Yarrangobilly Caves offers bushwalking, self-guided and guided cave tours, Discovery tours, and fishing in the clear mountain streams. It’s only a short drive to the Selwyn Snowfields to enjoy a day of skiing the slopes. After a hard day of adventuring, dive into the naturally heated thermal swimming pool. Round it off with a relaxing drink on the verandah, gazing across at scenic views of the limestone bluffs. CAPACITY & ROOM CONFIGURATION Caves House: 20 bedrooms, sleeps up to 38 guests (view the Floor Plan in the Photographs Section) 1901 Section: 9 bedrooms, sleeps up to 14 guests East Wing - Sleeps a maximum of 8 guests in 7 bedrooms: 1 x King, 6 x Single West Wing - Sleeps a maximum of 6 guests in 2 bedrooms: 2 x (Double + Single) 1917 Section: 11 bedrooms, sleeps up to 24 guests Ground Floor (all Ensuite) - 2 x Queen, 1 x King Suite (wheelchair accessible) First Floor - 2 x Queen, 1 x King Suite, 2 x Family Suite (1 x King, 2 x Single), 1 x King No Ensuite Notes: 1. From 1 July 2016, all linen is provided throughout Caves House. 2. All King beds can be split into 2 Singles (or vice versa) on request. 3. The suites each have a sofa bed which can accommodate an additional child at an additional charge. MAXIMUM NUMBER OF GUESTS The rooms must only be occupied by the number of guests specified in the booking. Above maximum occupancy, one additional infant (0-4yrs) is allowed free of charge if bringing your own portacot and linen in the following units only: 1901 East / West Wing and 1917 Family Suite 10&11. Please make a note of this in your Booking Comments. A folding bed or portacot may also be hired for use in Family Suite 10&11. FACILITIES The 1901 East and West Wings are completely self-contained, with a fully equipped kitchen (including stove, microwave and slow cooker), dining room, family/lounge room, bathroom, veranda and outdoor barbecue area. The East Wing has 2 bathrooms with shower and toilet. The West Wing has 1 bathroom with toilet, shower and bath. The 1917 Section has a fully equipped communal kitchen & kitchenette, shared dining room, 2 lounge/family rooms, verandah and outdoor barbeque area. Rooms have an ensuite or shared bathrooms. There are gas log open fires in lounge rooms and heaters in bedrooms. The laundry / drying room has a washing machine and clothes racks for guest use. There is no DVD player, television or stereo at the accommodation. Yarrangobilly Caves House is in a remote location, so it’s a good idea to pick up your supplies and fill the fuel tank before you arrive. LOCATION Yarrangobilly Caves House is located within northern Kosciuszko National Park, 5km down a one-way gravel road off the Snowy Mountains Highway, 88km from Tumut, 114km from Cooma, and 22km from Selwyn Snowfields. In winter, it is advisable for all vehicles to carry snow chains along the Snowy Mountains Highway, and all Yarrangobilly Caves guests driving 2WD vehicles are expected to have chains. Chains can be hired from Cooma, Adaminaby, Jindabyne, Khancoban, Tumbarumba and Talbingo, but not Tumut, and must be returned to the original place of hire. Ensure that you refuel your vehicle on your way here so that you can comfortably explore the northern Kosciuszko region. There is no fuel available at Yarrangobilly; the closest service stations are in Talbingo and Adaminaby. 24 hour fuel is only available in Cooma or Gundagai. Cabramurra also has a 24/7 card-only service. WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBILITY East Wing and West Wing wheelchair accessibility is difficult. The 1917 Section has a wheelchair accessible suite. CHECK IN AND CHECK OUT Check in: 3pm – 5pm Check out: 10am All guests are to check in at the Yarrangobilly Caves Visitors Centre on arrival, where your keys can be collected. Visitor Centre opening hours are 9am to 5pm daily. Late check in can be arranged by contacting Yarrangobilly Caves on . Earlier Check In (or Late Check Out) is only available with prior approval, from Yarrangobilly Caves, and generally only if vacant the night before (or after). Phone bill to be settled on check out at the Visitors Centre. Fees may apply for lost keys. CLEANING The premises are to be left in the condition of initial occupancy. Additional housekeeping fees will be charged if Yarrangobilly Caves House is left in an unsatisfactory condition, and an additional $25 fee will be charged if any used items are not washed, dried and put away. If using both wings ensure all crockery and utensils are returned to the appropriate kitchen. GARBAGE Garbage and recycling bins are provided. PARKING Off-street parking is available. PARK ENTRANCE FEE The park entrance fee to access Yarrangobilly Caves House is $4 per day per vehicle. Purchase your entrance fee at the Visitor Centre upon arrival. Current All Parks annual pass holders, NPWS Exemption card holders (or visitors who have already paid the general park entrance fee) are exempt. NOISE For the benefit of others, noise should be kept to a minimum and should cease by 10pm. PETS Under no circumstances are pets or animals of any kind permitted on or within the property or national park. SMOKING All NSW national parks are now no smoking areas. FIRES No outdoor open fires are permitted. Gas barbecues and outdoor gas heaters are available for use. POWER AND WATER Yarrangobilly Caves uses hydro and diesel power. Water is UV treated on site. COMMUNICATIONS There is no mobile phone reception at Yarrangobilly and limited coverage along the Snowy Mountains Highway. The Caves House phone is available for guest use - all calls made during your stay will be charged at cost and are to be paid at the Yarrangobilly Caves Visitors Centre on check out. OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR GUESTS Clothing The weather is very changeable in the mountains so please ensure that you bring clothing to cater for all extremes of weather, from sunscreen and a hat to jumpers and a raincoat. Caves House can get very chilly in the winter so bring cosy clothes and indoor footwear (e.g. slippers or ugg boots) as well as extra blankets. Don’t forget your hiking boots to explore our walking tracks and your swimming costume so that you can enjoy the thermal pool! Food Please ensure that you bring enough food to cover your stay. Although the kitchen is fully equipped with cooking utensils and a barbeque is available, the nearest grocery stores are at least 40km away (Talbingo, Adaminaby or Cabramurra), with major supermarkets 87km away in Tumut. Entertainment There is no television or stereo so bring some games and books to entertain yourselves in the evenings. A range of games, puzzles and books is also available for purchase at the Visitors Centre. Heating Electric wall heaters in bedrooms and gas log fireplaces in the lounge rooms. NPWS Terms & Conditions for Hard-Roofed Accommodation RESERVATION PERIODS Reservations can be made 12 months prior to the date of your arrival. Telephone and online reservations open at 9am for the same date in 12 months’ time. PROPERTY FEES & CHARGES The property fee will be charged in full at the time of reservation. The total fee charged will include an additional non-refundable booking fee of 2.5%.
