The best of all worlds; an excellent B&B and an apartment with a live in housekeeper ~ come and go as you please(URL HIDDEN)~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In the heart of Victorian High Gate, home to Ken Wood House and the famous High Gate cemetery and resting place of Karl Marx & George Eliot; the apartment is on a beautiful tree-lined avenue on the upper ground floor with just 12 steps to the front door. Once inside everything is on one level. There is double glazing and gas central heating so it stays warm in Winter. The apartment has the feel of a lived in family home, which it is.(URL HIDDEN)~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The bedroom looks out onto the pleasant garden and Queens Wood, which means a peaceful and Idyllic setting for your stay. You can hear the singing from the birds’ evening chorus and dawn chorus at sunset and sunrise. The bedroom is light and airy with perfect views over Queens Wood in its Autumn colors. The bedroom has ample storage space with a tall double wardrobe, dressing table, small wardrobe and arm chair. The bedroom measures 12 feet 9 inch (3 m 89 cm) by 9 ft 9 in (2 m 97 cm). The bedroom has an English double bed which is 4 ft (1 m 22 cm) by 6 ft 3 in ( 1 m 91 cm). English double beds are all 6 ft 3 in long and shorter than standard continental double beds. Taller guests please note. Tea & coffee making facilities are available 24 hours a day in the kitchen. A tailored continental breakfast is served in the kitchen and times are usually between 6.30 am and 9.00 am but breakfast outside these times can be arranged, e.g. for earlier departures to catch flights. If you have not had the opportunity to say what you would like on the first morning a sweet continental breakfast of freshly squeezed orange juice, croissants (or crumpets if preferred) with jam, fruit and yogurt is served with tea or coffee. Some guests prefer an alternative continental breakfast can be served of freshly squeezed orange juice, boiled eggs, ham or salami, cheese, salad and bread with tea or coffee. All guest preferences will be accommodated if possible, just as you would expect when going to stay with friends. Our housekeeping standards are the best. The bed will be made daily and the bedroom cleaned daily as are the other areas. Bed linen is changed twice a week. More frequent changing can be accommodated if needed. Fresh towels can be provided daily but guests may prefer to have towels changed less frequently from an environmental perspective. Other laundry needs may be accommodated. The bathroom, which is also used by your host, has an original wash basin, and a cast iron bath and thermostatic over bath shower, with high level cistern water closet (WC toilet). The bathroom has softened water for a touch of luxury. The living room, which is shared with your host, has two sofas and a large screen plasma television, with the full range of digital free view and free satellite channels. The television is wired with High Definition cables allowing you to connect your laptop hardware to access your multimedia accounts. This means you can watch your Netflix movies on large screen. Free Internet access provided Guest AccessAs a guest you have priority access to the bathroom. Also, you are welcome to use the kitchen, where breakfast is served, to prepare hot drinks or a light meal at other times. You are welcome to use the living room to watch television, listen to music or relax. Internet access is provided free. Parking is available free on the street on a first come first served basis. The NeighborhoodThe smart village of Highgate, nestled between woods and parkland north of central London first attracted Victorians in search of the clean air in the pretty hilltop village. This neighborhood is chosen by many celebrities, artists and intellectuals, including Sting, George Michael and Kate Moss, who recently bought the house, which was home to the poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Other historic writers and poets whose homes are celebrated with blue plaques or older brown plaques in High gate. Overlooking Queen’s Wood historic woodland in a beautiful and safe residential tree-lined road between High gate Wood is where we are located. Many excellent restaurants and cafeterias, as well as tennis courts in Water low Park, are close by. Equally you can enjoy the outdoors with the amenities of Queens Wood, Parkland Walk and High gate Wood on the doorstep. Hamp stead Heath, where Summer concerts are hosted at Ken wood House, is also a walk away. There are corner shops with excellent shopping nearby in fashionable Crouch End. Whether you are a business travelers needing to be in easy reach of the City or visiting London for a short holiday break this location is ideal offering brilliant connections and relief from crowds of tourists in the center of London. Getting AroundMoments from High gate underground station, a direct connection from St Pancras International, as well as Euston, London Bridge, Kings Cross and Charing Cross and Waterloo national rail stations. London’s night buses connect you from the West End in just 15 minutes. Both road and public transport connections to Heathrow airport are excellent with only one change on the London Underground. The City, the British Museum, Leicester Square, and West End nightlife can all be reached direct by bus or underground. It is a genuine 5 minute walk from the front door to High gate tube (zone 3) on the Northern Line. Archway tube (zone 2) is a longer walk. There are several 24 hour buses (43, 134, N 20) with the W 5 and 263 just as close. London’s night buses connect you from the West End in just 15 minutes. The City, the British Museum, Leicester Square, and West End nightlife can all be reached direct by bus or underground. Other Things to NoteOn check-in passports or national identity cards will need to be scanned. Pillows and duvets are synthetic and regularly laundered at hotter temperatures to minimize allergy risk. The SpaceWe have three bright, spacious and fresh rooms for single or double occupancy in a large newly restored Victorian house, near to public transport connecting you with the City and West End of London. If you wish to book for more than 2 adults guests please visit our other web page 'Single & double room in Highgate Village. We are also well connected with the Olympic Park, Canary Wharf and Twickenham via the overground trains. There are some great parks,restaurants and coffee shop nearby! Free internet connection and access to large shared kitchen. Situated close to the village with its pubs, restaurants and shops. Hampstead Heath within walking distance. Guest AccessYou will have access to our large kitchen while staying with us to prepare simple meals. If weather permits there is also a nice green garden. We also offer washing service for our longer staying guests. Interaction with GuestsWe leave the level of interaction to our guests as some prefer privacy at all times others like a chat around the kitchen table or playing board game after a day out. Each room has its own TV. The NeighborhoodHighgate Village offer some great eating and drinking in addition to plenty of parks. Hampstead Heath and Highgate Wood (our wild parks) are within walking distance. There are also plenty of shops to pick up some grocery should you prefer to eat in. Getting AroundOur nearest underground station is Archway (zone2) which will take you to the West End within 20 min. We also have Upper Holloway nearby which is our overground station. Both of these can be reached by foot or by taking one of 6 buses which all stop within 2 min walk from our house. Despite all this it is very quite in our house - no traffic noise what so ever! The apartment was built in 1924 and is mock tudor style on the historic Holly Lodge Estate, centrally located in sought after Leafy Highgate, close to Hampstead Heath and the famous Gothic Highgate Cemetary (where Karl Marx is buried) , The flat is bright and spacious, with all mod cons, open plan Kitchen / lounge and large double bedroom, stylish new bathroom and kitchen. The flat is on the ground floor with south facing large bright windows, and the area is so lovely and quiet, you could hear a pin drop in the mornings! The area has many olde worlde pubs such as The Flask, in Highgate Village and vintage pub the old Ale and Cider House down the road. Transport links to central London, West End and Kings Cross nly 20 minutes on the local bus , also only 10 minutes to the famous bohemium market and night life of Camden Town and Camden Lock Market and 20mins to the best shopping eperience in the world on Oxford Street! The flat is never cold, has underfloor heating, and is secure with a video entry phone. I will leave hospitality towels , clean sheets and basic toiletries for your comfort. There is a TV for your relaxation, use of my printer, and a bookshelf for your perusal. Local supermarket and lovely cafe;s down the road. This really is a very beautiful and sought after part of London to stay. I am happy to advise on places for you to visit, recommend local restaurants and tell you about some of the secret and hidden treasures of London, as I am a born and bred Londoner through and through. If you fancy something more lively- Kentish Town or Camden is just down the road - 5 minutes on the local and frequent buses...where you can explore the canal, bohemium market, and music venues in Camden . I can recommend good local restaurants and gastropubs such as The Flask and the quirky Ale and Cider House.. Super easy to get to the City, East End, and Central London and come home to a peaceful retreat! Getting AroundSituated in Zone 2, Archway or Kentish Town tube Stations on the Nothern Line are the nearest stations 10 minutes walk away . The SpaceAn architect converted semi-detached house with private secluded garden. Leafy quiet Highgate location with views over Highgate cemetery, Waterlow park and Hampstead heath closeby. 20 min from central London by bus or tube (Northern). Archway (northern line) is 15 min walk way, numerous buses to Central London 5 min walk away. The house dates from 1927 and has been fully converted from the inside to make it a bright, welcoming space. The bedrooms are comfortable and absolutely quiet at night ensuring you a very good night's sleep. The kitchen is fully equipped with double oven, 4 gas cooker, Smeg fridge/freezer, bread maker, nespresso coffee machine, shake mixer, microwave, kettle, le creuset pans/pots and all the cooking ustensils you'll ever need. The lounge is spacious with wooden floors throughout. We have just added a swing chair to make the most of the views through the floor to ceiling windows with a cocktail or cup of tea in hand. The garden on the west side comes with an outdoor L shaped sofa space, additional tables and chairs area and barbecue for al fresco dinners. The kitchen has double doors which interconnect with the garden, a great layout for making the most of summer evenings. Staying at this property you will be able to enjoy the proximity to world famous Highgate cemetery, where many well known figures are buried (including Karl Marx), and stunning Waterlow park 3 min walk away. You are just 100 yards from the famous Highgate Cemetery. The beautiful village of Highgate along with the open spaces of Hampstead Heath which are just a 10 minute walk away. The City of London, famous West End, and fabulous sights are easily and quickly accessible, whilst the tranquillity of Highgate is the perfect place to escape and relax after a busy day. Most of my guests already know Highgate and why it's such a popular base for The City, their reviews say it all..... Getting AroundThere is a regular bus service from the end of the road (2 minutes walk) which in turn, is just 5 minutes bus ride from Kentish Town TUBE station on the Northern Line with regular Underground trains into central London. The SpaceOur rarely available lovely light-filled family flat is on the first (British) floor of an original 1930s red brick building. Perfect for 2 small families or a group of close friends. The flat is spacious and beautifully architect designed with original paintings on the walls and parquet floors. BEDROOMS AND BEDS There are 2 bedrooms with 5 beds which sleep 7 people. More comfortable if at least 1 person is a child! Enjoy peaceful sleep. Details are below. BEDROOM ONE contains two single bunk beds (Ikea), each with a good quality a 90 cm wide Sultan mattress (Ikea); AND a fold-out Ikea sofa which sleeps 2 on a mattress 120 cm wide. BEDROOM TWO contains a brand new king size bed with a new high quality Hyllestad king size mattress (150 cm wide, Ikea) firm, with pocket springs and memory foam; AND a loft bed with a good quality a 90 cm wide Sultan mattress (Ikea). OTHER ROOMS. There is a large reception room with fireplace (non-operational), spacious hallway with fireplace (non-operational), and a gourmet eat-in kitchen with a balcony. There is a full bathroom and two WCs. IN BEDROOM 1 AND 2 there are soft toys and children's books and board games, which you are welcome to use. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A REAL FAMILY FLAT NOT A RENTAL FLAT, SO IT CONTAINS SOME PERSONAL EFFECTS. Guest AccessGuests will have access to a well kept communal garden. Access to the whole flat, except for one room locked for storage. The flat is on the first (British) floor, so just one floor up from the ground level. There is no elevator. The stairs are wide. with a banister - so should be OK with a stroller (pram). Please note that any stroller (pram) must be kept inside the flat, in a spacious hallway (not outside the flat). You will have one set of keys, unless you request an additional set in advance. Interaction with GuestsMy friend Irina will help with check-in and check-out, and will be you reliable local contact. The NeighborhoodThis is a convenient and friendly neighbourhood. Also, just across the road there is a really lovely large park Highgate Wood with an excellent playground and cafe (visit City of London site and look for Highgate Wood); and another park Queens Wood with another cafe (visit Queens Wood Cafe site). Both are less than 5 minute walk from the flat. In the parks it feels as if you are in the English countryside. Just on the corner or within a few minutes walk there are a few small shops (milk, bread, eggs), a pharmacy, and Jacskon's Lane - which is a local child-friendly cultural space with a cafe open from 10 am (visit Jackson's Lane site). Inside the flat you will find Guest Notes with detailed information about the local neighbourhood. There are several cafes and traditional English pubs within short walking distance, as well as a few small shops. There are also two large and beautiful parks across the road, with two cafes and a great playground for the children. Park is open from 7.30 am all day. Perfect for a jog, family walk or tea at the cafe. Highgate Wood is mentioned in Domesday Book. Highgate Village which is within a short walk, it is very peaceful and pretty. Hampstead Heath with bathing ponds and a large Lido swimming pool is about 15-20 minute walk. Or you can visit the historic Highgate Cemetery where Karl Marx and other famous people are buried! Tube station is called Highgate (Northern Line). You can check out tube maps on Transport for London website. Tube station is very close to my flat - less than 5 minute walk, just across the road. By tube, the flat is only 13 mins to Kings Cross, 17 mins to Leicester Square, 18 mins to Charing Cross (in the West End); or 18 mins to Old Street and 23 mins to London Bridge (in the City and Southbank) all direct trains, no need to change. There are also several buses which stop on the corner, including a night bus (N20), which goes to Trafalgar Square, and a 24-hour bus (43), which goes to London Bridge and the City. Bus stop is within 50 meters of my building. Other Things to NoteEnjoy a marble-top gourmet kitchen with a small balcony and original parquet floors. Broadband WiFi and digital Panasonic 37' screen TV with dozens of TV channels will provide hours of entertainment. Please note that this is a real family flat with art on the walls and some personal things in it, not a rental airbnb property.

The SpaceA really special and beautiful bijou apartment in the heart of Highgate Village. We have just fully refurbished the place with lots of love and attention to detail and to a very high spec including features such as fast broadband wifi and a full Sonos music system. The brand new open plan kitchen features Smeg appliances and an island that comfortably seats 4 people with an integrated dishwasher, washer dryer and butler sink... the kitchen is equipped for cooks with a full set of copper pans and a gas hob. We have a really cosy lounge area with exposed brick fireplace, antique planters chair that has travelled here from Australia and a beautiful leather love seat that is perfect for two. Moving into the bathroom, we have built a walk in wetroom which has been finished in a warm bronze ceramic throughout and has underfloor heating. There is also a quaint terrace off the lounge area surrounded by wooden planters which house fresh herbs for any cooking enthusiasts.... perfect for a romantic breakfast for two in the morning sunshine. The bedroom is simply stunning, with its high ceilings and original sash windows that look out (email hidden) area with lots of trees... We have put a large kingsize bed in there and furnished it with the best bedding money can buy including feather pillows and a percale cotton and duck feather mattress topper that literally feels like sleeping on a cloud!!!! - you will not want to get out of bed in a hurry during your stay that is a promise :-) The bedroom offers lots of space and light with floor to ceiling wall to wall wardrobes featuring large mirrors opposite the bed and is the ultimate romantic sanctuary after dark when lit by candlelight... As you can see we have really put our hearts into our home and we want to share it with others who we hope will love spending time here too. The final touch to our beautiful flat is its location.... we are literally a few minutes walk away from the world famous Hampstead Heath which offers endless walks beautiful views of the city and lots of festivals and live concerts during the summer months..... along with this tranquility we also have Highgate village less than one minutes walk away which has a beautiful square that is surrounded with boutique and mainstream shops and cafes that cater for all tastes and budgets..... The village also benefits from at least 4 cosy pubs some of which serve award winning food!!!!! We also have excellent travel links into central london for those who want to see what is on offer there...... All in all, we feel this flat offers something for everyone and we look forward to greeting you in London and sharing our beautiful home with you whilst you are here..... The SpaceThe flat is in a quiet spot overlooking an internal park with no passing traffic at all as there are no cars allowed into the estate. Guest AccessGuests can use all facilities such as kitchen, bathroom, wifi etc. Parking is on Dartmouth Park Hill which runs on one side of the estate going north, or on Raydon Street at the south end. Interaction with GuestsIf we are home we are happy for our guests to interact with us as if it was their space. If we are in a phase of working very hard, we do often slip off to bed around 10 pm though so we're not exactly party animals! The NeighborhoodThe neighbourhood is fabulous. Archway tube is close which gets you into town really quickly but the joy of the area is all the places on the doorstep such as the divine Waterlow Park, Highgate Village for great pubs, Hampstead Heath for beautiful walks and amazing views of the London Skyline and the cafes of Swain's Lane only a short walk away. Getting AroundArchway Tube - Northern line (15 mins to Leicester Square) Good bus routes such as the C11 which heads west, the No. 4 into the city, the 271 to Hoxton and many other bus routes into central London. Other Things to NoteSometimes my neighbour gets a bit shouty at her kids but she's harmless really! Tea and coffee are available but we don't supply breakfast. However, you are more than welcome to use the fridge and kitchen to prepare some breakfast or a snack. We often have couples that live in different cities writing to us saying they are looking to reunite for a romantic weekend in London. We don't really think our place is suitable for this and we would recommend a hotel !

The SpaceQuiet room in modern house, fully equipped, own toilet and sink, share bath/shower with owner. The bed is double and can accommodate 2 easily. It is an IKEA pull down sofa bed on slats and is firm though comfortable. In warm weather guests can use the courtyard for sitting or eating. There is a nice outlook over London approaching the house and from the bedroom window. Guest AccessUse of all rooms, living room, dining, kitchen, courtyard, washer/dryer, local telephone calls but not long distance, broadband and Wi-Fi, all utensils, dishes, linen. Interaction with GuestsLike my own space. Chat is okay and happy to offer information on local colour or places to visit if asked. The NeighborhoodEverything is here. There is a village atmosphere and historical sites, plaques, houses and a well known cemetery, complete with booked tours, where people like Karl Marx and George Elliot are buried There are celebrities dotted around the area if you can recognise them when at home. The area is considered safe with lots of green space within walking distance including the country feel of Hampstead Heath, Kenwood House with its Gainsboroughs, Reynolds and Rembrandt, once owned by Lord Mansfield and home to Belle featured in one of 2014 best films, numerous, walks, seating areas and a delightful cafe. In Spring the Rhododendrums are spectacular. This is a vast area to explore but we also have Highgate Woods and Waterloo Park each attractive and with their own unique features. There are shops. banks, chemists old traditional pubs, a local theatre, swimming pool, gym all nearby, and even a surgery and hospital should you be unfortunate enough to need them. Dear traveller, We are offering a lovely double bed room in a 3 bedroom Garden House in the heart of Highgate facing the Highgate woods. 3 minute walk to Highgate tube (northern line),9 min away from Camden Town and 15 min from Central London. The location and the view of our back garden makes this house special and feels like home. You enjoy both the nights and the days here as it is really safe , quiet and picturesque. The SpaceThe room is fairly large with its own balcony, bathroom, digital T.V and wardrobe for storage. The bed is a comfy standard double. Good WiFi and plenty of reading material. All fresh linen and towels provided, as well as breakfast. Use of kitchen and dining room for breakfast, tea and coffee more than welcome as is the garden in the summer. The village is a short 5 minute stroll away for all the cosy pubs, many restaurants and coffee shops. Highgate is the lifestyle choice for many celebrities (George Michael, Kate Moss etc) but has a homely charm with its lovely mix of architecture and green spaces. Highgate tube is 7 min walk for the Northern Line into the West End in 25 minutes or Kings Cross/St Pancras for national and international trains in 20 minutes. We are also very well served for buses to Islington, Shoreditch, Columbia Road, Hampstead Village, Camden etc... Hampstead Heath with its acres of woodlands, meadows and swimming ponds is within easy walking distance (10 min) as is Highgate Woods, Queens Wood and Waterlow Park. The fabulous Kenwood House for summer concerts and its amazing free gallery is also close by along with the famous Highgate Cemetery with all its well known permanent residents....

Our place is conveniently located for walking everywhere; the Village for its great gastro pubs, the bustling bohemian Crouch End for cafes and restaurants and Hampstead Heath for its open spaces. A bus or walk to Muswell Hill, you will find an art deco cinema with a bar. ** FABULOUS CAFE over the road, for steaming hot coffee first thing in the morning, as well as a late night corner shop two doors down for that forgotten bottle of wine, and a newsagents that will hold your paper for a lazy Sunday morning. If you like antique shops, and second hand nicknacks Highgate has lots to enchant the bargain hunter. Getting Around** STONE THROWS away from Highgate Station (Northern Line), 15 minutes to Kings Cross. 25 minutes into Waterloo/London Bridge, and a 24hr bus route. We are on the main road so we feel safe traveling late at night - we couldn't wish for more. ** FARE AND TICKETS The most cost-effective rail route to London from Heathrow is the Piccadilly Line trains which run from all terminals and journey time is 70 – 80 minutes. Change at Kings Cross onto the Northern Line (High Barnet - not Edgware). You'll need an Oyster card - and you can get this at the station- there is a £5 deposit – but worth it if you are doing a lot of traveling on the underground and tube. The single fare to central London (Zone 1) is £5.70 cash price – or £3 on your Oyster card. Oyster pay-as-you-go fares are £5 deposits. Highgate (Zone 3) will £5.70 cash price - or £1.50 on your Oyster Card. So worth it. A one-day Travelcard, giving unlimited travel in Zones 1 - 6, costs £17 (Anytime) or £8.90 (off-peak). Weekly Zones 1-3 £36.80. You can get these loaded onto your Oyster card at the underground station. Returns are £39 on board or £34 in advance. Then the underground, Northern Line to Highgate. The Easybus - £3 from Luton/Stansted to Bakers St underground 90mins, Bakers St on Circle Line, change at Kings Cross for Northern Line to Highgate. National Express Coaches to London Finchley Road bus station, £8 from Luton Airport (60mins), and £10 from Stansted Airport (80mins), not worth is from Heathrow, and from Gatwick to London Victoria bus station £8, and then you need to get the underground Victoria Line to Euston, and change to the Northern Line for Highgate. Taxi fares to Highgate are around £45 pre booked from Heathrow, £70 from Stansted and Luton and £60 from Gatwick. I can arrange for someone to meet you at the airport if you prefer – just let me know. In all cases the journey will take about 1hr in good traffic. Other Things to NoteThe studio is LOCATED ON A MAIN ROUTE INTO LONDON, though we have very good double glazed windows and aircon, a few guests have been a bit sensitive to the noise of London traffic. However, most do not find it a problem and I do have ear plugs if necessary.
