divorced guy. The church is decorated with my own memorabilia of places I've been and things I like. This tends to be retro/vintage Americana. ...hot rods, rockabilly music (think Elvis circa 1956) I love it! But if you're looking for anything remotely like a Holiday Inn...this won't be that. It is, of course, clean and it has all modern conveniences. But it's not cookie cutter design by any means. Please be aware that Pusser the Ancient Cat will likely be home. She's small and harmless and friendly. * Like most homes in PA, there will very likely be an occasional "stink bug"! If you're not familiar with them, they are harmless but creepy looking (like most bugs). They do not bite. They don't try to get on people. They don't make any noise. I escort them outside if I come across them. Again, they are 100% harmless and they have no correlation to cleanliness. * There is an old cemetery right next to the house, as it used to be church. Nobody gets buried there any longer and it's more of a historical civil war era cemetery. But I figured I'd mention it in case someone is particularly superstitious or freaked out by cemeteries. (personally I find it weirdly charming)
