    I have been coming to Holden Beach North Carolina since I was 5 years old. My parents rented a little cottage at the West End of the island for two weeks in the summer every year until I was about 13. The home they rented came on the market and they decided to purchase their first beach property. To this day, they still enjoy every moment at that beach home that has collected so many family memories over the years. In 2004, Chesapeake (this cottage) came on the market and it had always been one of my fathers favorite homes. A weathered wooden gray beach house with tons of character yet tons of space for family and friends. When he went inside and saw the knotty pine ceilings that had weathered over the years and the views from the great room, he knew it was a perfect match for a second beach home on the island we all love so much. I being the eldest daughter (and the one with kids!) have spent the most time in the cottage with my husband and two boys. I have also had many girls weekends in the cottage. The house is built on stilts so the first livable floor is really the second floor! The underneath of the house is perfect for covered for parking your cars. There is also an enclosed outside shower. The first livable floor has two bedrooms with private bathrooms Each bedroom has a twin and a double bed in them. There is also a laundry room on this floor. The kitchen/dining/den combo is on this floor as well. Full view of the ocean from this room! The upstairs consists of two master bedrooms. The first with a private bathroom with a shower (no bathtub) and a King size bed. Access to the covered upstairs porch. The second master has a King size bed and access to the covered porch, but shares a bathroom with another bedroom. There is another bedroom upstairs with a queen size bed and access to the covered porch. There is a wonderful second den upstairs with a television/dvd/vcr player and a futon.     The SpaceIn Prime Summer we rent by the week only between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Will consider 3 night rentals at other times. Owner is a licensed real estate broker in NC, however this is our personal property and 2nd home. Bed arrangement: King, queen, 4 twins (2 sets of bunk beds). Less than a minute walk to the beach (4th row) with close access. Located on a quiet and safe street one back and parallel to the main Ocean Blvd with no houses behind (open space to IntraCoastal Waterway). Perfect to bike or run, very safe for kids. 4 decks total - 2 facing ocean, 2 facing back yard/waterway. Backyard oasis with 3 palm trees and space to grill (charcoal), picnic table. Hang the hammock in the breezeway and relax out of the sun. Plenty of parking available. We accept personal check or PayPal. **Owner prefers contact with guest prior to booking. We are not set up to offer a 1 or 2 night stay unfortunately. Our side of the duplex is larger than most single family homes nearby and has a large downstairs great room living area and kitchen and 1/2 bath. All 3 bedrooms are located upstairs way from the from the living area where there are 2 full bathrooms (one main + master bath). Fishing pier with restaurant and a convenience store close by are within a nice walk down the beach or a very quick car ride West. In the other direction towards island bridge there 3 restaurant/bars on the island easy to reach by bike, a good walk or quick car ride. There are 6 or 7 more restaurants plus a Food Lion between 1-2 miles away across the bridge on the mainland. We do not bother our guests but will check in to be sure you have arrived and be sure to be available as quickly as possible if needed Holden Beach is still a pristine, unspoiled, clean and still uncrowded beach. Building height restrictions have kept away the high rises and condos which cause crowding comparatively at nearby beaches. Holden remains mostly single family homes and cottages. This has contributed to a truly non-commercial, unpretentious and still relatively undiscovered family beach. There are great opportunities to explore the outdoors including sea turtle hatches in the Fall or dolphins jumping across the water on the horizon. Whether simply enjoying the beach, surfing or paddle boarding, or boating or fishing there is something for everyone. This is our 2nd home and only rental property and you are dealing directly with the owner. Guest AccessYou have full use of our side of the duplex and you will be surprised feel like you are in a single family home...there is great space and parking is not an issue. The yard in the back is very private and is great for grilling or taking a nap in the hammock in the breezeway in the shade (always a nice breeze even on hot days) Interaction with GuestsWe do not bother our guest but are available as quickly as possible if needed The NeighborhoodHolden Beach is still relatively undiscovered and therefore uncrowded compared with nearby beaches within a half hour. Building height restrictions have discouraged high rises and condos so most rentals are single family homes with makes for a much more laid back feel and kept the beach pristine and un-commercialized. Holden beach is truly a family beach but with enough great restaurants to keep everyone happy. Getting AroundAmple parking is available Other Things to NoteWe have fast wifi and modern streaming entertainment choices via ROKU TV. 50" flatscreen smart TV in main living area with networked Kenwood AV receiver and Klipsch tower speakers provide excellent sound for streaming audio and video (Pandora, Spotify, Netflix, etc). Master bdr has 43" flatscreen and the other 2 bdrs also have flatscreen TV's.

    The SpaceThe amenities are perfect for reconnecting with society, although we encourage reconnecting with the friends and family! You will have everything you will need plus more to successfully enjoy your stay! We're also a premier destination for the area travelers too. We are 30 minutes south of historic Wilmington, NC and only 25 minutes north of the ever-popular Myrtle Beach, SC. Interaction with GuestsGuests are welcome to call/email with any concerns or questions but this is no B&B. You'll have to make your own waffles because we're not on the property at the same time as guests. :-) The NeighborhoodThe property is positioned around several exclusive, gated communities on the island, but don't worry - people here are calm and simple. No snooty attitudes allowed, please. :-) Most of the people you will meet are either retirees or vacationers just like yourself. Getting AroundTravel by bike is acceptable on the island, but don't attempt crossing the bridge in anything other than a car, please. Other Things to NoteThere are a few bike/trike rentals and eateries just on the north side of the island bridge. They accept dollars and smiles. There is also a pier. Great for fishing from! ...bad for diving from, so don't do it. :-) Finally, the event pavilion is located on the north side of the island bridge access. They host a lot of free events there during the warmer months and occasionally in the cooler seasons too! Always check the area events calendar!

                      Sorry about not having reviews. Our resent guests who went through Flipkey have had trouble getting a review posted. Pirate Lover can be found on other sites that do have reviews. It has been a great little vacation spot for about ten years now. We have just added Netflix and a new futon of extra sleeping for the fourth person. We have made it a comfortable and affordable get away.Pirate Lover Is a very clean mobile home that sits in a very nice neighborhood close to the ocean. You have a view of the waterway from the front yard. It is just right for a couple or a family of three or four. No pets are allowed. Holden Beach is known as the family beach. It is free from all the busy night-life of Myrtle Beach. Our vacation place is close to the USS Battleship, NC. Wilmington has lots for a family to enjoy. But if you wish to wander south for the day you can take advantage of the Aquarium, Planetarium and Calabash. Calabash has a great place for fabulous ice cream as well as a large gift shop that you can enjoy for well over half an hour. Myrtle Beach is only a little over half hour away. Burnsville St. is a good place for late night walks, it is paved so that makes it a good place for riding bikes as well. Pirate Lover has not been on the market as a vacation rental for the last two years as someone has been living there but it is back up and running. We do not rent to families of more than three. Absolutely no pets allowed. The drive to the beach is about 4-5 minutes, a little less for grocery shopping and ice cream. This year we plan to simplify and have less extra features. Our tv is very basic and we will not be providing linens and paper products. We do hope you find the house to be as comfortable as we always do-but without the extra frills. Pirate Lover does have a lot to offer though, lower price, peace and quiet, and no high stairs to climb every day when you come in from a day of fun. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking a full meal. But if you are not planning to cook, we do have Dominos close by and lots of other pick up restaurants. Our yard is spacious. We have a few shade trees for your extra comfort. From the kitchen you step out to a nice little porch where you can enjoy sitting every evening. Holden Beach is known as the family beach. Pirate Lover is about a four minute drive to the ocean. The streets there are very safe for walking and bike riding. Holden Beach is central to Wilmington, NC and Myrtle Beach, SC. Closest movie theatre is about 10-15 minutes away in Shallotte, out by Hwy.17. Calabash is about 20 minutes away. Calabash has so many seafood restaurants to choose from- it also has other kinds of foods there, such as great pizza at Tony's Pizza. Holden Beach not only has a nice ocean to enjoy but also the waterway for boaters/fishermen. There's a lot to do in the area.

                        We have a nice well furnished 3 bdrm 2 bath home that is approx 5-10 mins from the Ocean. There is a pond in the backyard that is great for fishing. The backyard is fenced in so that you don't have to worry about the kids. The home was built in 2006, it has 9 ft ceilings, hardwood floors in the living room and master bedroom. There is a covered front porch and a large back porch with the fenced in back yard perfect for grilling. We love vacationing here! It's quiet, private, and close enough to the beach that you can enjoy the best of both worlds, plus with the pond in the back yard you can also do some fresh water fishing. There is a large kitchen that makes it nice to eat in, but there are also a lot of restaurants in the area that we highly recommend (which means that we have eaten there and eat there when we visit). We love staying on the mainland because you miss all of the bridge traffic in peak tourist season; Food Lion is 5 mins away, you don't have to drive all the way up the island and across the bridge, which takes time; and you miss all the tourist traffic. There is plenty of parking to go to the beach. Some public accesses have outside showers to rinse off. ANOTHER great thing about this house is it's convenient to Hwy 17 and about 45 mins from Wilmington or Myrtle Beach!!
