We also have Mountain bikes for customers use for a returnable deposit. We have a large lounge area to veiw the Jade Factory and fully equipped kitchen and laundry facilities.       The SpaceMy cottage is over a 100 years old. It was originally a miners cottage and has seen many renovations and alterations over the years. A cottage is a small house. My one is decorated in the style of a 'Kiwi Bach' a typical New Zealand Holiday home. It's perfect base to explore the West Coast. Please keep reading for a full description of the cottage and it's amenities. Sit on the deck in the morning sun and stroll on the beach at sunset! Hear the sound of the ocean as you sleep well in a comfortable bed. There is a King size bed in the main bedroom and two single beds in the 2nd bedroom. There is also a foldout couch in the living area. Cook for yourself or dine out at one of our many excellent local restaurants. Alternatively, if the mood takes you, go and catch the latest movie at Hokitika's Regent Theatre. After dark, don't forget to take a quick walk around the corner from the Cottage to check out the Glow Worm Dell. Our new West Coast Tree Walk and The Wilderness bike trail are must dos. You can immerse yourself in local history with a historic walk or a tour of the Hokitika Museum. The cottage kitchen is well equipped, so all you need to do is bring your own food!       The SpaceAbsolute Riverside Fantastic Views Private Deck Our house is new with a top story that can be all yours! Absolute Riverside, Fantastic views. Quiet and peaceful. OK, you do have to come in our front door but once upstairs you are on your own! All new with modern furnishings, television and internet. Roomy bedroom, bathroom and lounge with kitchenette. Even a wonderful sunny deck to sit out on and watch the river drift by, or for the more energetic, try fishing for Trout in the river which is easily accessed from our property. We are close to the new Treetop Walkway at Lake Mahinapua. Lake Kaniere, the Hokitika Gorge and many lovely bush walks are a short drive away. It is Only 7 kilometres drive to Hokitika with it’s crafts, beach and cafés. If you want somewhere closer to eat, the well known "Woodstock" pub is within walking distance and has really great meals and often live music. There is also a great glowworm dell nearby to visit. Stay a few days and relax. The Glaciers, Punakaiki, and Shantytown are all just a day trip from Hokitika. Your hosts, Margaret and Alan, have traveled extensively in New Zealand and overseas. We are keen outdoor enthusiasts and having worked in the tourist industry for many years are able to help you plan your days. While our house is not suitable for young children, over 6 are welcome. The photos show the view of the Tasman Sea and Whitebait Creek from your own seating area at the end of the stone pathway under the trees. Sunsets, beach fires, relaxing, and only a few kms into Hokitika, where there is all you need: lots of cafes, banks, greenstone shops, and a large supermarket Day trips to the lakes, famous Hokitika Gorge, rivers, new Tree Top walkway (only one in NZ) Glaciers, Punakaiki Pancake Rocks, - they are all accessible from this central West Coast location. Please let us know if you have any questions. Guest AccessThe laundry is in a separate building and shared with Penguins Retreat guests and Oceanside guests. Interaction with GuestsWe do not live on the property so there is no interaction with guests unless we are there servicing the other accommodation, We live in a property close by so can be contacted if necessary. Getting AroundThere is no public transport closeby so you will need to be travelling by car. The "pub" is situated on the banks of the Hokitika River with uninterrupted views across the valley. On a clear day, the southern Alps look spectacular and you may even be able to see Mt. Cook. The finish of Stage 3 of the West Coast Wilderness Cycle trail is the Hokitika Bridge which can be seen from the pub's front door! The location is quiet whilst the township is only a few minutes walk away - the best of both worlds! Value for Money Bar Meals are available in the evenings and we also reputably have the coldest beer in town. There are 3 twin rooms, 2 doubles and 2 family rooms consisting of 1 queen and 2 single beds in each. All rooms have fresh linen and white fluffy towels, tea and coffee, TV and guest soaps. "Clean, comfy and cosy" rooms where you will feel like being at home. The bathroom facilities are shared however are only a few steps down the hallway. The large back lawn is private and secure - perfect for motorbikes or cycles. Car parking is also free and secure. Guest AccessA communal jug, toaster, fridge and microwave are located at the end of the accommodation hallway. Free WiFi is available as is the use of the washing machine and drier for a small fee. Interaction with GuestsJohn and Deb live on site and so are usually always there to assist you. The pub opens 2pm Monday to Friday - Midday Saturday and Sunday. On a fine day views of Mount Aorangi, (Mount Cook) are possible. The glow worm dell is popular to visit, right on the edge town and free! Hokitika boasts a fine selection art galleries, jade carving, gold shop, glass-blowing, stunning west coast photography and much more. Getting AroundWe are a 5 minute drive just north of Hokitika and the airport, in the countryside. For people arriving in Hokitika by plane, there is a taxi service available from town and the airport and rental cars from the airport. Other Things to NoteCheck out time is 10am. Centrally located on the West Coast to enjoy many attractions the Coast has to offer: - 3 hours drive through the stunning Arrthurs Pass from Christchruch or ride the scenic Tranz Alpine train. - Just 3 kms from Hokitika township - plenty of cafes and jade shops, watch the glass blowing and greenstone carvers. - 15 minutes drive to the only tree top walkway in New Zealand - 20 minutes drive to the beautiful Lake Kaniere and another 15 miniutes to the magnificent Hokitika Gorge - 2 hours from the Franz Josef Galcier - 1.5 hours to Punakaiki Pancake Rocks. If not available for you, try Oceanside or Whitebait Cottage which is on the same property and listed on this site.           The SpaceAbsolute beachfront semi-detached studio unit has beach views from every room. It is only 3 kms from Hokitika township and in a central position for day trips to Punakaiki Pancake Rocks, Lakes, Hokitika Gorge, Tree Top Walkway, Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers. Hokitika is the jade capital of NZ so there are jade shops along with nice cafes in town. It sleeps three in a queen bed and a single bed. Ideal for couples as the bed/lounge is in one. There is an outdoor bath, lots of firewood on the beach to make an outdoor fire, abundant birdlife, including penguins that nest right by your outdoor seating area. Interaction with GuestsAs we do not live on the same property, we do not interact with guests unless they are there when we are servicing other accommodation, however we live close by so are available by phone.
