Harrison has some great antique stores, some restaurants, an ice cream shop, gas station, and boat launch. Crystal Lake is smaller lake about a 3 minute drive from our house with a sandy beach and playground. Parking and use of the lake is free while you are staying at our house. The quaint town of Bridgton is about a 10 minute drive where you will find mom and pop shops, restaurants, and a movie theater. The town of Naples is on the other end of the lake and accessible by car or boat. If you boat there, you can dock the boat and do some shopping and have a bite to eat. Naples also has paddle boats to rent, an old paddle-wheel boat, The Songo River Queen, that you can take a ride on, and seaplane tours of the area. The Fryeburg Fair, in Fryeburg, ME, is a "Maine attraction" and is always held the first week of October. On your way to the fair, stop of Stephen King's organic apple orchard and store, The Pietree Orchard. They have amazing donuts! North Conway is about 45 minutes away with lots of shopping and areas to hike. Portland, ME and Old Orchard Beach are about an hour away. Bar Harbor is about 2 hours away. There is a lot to do in the area, but the house is so relaxing you may not want to leave! Getting AroundYou will need a car to get to and from the house. You can boat into the town of Harrison or Naples. You can also boat from Long Lake, through the locks, to Lake Sebago. Other Things to NoteIf you are bringing a boat, we suggest you put it in the water at the boat launch in Harrison and have someone boat to the house. It's about a 10 minute boat ride from the launch in Harrison to our house. Our driveway is steep and has a sharp curve at the end, making in difficult to get boats in and out. Please do not bring boats down to the house, because of this.
