The SpaceOur Hydeaway Bay Beach Hut is located on the absolute beach front at Hydeaway Bay at the Whitsundays. The hut is bright, clean, open plan and sleeps a maximum of three adults and two children. (Queen bed, single bed & two camp stretchers). It has a lovely relaxed feel and is a great place to unwind, play old fashioned board games, bbq and enjoy the beautiful beach surroundings. We rely on rain water so it is really important to use water carefully. Just off the foreshore is coral reef, on a very low tide you can walk quite a distance out and see colourful corals, sea cucumbers, clams and other creatures. There are lots of sea turtles in the area, and you can see whales in winter. People enjoy fishing off the beach. There are kangaroos in the area, so you need to be especially careful driving at dawn and dusk. There are also lots of birds - look for the bush turkey nest right next to the escarpment, there's also kookaburras, owls, cockatoos, parrots, sea eagles just to name a few. You might see Dingos too. The water is often glassy flat and crystal clear - perfect for snorkelling or going out paddling in our Canadian canoe. (You can swim all winter, in summer in North Queensland, there are stingers (jellyfish) so it is safer to wear stinger suits (or pantyhose works fine) when swimming or swim in the enclosure at Dingo Beach. Hydeaway Bay is a beach community made up of retirees and holiday homes. It is about 45 minutes drive north of Airlie Beach (50 km), and 40 minutes east of Proserpine. It is just a few minutes drive from neighbouring Dingo Beach. The Dingo Beach Pub provides meals, petrol, convenience store and bait. There is a boat ramp at Dingo, and you can hire fishing boats from there. There is a caravan park at Hydeaway Bay which sells bread and milk and other small items. There is also community hall where there is a tennis court for hire, and you might catch a zumba class if you’re up early. There are two resorts within a few minutes drive, Cape Gloucester Eco Resort & Montes Reef Resort which face Gloucester Island. Both places serve lovely restaurant meals (seafood is a speciality), and there is nothing quite like a cocktail watching the sun go down. The eco-resort has a lovely pool for year round swimming by the outside bar area. We recommend you buy your supplies (groceries and drinks) in Proserpine or at Cannonvale (Airlie Beach) before you drive out to the hut. In Proserpine the IGA is the newish grocery store, in Cannonvale there is a big Woolworths (inside a shopping centre with other shops/liquor/chemist/butcher and so on) If you are shopping in Proserpine you should take some time out to visit the fun homewares/everything else store called “Colour Me Crazy” – ask anyone in Prossie where it is and they can give you directions – it’s worth the trip. There are a number of restaurants in Airlie Beach, and this is also the departure point for charter boat trips out to the Islands / Reef from. There is a big mango tree beside the water tank, if you are here in the summer you can pick and enjoy our lovely bowen special mangos! Please feel free to contact me to tell me about yourself and let me know what you are looking for - maybe you will be perfect for the hut and the hut perfect for you! Other Things to NoteWe are flexible about check in and check out times if there are no other guests coming directly before you or after. Just check with me and we'll see what we can do.

The NeighborhoodHorseshoe Bay Resort and Caravan Park, where the bush really does meet the beach, is situated at the tip of Cape Edgecumbe here in Bowen. A special little spot where the sun rises and sets over the water, and the bay never runs out of water. The resort is surrounded by four sandy beaches and the reef is just off shore making for some amazing snorkeling and diving - it has been said to be as good as the great barrier reef. The lovely sandy beach is patrolled by the Queensland Surf Life Savers during the school holidays and on weekends in stinger season. There is also a handy boat ramp close by so that you can access the many great fishing spots that Bowen has to offer. The Horseshoe Bay Resort is on the circuit of one of the most scenic bush walks in the area, with rocky granite outcrops, ocean views, beach walks, fauna and flora, all for you to enjoy. The resort is set on 5 acres of bush and tropical gardens at the end of Horseshoe Bay Road, just 5kms from town with a bus shelter at the front door and a paved walking track. There are two restaurants and a cafe all within a short walk, as well as the weekly Sunday markets. This is a great place for anyone interested in swimming, diving, snorkeling, fishing, walking, cycling, kayaking, rock climbing or just plain old-fashioned relaxing - do as much or as little as you like. At Horseshoe Bay Resort, we have a range of accommodation options to suit all budgets and requirements, for singles, couples and families, tourists or corporate. Other Things to NoteSwimming is safe with four beaches to choose from, Horseshoe Bay which never runs out of water, Greys bay which is great for a paddle especially if the wind is in the south, Coral Bay if you are looking for seclusion and lastly the clothing optional beach at the end of the point. Snorkelling and diving at Horseshoe Bay is exceptional. Uniquely being able to walk off the beach to experience what has been compared to the Great Barrier Reef. Port Denison offers excellent sailing opportunities with twilight racing available through winter. All visitors welcome at the North Queensland Cruising Yatch Club. Fishing opportunities are endless, with on shore reefs or venture further to the islands to try your luck. The mackerel patch is well known in the winter months, with locals and travellers. A very convenient boat ramp adjacent to the resort. Excellent scenic bush walking, experiencing rocky outcrops, bush and beaches along many of the tracks for all levels of fitness. Kayaking is another popular pass time especially in Greys Bay. Rock climbing, popular especially with the young, offering many levels of expertise. Yasso point is the place to go for wind and kite surfing, either to experience or as a spectator. The Bowen golf course is set along Queens Beach and the 19th hole positioned with ocean views. Bowen has two bowls clubs, both offering shaded rinks and very friendly members to welcome any visitors. The local tennis club also happily caters to visitors. The Summergarden Theatre always screening the latest on offer in the movie world. The local Arts Society is opened to the public on Wednesdays and looks forward to welcoming visitors to the gallery or work rooms. A visit to the Museum or the Catalina museum is a very interesting and insightful way to spend a couple of hours, then join the mural society for their informative walk, through winter, introducing the many murals depicting the way of life and the ancestry of Bowen. The Front Beach is a great place to take the kids with the water park and skate rink available year round or just to BBQ, relax and feed the birds. Don't miss the Hansen Park markets on Horseshoe Bay Road every Sunday, with many stalls serving a variety of goods, from our local produce to arts and crafts or listen to the local entertainers. Queens Beach Markets are held every month at the Queens Beach Park on the corner of the Esplanade. There are quite a few lookouts displaying the many varied aspects of Bowen, beach, bush, warfs, islands and farm land.

The resort is set on 5 acres of bush and tropical gardens at the end of Horseshoe Bay Road, just 5kms from town with a bus shelter at the front door and a paved walking track. There are two restaurants and a cafe all within a short walk, as well as the weekly Sunday markets.
