The SpaceFor vacation fun on the Finger Lakes, it's great to have options, and the Cabins on the Spur are perfectly situated. Tucked away on a private road, The Spur is a picturesque property with amazing sunsets and moonlight. I have a home on the property and am very familiar with the local attractions and activities. Over 25 wineries, breweries, distilleries and unique restaurants with locally grown organic produce are all located within ten - 15 miles. Many of them offer live music at night and scenic views of the lake and vineyards. Other daytime activities include hiking on easy and challenging trails up a gorge to view breathtaking stops at waterfalls. A public golf course is also nearby. There are three cozy cabins and each cabin is equipped with private bath with shower, queen bed, air conditioner, ceiling fan, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot and coffee, linens, towels, hair drier and wifi. Guest AccessThe Spur is quiet and peaceful. Its location accesses lakeside roads for walks or runs by the vineyards. Bring your bicycle to tour the rural roads with Amish farms, small towns and ice cream stands to rest and refresh. At the Spur, guests are welcome to enjoy the lake front and dock accessible by a staircase (see photo). There are four kayaks and two paddleboards available for guest use. Your lakeside fun can continue into evening with a camp fire and s'mores. Another campfire gathering area is located just outside the cabin area. Full moon gazing is a favorite past time here. An Adirondack style gazebo (see photo) is located on the lake at the top of the stairs and guests are welcome to enjoy sitting inside on a sofa or at a table. Interaction with GuestsHaving grown up on the East side of Seneca Lake, I returned to the area and searched to find the perfect location which I found at the Spur. I love the area and am always happy to help others enjoy it as much as I do. I also respect space and quiet time of others. The NeighborhoodThe Spur is located about a mile from Lodi State Park. While The Spur is on a dead end road, it accesses a small lake road that will bring you to the park. Other Things to NoteTwo night minimum stays. 24 hour notice for reservations. The Spur is open from Mid May to Mid November I encourage you to review photos for access to beach. If you have limited mobility and/or trouble with stairs, please consider the property layout and contact me with questions.

Facing east, the front yard stays sunny through the late afternoon, but you can also sit in the shade of our many mature trees (a large willow, maples, firs, birches, a redbud and others). From noon onward the cottage is cooled by the shade of the woods and cliffs, and all day by the steady breeze off the lake. •Bed linens, blankets, towels, washcloths, toilet paper, paper towels, tissues, napkins, sponges, kitchen towels, dishwashing liquid are provided. •The cottage has one bathroom downstairs with a shower. •Wireless internet connection •Long wooden swing on a tree, croquet and other recreational equipment •A large picnic table seating 8, a patio dining table and chairs seating 6 with umbrella, and several lounge chairs •Gas barbeque grill with fuel, and grill for cooking over the fire circle •Two kayaks and a canoe with life preservers in all sizes •We request that guests separate recyclables (paper, cans, and bottles). Although this statement may be slightly biased, the Finger Lakes is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places in the world to visit. The contrast of the lakes against the green of the trees in the summer is gorgeous, and the foliage in the autumn is spectacular. The summers are warm enough to enjoy the lakes, and the winters are cold enough to enjoy winter sports like skiing, skating and snowboarding. Due to the natural beauty and area attractions, the Finger Lakes are a popular tourist spot; however, it is not a crowded, bustling tourist destination, which allows tourists to enjoy the area at a slightly slower pace. Much of the area tourism is fueled by the lakes, but the area is also famous for its production of wine. With several internationally-recognized wine producers in the area, the Finger Lakes is a popular destination for wine connoisseurs. In addition, the Watkins Glen International Speedway attracts a large volume of visitors during the summer race season. The area also boasts several beautiful natural exhibits, including the Watkins Glen State Park and Tremaine State Park. In addition, the Windmill Farm and Craft market attracts many area visitors with its selection of area goods and souvenirs. Getting AroundPersonal vehicles are definitely a must. The SpaceOur cozy cottage is right in the heart of wine country and overlooks Seneca Lake from the east side, so the sunsets are amazing and filled with spectacular colors. Set among summer cottages and homes in a rustic/country-style neighborhood, our property has 45 feet of lake frontage with a dock. Depending on the weather and day of the week, the atmosphere on this uncongested lake ranges from calm and peaceful to joyful and fun. Our newly renovated cottage features a luxurious bathroom with a whirlpool tub, an open floor plan between the kitchen and living room, and a deck with a comfortable patio set and gas grill. There are two sliding glass doors that lead from the living room to the deck, which allow for nice lake views through the surrounding trees. Four adults or three adults and two children can sleep comfortably in this one bedroom cottage with a queen-size bed, a twin-size bed, and a full-size pullout couch. Further Description The lakefront has a shaded area with a bonfire ring and picnic table, as well as a sunny dock. You can borrow the owner's 2 kayaks, peddle boat, and row boat, and use life preservers and extra chairs that are kept in the boat shed. There's something for everyone, including swimming, boating, kayaking, floating, long walks along a dirt road through vineyards, fishing, and romantic evenings watching the sunset and drinking local wine. Guest AccessDescription of Amenities: - luxurious bathroom with whirlpool tub - fully stocked kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, and cooking/eating utensils - satellite TV in living room - high speed internet - air conditioning - clean linens provided - clothes washer and dryer - 45 feet of lake frontage - 2 kayaks, 1 peddle boat, 1 row boat - parking for two vehicles - queen-size bed in bedroom, twin-size bed in main room, and full-size pullout couch in living room - deck facing the lake with a comfortable patio set and gas grill - the lakefront has a shaded area with a bonfire ring and picnic table, as well as a sunny dock. You can borrow the owner's kayak or row boat, or use the floats/tubes, life preservers, and extra chairs that are kept in the boat shed - access to the lake frontage from the yard is by way of a sturdy staircase or by a short road that goes around the neighborhood (about 1/4 mile to our frontage). The staircase has about 75 steps. The run for the steps is 11 inches, which is nice, and there are three decks with benches, in case anyone needs to rest or wants to see the view. It's also very handy to be able to drive down if you're carrying coolers, towels, etc., or are taking some small kids down all at once. The road is for limited use, especially on busy weekends, but it is there when you need it. Interaction with GuestsAt first, I usually interact with guests mostly via email, as they're deciding whether to book our lake house, and when they have a lot of questions or want to book it. Then, at least about a week before their arrival date, I email them with directions to the house and some pre-arrival information such as how to get into the house when they arrive, what to bring, etc. My husband and I also live in the same neighborhood as the house, so it's very convenient for us to drop by to help out if something is needed. Once or twice a day, guests might also see me walking our dog, Seneca, along the gravel road that leads down to the house, and they usually recognize me or our dog and stop to say hello. I really enjoy meeting our guests, and Seneca loves it even more. We usually like to let people have privacy when they're enjoying time with their family and/or friends at the house or on the lake frontage, unless they want to talk to us. We leave that up to our guests. The NeighborhoodOur lake house is located in a small neighborhood, with about 15 other properties. Most of the other cottages are seasonal, and so their owners come about every other weekend during the summer. So, it's often very quiet and peaceful in the Spring, Fall, and Winter, as well as in the middle of the week during the Summer. On weekends it's more lively with a lot of activity though. Seneca Lake is the widest and largest of the Finger Lakes, and so it tends to have more sailboats (as opposed to motor boats and jet skis) than are on the other smaller, more congested finger lakes, making the atmosphere a little more quiet and peaceful. Other Things to NoteAttractions and Activities: - wine tasting - antiquing - boating - cycling - fishing - hiking - hunting - mountain biking - restaurants - sailing - shopping - swimming - water skiing The surrounding area is incredibly dense with wineries overlooking the lake. You can have a great time touring the area and tasting wines. THERE ARE MORE THAN 10 WINERIES AND A BREWERY WITHIN A 10 MINUTE DRIVE, AND ONE WINERY WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE. The property is 15 minutes from Watkins Glen, home of the Watkins Glen International Race Track and the Watkins Glen Gorge. At the Glen Harbor Marina, take a ride on Captain Bill's Sightseeing Boat, the Seneca Legacy Dinnercruise Boat, or the Malibar/True Love Sailboat. Our cottage is also surrounded by the Finger Lakes National Forest, with hiking trails. You-pick fruit orchards and honor-system fruit and vegetable stands are available frequently during the summer and fall. Skyland Farm, a fine-craft gallery with items from 500+ artists and a feeding farm, is a must-see. The cuisine in the area is delicious with dining atmospheres ranging from casual to elegant. Many of the restaurants offer local, farm-fresh foods. Two miles across the lake, the Rainbow Cove Restaurant has slips for boats. Here are some of the local events: - Finger Lakes Wine Festival, July - Nascar races at Watkins Glen International Racetrack, Watkins Glen, NY - Lodi Bluegrass Festival, October, Lodi, NY For those willing to drive a little farther, other attractions include the Museum of the Earth, which is 35 minutes away, and Ithaca, NY (a 50 minute drive), with many musical venues and a wide variety of international cuisine. The Corning Museum of Glass as well as the Rockwell Museum are also 50 minutes away in Corning, NY. Some of the festivals and events held in the area include the following. - Blue Heron Music Festival, July, Findley Lake, NY - Grassroots Music Festival, July, Trumansburg, NY - Sterling Renaissance Festival, part of July and August, Sterling, NY - Festival of the Arts, July, Corning, NY - Grape Festival, September, Naples, NY - Cohocton Fall Festival, October, Cohocton, NY - Annual Apple Festival & Craft Show, October, Schodack, NY

RESERVATIONS ARE BY THE WEEK ONLY. NEW WiFi This Year. Old-fashioned summer on the lake, on private point right on the Seneca Wine Trail. Original fifties cottage with seventies log expansion - and all the modern conveniences. Safe exploration of woods, streams, and lakeshore for kids and dogs. Almost a mile from the nearest public road. You can walk up the hill for the free Friday bands on the brewery deck at our neighbor Wagner Vineyards Tucked into the edge of a 15 acre grove of trees, streams and waterfalls, set back from Seneca Lake. You might wish to walk up through the vineyards to two wineries and a brewery to bring back something for the evening to drink on the dock, while watching the setting sun. Stocked with wineglasses, information on Finger Lakes Wine, and personal touring and restaurant recommendations. The kid's room has a stocked toybox. Put the kids to sleep and retreat to the lofted high-beamed log master bedroom with moon windows and private bath. Second bedroom with a double bed, and one single room with a standard bed and a built-in bed alcove for a child. There are two bathrooms, shelves of books, and a selection of the best books (in my opinion) about the local area. Linens and most other details required to move in are supplied. The kitchen is fully stocked down to the olive oil. Pick some Seneca Lake fruit (not like what you get in grocery store) and make a pie. A walk through a grove and down a stairway takes you down to the lake and the dock, set among other lake cottages. There is a place to tie your boat during the day (launching and overnight mooring is at Lodi Point - three miles by water) and safe places for children to swim, including the wading-pool stream in which generations of lake dwellers have splashed. Seneca Lake is notable for fishing: the world’s largest lake trout are routinely taken here. This is a rustic home, built of local materials It is not a condo. Kids can leave wet swimming suits on the floor and it’s not going to hurt anything. Grill in the Weber and eat out on the picnic table. The cottage is also a destination for romantic retreats - we have hosted more than a few couples getting married at Wagner Vineyards. Write for complete photos. Ride a BMW, and I'll take you on a tour of the Finger Lakes, which my friend Drew from flat Florida deems a 'Motorcycle Amusement Park.' OK, he rides a Bonneville. Whatever bike (or bicycle) you ride, I can map you or show you the great bike roads. Guest Comments:: It was fun to be in the woods but also have easy access to the lake. It was amazingly quiet all week long and swimming was great. Our day trips to Watkins Glen State Park, Taughannock and Buttermilk Falls, and Skaneateles were quite memorable. We had a great visit. The kids really enjoyed the water and the creek & everything about the house. The house was gorgeous! See more reviews...
