The SpaceThis house is a work in progress. It has basic comforts. The downstairs fireplace is in operating condition. The upstairs fire place must NOT be used for fires. Security system. The house was the home of longtime Helena physician, Dr. L. J. Bell. There is nothing fancy about this place. No cable TV, no Internet (at least not yet). It is a perfect house for Blues travelers and it a short walking distance to King Biscuit Blues Festival Venues. Guest AccessGuests have use of all common areas of the house. There is a full size washer and dryer. The kitchen is fully furnished. The attic and basement are off limits to guests. Interaction with GuestsI interact with guests as much as I am able if they wish for any interaction. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is near the Mississippi River in the Beech Street Historic District. Much work has been done in this area, and much more work remains. Only 5 blocks from King Biscuit venues. Getting AroundTravel by car is best. There is no public transit in Helena. Getting to King Biscuit venues by walking is easy and best done by walking east on Rightor Street all the way to Cherry Street, 5 blocks away. Other Things to NoteGuests may park their vehicle in the driveway next door to the house, which I also own. The doors are not self locking, so guests will need to lock the door each time they enter and exit.

The SpaceThe Parkview is a 2nd-floor apartment directly across from Cherry Street Park in historic downtown Helena Arkansas. It has undergone a painstaking restoration and is now available for you to enjoy. Guest AccessOn-street parking is available just outside the front door. During festivals, it may be necessary to park in the back and walk around. The front door is unlocked via a secret code that you will be given upon completion of your booking. There is an alarm system, also operated by the same code. (These codes are generated especially for your stay and will be erased upon your departure.) Instructions for arming and disarming the alarm system will be provided to you upon completion of your booking. Interaction with GuestsIf we are not in town at the time of your stay, we will be available via phone if any questions arise. The NeighborhoodThere are many historic sites within a few blocks of the Parkview. A great place to start your tour is the Delta Cultural Center at 141 Cherry Street (just 3 blocks south). You can also ask any of the friendly people you encounter downtown for their recommendations. We highly suggest walking or biking out to the river (about 2 miles round trip). Go north on Cherry Street two blocks, turn right just past the Courthouse, go up on the levee and head right on the paved road. This will wind you out to the river. At the end of the road, there is an elevated boardwalk through the trees that takes you right out to the bank of the river. Getting AroundYou are allowed use of the bicycles stored in the stair hall. Please take the lock with you and use it if you plan to stop somewhere on your journey and leave the bicycle unattended. Other Things to NoteThe kitchen has all new appliances, dishes, and cooking instruments. The living room has a modern TV and stereo. You can play Blue Ray & DVDs on the TV. (No cable.) The living room also has a large couch and loveseat. There is a first-aid kit in the bathroom vanity along with toothpaste, toothbrushes, and saline solution (in case you forget any of these). Also in the bathroom vanity, you will find plenty of extra towels, toilet paper, and a hair dryer. The washer and dryer at the end of the hall are available for your use. You are allowed use of the bicycle stored in the stair hall. Please take the lock with you and use it if you plan to stop somewhere on your journey and leave the bicycle unattended. Wear a helmet. Ride at your own risk.

The SpaceThe buildings were build in 1882 and are two of the oldest in Helena. Both buildings were completely rehabbed beginning in 2014 and we continue to make improvements. The original pressed metal façade is truly unique and one of the few remaining in Arkansas. Both buildings are on the National Registry of Historic Places. We provide glasses, coffee, coffee cups, coffer maker, pots, pans, plates, silverware. Water, beer, soda and wine (red and white) are stocked in your refrigerator. Complimentary chocolates. Guest AccessGuest have access to the front balcony anytime. There is a gas grill for guest to use. The tables and chairs have beach umbrellas for shade. There is normally a gentle breeze blowing on Cherry St. Cognac and quality cigars are encouraged. Interaction with GuestsCindy and I will always make ourselves available to guests. We have traveled extensively and enjoy visiting with people from different parts of the world. We will visit with guests for as much or as little as the guests desire. It is very quiet and tranquil at night. Perfect for a romantic weekend getaway. Cindy and I, both widowers, met on Cherry St just a few years ago and were recently married on the balcony. The NeighborhoodWe are located in the center of Cherry St within walking distance to many attractions. The balcony is the largest in the city and affords guests the best views in town. Getting AroundTaxi and Uber are limited however they really won't be needed. One can walk to restaurants and grocery store. It is a two block distance to the concert area. The Isle of Capri Casino is five minutes away by car. Other Things to NoteHelena has some of the best history in the US. Hernando DeSoto crossed the Mississippi at Helena in 1541 and he died near Lake Village in 1543. There were several Civil War battles that were fought in and around Helena and history buffs can spend enjoyable days touring the Civil War battle sites and graveyards. Helena has an almost mystical charm. It is a walkers and bikers paradise with several interesting trails. The Mississippi River is mesmerizing and just a short walk away. It is a wildlife and bird sanctuary. If you get real lucky you just might see an Ivory Billed Woodpecker or "Bubba," the legendary giant alligator that travels up and down the Mississippi.
