The SpaceOversized bedroom with memory foam mattress and enough floor space to inflate a queen double-height airbed to sleep more people if needed (notify me if desired before your stay!). Room features designer ceiling fan, recessed lighting, two windows and designer carpets. House is decorated with fun, playful artwork, comfortable furniture with a mid-century flair and plenty of amenities. Garage is easy to access and fits 1 car, plus one in the drive way. New build home with great temperature control, updated everything and friendly people! :) Guest AccessKitchen, downstairs reading/music lounge, upstairs tv/hangout area, laundry and upstairs back porch are all common spaces. Make yourself at home and use whatever you'd like! You'll get a garage door opener to use during your stay as your house key, and we have a hide-a-key in case you get locked out. Two bikes are available in the garage for your use, too, plus camping chairs or other amenities. Let us know if you want them and we'll make sure they're ready to go! Please send a message with your booking inquiry - I enjoy knowing whether you're traveling through, visiting the area, here for business, etc. Interaction with GuestsIf possible, I'll be home to meet you, but if I'm not available, I'll give you directions for how to get in the house on your own. Late evening arrivals are totally fine - just let us know in advance if possible. I'm Katy, your main contact and I live upstairs, Quinn (guy) is my downstairs housemate, that you may encounter, and his sweet, quiet, hypoallergenic dog that lives only downstairs is Nova (you may not even know she's here!). I love giving local food/drink/fun recommendations, so please ask! Since I do work a few different jobs, I am out and about quite a bit and unable to offer daily hotel-like housekeeping. I'll stay out of your room during your visit, but if you want extra towels or need something cleaned, etc. just let me know. Feel free to hang out with me if I'm around, but don't feel obligated to. I enjoy hearing travel stories and getting to know my guests but it doesn't always work out time wise and sometimes you just need a place to crash and I totally get that. Departure time is whenever you like (as long as it doesn't overlap too late in the day with my next night's guests), just close the garage upon leaving and slip the opener through the mail slot on the front door. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is filled with young professionals and most of the houses in our area have been renovated completely with awards in historic preservation and gorgeous designer finishes inside. We're 3 blocks from the Governor's Mansion and 2 blocks from the riverfront. The "hipsters" and professionals alike hang out at the cute coffee shop across the street, Little Amps and there's an awesome italian bakery 2 blocks away that has great homemade italian lunch specials and takes dinner reservations for weekend nights BYOB. We have very little crime in our block/area, but please do keep in mind that Harrisburg is still a city, so be aware of your surroundings when walking alone at night and if you park your car on the street, I'd recommend taking anything that looks valuable inside with you, just to be safe. Downtown is walking distance along the river front, and there are lots of great places to eat in midtown. I'd recommend driving, or taking a cab or Uber or bikes late at night over walking downtown, but that's my personal preference. Getting AroundDriving is perfect for getting to my place since I have a garage for you! You'll have to pay for parking downtown between 8am-7pm but it's free on my block other than street cleaning days where marked. If you're looking to be close to Amtrak or the capital, I'm about a 1.5-2 mile walk from either. If I'm available, I'm happy to give you a ride around as needed. There is a bus line a block away, but I've never taken it. Two bikes available for your use - just give me a heads up if you want them! Uber and cabs are also available. Ask if you need directions or suggestions for anything! Other Things to NoteAs noted above, we do have a new addition to the house - Nova, a sweet, quiet, well-behaved, non-shedding Golden Doodle puppy. She is all black, has hair instead of fur which doesn't shed much, and often stays in Quinn's room in her crate, and only lives downstairs so you may not even know she's there. Please read our house rules regarding the dog prior to your stay in terms of keeping her from getting out. As mentioned, she doesn't bark or whine hardly at all. She's friendly with everyone and quite smart. We have allergy meds and earplugs on hand if anyone needs them, but so far it has not been an issue at all.
