Located close to Ring Road for easy 20 minute drive to Torquay which is the gateway to the Great Ocean Road which has fabulous beaches and walking trails. A good base for trips to Bellarine Peninsula's wine district and Geelongs waterfront and Botanical Gardens. Guest AccessYou will have access to bedroom, ensuite, dining, lounge, carpark and yard(2nd bedroom is unavailable). There is a flat is attached to the main house but entrance is separate and you will have total privacy.(which is tenanted to a University student.) Interaction with GuestsPlease advise your anticipated time of arrival. We will provide you with the keys and leave you to enjoy your stay. If you require any assistance or information during your stay simply phone us or knock on our neighbours door. The NeighborhoodIt is a quiet and safe residential area close to our local shopping village and coffee shop. We are close to the Ring Road for easy access to the Surf Coast which is great for surfing and fun. Melbourne is 1 hours drive away and the Bellarine Peninsula is 30 minutes drive. Getting AroundThere is access to public transport. Trains from Melbourne to Geelong is approx. 1hour and a connecting bus can be used to get to our home. Buses can also be used to get down the Great Ocean Road. Ring Road is close by for easy access by car. We have 2 mountain bikes available for your use while with us.     The SpaceWelcome and thank you for checking our listing! The house: We have a bedroom with queen sized bed and access to a private bathroom. Your private balcony is overlooking the Barwon river which offers you amazing views. In addition to your bedroom you can make use of small sitting room with TV. What we will be sharing is the use of the fully equipped kitchen (with owners). The house has two levels, with a few stairs between. Available only to 3 people of the one group: we can accommodate 1 extra person in sofa bed, if you are all willing to share your bathroom with each other. There is an extra cost of $50 per night for this. We also have a single folding bed which would be suitable for a child travelling with parents - no additional cost. There is parking outside of the property in a safe, quiet court location. What to do: House is located in a picturesque suburb 3 km from downtown Geelong. Less than a 30 minute drive to start of the Great Ocean Road, one of the great Australian attractions and offers the most spectacular sightings you can imagine. The house is even closer to Bellarine Peninsula where you will find beautiful beaches, farms and wineries. How to get to us: We are less than an hour by car or train to downtown Melbourne. 70 minutes from Melbourne's International (& Domestic) Airport and 30 minutes from domestic airport at Avalon near Geelong.     The SpaceWe are an easy, breezy, come & go as you pleasy household. We like to inform each other where, when & how long we may be gone though. We make sure everyone does their fair share of duties within our household,. We appreciate cleanliness, organization, courtesy, respect and friendliness. We love our pets! Antonio the Cat and Tsar a recent addition - a Russian Blue. We have 1 Queen size bedroom which is exclusively for our guests. We have another Queen size bedroom available which is our Son's room and he has a bed upstairs to use if we need to house further guests. We also have single room for budget conscious travellers! Guest AccessGuests will have the run of the ground floor with the exception of the teenager's bedrooms. They are COMPLETELY out of BOUNDS! You have a massive throne bath in new bathroom to soak in, a laundry to do washing in, however, our dryer will incur a fee as it is so $$$$ energy wise! You have a fully equipped kitchen to whip up your meals if you require something a little different from what's on offer. Our lounge room is at your disposal. It has a large screen tv, dvds, cds etc. Pat will help you organize WIFI if that is to your liking. Large leafy back garden with trampoline, hammock and water feature. Also, shady, protected outdoor entertaining area. Interaction with GuestsPatrick and I will have a drink/dinner or both with our guests if they are conducive to all/ any or all the above. Depending on our Schedules for that day and the next - we will probably do the following. Pat is the Talker - I'm the Doer! I will be in bed upstairs by 9pm at the latest. Pat is a Night Owl and will be in his Man-Cave (Office upstairs) until the wee hours. I will generally be up around dawn preparing breakfasts, lunches & dinners for the day. Feel free to join me for an early brekkie or you may help yourself to what you would fancy. We love to interact with our guests that's why we chose to open our home this wonderful opportunity. The NeighborhoodOur Neighborhood is surprisingly quiet - we do have older neighbors - so we ask you respect the noise levels. It is a very safe area to walk in both day/night. However, our side of the street has no footpath - so please take care walking in the dark. Guests should have a wander along our beautiful bike/nature trails. You also have an option of borrowing our bikes. However we will not let you take them unless you are prepared to wear a helmet. Mandatory requirement here in Victoria and also a GREAT example to all youngsters. I am active @ the church + young cdn in our area so there is always a youthful, joyous & tranquil presence in our neighborhood. Buses to/from local Shopping Centre run 100 metres away ( 2-3 per hour). Buses into the City of Geelong the same. Coastal buses every hour. Deakin University is a pretty amazing place and what it is doing for our City is pretty astounding. Darren Lyons our colorful Mayor is reinventing our City - you're going to LOVE it! Getting AroundAbsolutely, get on bus straight to Waurn Ponds Railways Station which will get you to City of Melbourne. Get on another bus to go to Geelong City. Another bus will get you down to The Surfcoast - Torquay, Jan Jun etc. Otherwise, they are very welcome to park in long driveway or out on grass in front of property. The Ring Road from Melbourne gets you nearly to our doorstep - we are 5 mins away in leafy surburbia. Other Things to NoteWe are 10-15 mins drive from Beaches. Dependent on roadworks unfortunately now. We have an influx of 60,000 people estimated for this region in the next 5 years so many new housing developments. We are 5 mins walk away from major shopping Centre & Cinema - all the banks are catered for and there is a Medicare Office as well. We are 5 mins drive away from Deakin University. However, you access it along a walking trail which will take you about 15-20mins brisk walking.

      The SpaceThere is a double bedroom available, the bedroom has a large wardrobe. At night you can make the room very dark if you prefer by shutting all the drapes, or leave them open partially - up to you. Guest AccessAccess to the kitchen, garden, patio, bathroom and laundry. Interaction with GuestsI like to get to know a little bit about my guests and have a laugh. I can share some ideas on how to make the most of being here if you wish. The NeighborhoodIt is close to the shops, easy access to the Great Ocean Road (surfing, Twelve Apostles), close to the cinema, wineries, restaurants... Getting AroundBus stop very close to the house. This can take you into town and to the train station. From there it is an hour on the train to Melbourne city. Not too far from Marshall train station, 7 min car drive or about 15 min bike ride. Marshall station also goes straight onto Melbourne. Other Things to NoteThere are plenty of nice bike rides which can be had in and around Geelong. I am happy to let you use one of my road bikes. Great Ocean Road is close by, which can gain access to various natural wonders.

      The SpaceAs the studio is separate from the main house and has direct access via the side path you can come and go as you please. Guest AccessThe entire studio, bathroom and kitchen are for your use only. Interaction with GuestsMy husband, George and I will usually be living in the main house during your stay. If we intend being away during your visit we will let you know ahead of time and leave our contact details with you. We would love to meet you and hear all about your travels if that's what you would like, but know that your stay can be totally private, if you'd rather. If you need any items that we have not provided in your studio, just ring and we'll do our best to accomodate you. Basic breakfast items and snacks will be provided. The NeighborhoodWe are located in the original Highton, a quiet area just three minutes walk to the charming Highton Village, which has many alfresco dining cafes and specialty stores. There is also a supermarket, chemists, hairdressers, liquor store, newsagent, bakeries, etc. Deakin University (Waurn Ponds Campus) is about a five minute drive or bus link south west of our address. Deakin University (Waterfront Campus) is about a fifteen minute drive or bus link north into the city. The local bus line to both university campuses leaves from just around the corner from home. Getting AroundParking at our house is on-street, which is no problem as the area is very quiet. There is a bus stop just around the corner - a two minute walk from home. We will provide a bus timetable if you should require one. From Tullamarine (Melbourne Airport) we are about an hour and ten minutes drive away. There is a Gull Airport bus service which will deliver you to Geelong CBD. We are more than happy to arrange to pick you up from the Gull depot with prior arrangement.

Mount Duneed Estate - a winery with cellar door tastings, informal restaurant and a great venue for music concerts - is a short 5min drive away. The Great Ocean Road, Queenscliff (ferry to Sorrento) and the Bellarine Peninsula are all on our doorstep. Some of the best wineries of the Bellarine Peninsula & Surf Coast are within a 20-30min drive - Jack Rabbit, Terindah Estate, Oakdene, Scotchman's Hill, Brown Magpie, Bellbrae Estate to name a few. Daylesford is just a 1 hour drive cross country - get up early to see kangaroos along the way. With the VLine station just 4mins walk from our house, you don't even need a car to get around easily. Geelong is 15mins by train. Melbourne is just 1 hour away by car or VLine train. Avalon airport is just 25mins by car. Melbourne (Tullamarine) airport is 60mins by car (but you may need to allow more time during peak hours). Both airports are accessible by Gull shuttle bus from Geelong city centre. Buses depart from across the road to Deakin University, Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre, LeisureLink (swimming pool), Reading Cinema and Geelong CBD. Other Things to NoteWe have a gorgeous black cat, Jack, who is friendly but no bother. We just note this in case you have allergies. We have free-range chooks who provide fresh eggs everyday - great for breakfast, just ask! Downstairs is a private entry & bedroom. The bedroom has an electric heater, electric blanket and a woollen blanket if you really feel the cold. The lovely sheets, doona cover and pillow slips are 100% cotton. The doona is made of feather down. Upstairs is the open living area & kitchen with tree top views. A new wall space gas heater warms the entire area. The kitchen includes a brand new stainless steel electric oven. The laundry and bathroom are also upstairs. A front loader washing machine is included, as is an older style dryer, at no additional cost. The shower recess has been replaced in April 2016 and features white subway tiles and a white base. Accommodation includes FREE fibre optic Wi-FI. On arrival, you will find your fridge stocked with fresh milk, eggs, bread and some butter. You can catch the train to Geelong centre in 15mins, and Melbourne in just over 1hr. Torquay is 15mins drive as well as the nearest beach. You can catch the bus to Deakin University in 5mins, or walk in about 30mins. Shopping centre is about a 15-20min walk, or you could catch the bus.
