                                    Located on the edge of the Sandy Lane Golf Course on the west coast of Barbados, Vistamar is a lovely 6 bedroom estate set in nearly 2 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens with sea views. There are four bedrooms in the main house, with an additional two in the self-contained cottage; all bedrooms have en suite bathrooms, air conditioned and have ceiling fans. The spacious master bedroom has a safe and french doors that open out directly on to the pool deck. The property is private and fully enclosed with off-road parking. The main house has an open plan entrance and living room (with a large screen TV, DVD and ipod dock) opening out onto the covered outdoor terrace with a dining table for 12, wet bar, BBQ and comfortable lounging areas; this leads on to the large pool deck, where sun loungers surround the pool for relaxing and catching some sun. There is a poolside covered gazebo with table and chairs for intimate dining or for the kids to have lunch. There is also a study/office/media room which has a double sofabed that can be used for additional children. The cottage is located a few steps away from the main house and has it's own private entrance and parking. The main feature of the cottage is the spacious covered terrace area that has a dining table and an outdoor living area; inside, there is a living room with cable TV and a small kitchen. Vistamar is perfect for families, special occasions or weddings as the property offers guests plenty of space to enjoy a truly memorable Caribbean villa vacation. Rental of Vistamar includes staff of a housekeeper/cook, maid/laundress and a personal villa manager along with nightly security. The staff will prepare three meals a day for guests, as well as discussing any dietary requirements; groceries are not included. The villa manager meets guests on arrival at the property and our concierge can organise any activities or excursions, book car rental and answer any questions. Transportation from the airport can also be arranged for an additional fee. Most people rent a car to nip around the island but you could always take taxis or even the bus (which is a fun way to get around but by car is the easiest). The property is safeguarded with a security alarm and electronic gates, we've never experienced any trouble and the island is generally very safe. Both the villa and the town are family friendly if you're bringing the kids, but also perfect for couples and small groups of friends. Kids will love getting up close and personal with the monkeys at Barbados's Wildlife Reserve. Meanwhile, grown ups will enjoy spending a day out at sea on the Cool Runnings sailing cruise. Highly recommended. We also recommend a trip to Oistin's Fish Fry on Friday evenings to spend a night with the locals eating the best fresh fish and soaking up the Caribbean vibe. Also unmissable is a trip over to the rugged east coast with dramatic views of the more untouched part of the island. Try to seek out idyllic beaches; Bottom Bay, Foul Bay (hidden treasures) and Silver Sands when exploring the island. We've been visiting this island since 1988 - it's my parents' property which I'm posting here on airbnb. We've fallen in love with Barbados, the people, and the tropical weather... Just read our reviews. :) This gated villa is on famous Holders Hill, by the polo field, and Captain Kidd's property where the Farmers' Market is held. The beach is downhill; the way back takes about 10 minutes walking. If you fear an uphill walk (a regular and well travelled route by locals), you would do best with a car. The villa has two private bachelor apartments, which are opposite each other and each has its own keyed entry. The villa boasts a private back yard with a Jacuzzi plunge pool, a hammock and is surrounded by Caribbean foliage. The view is toward the sunset and the Caribbean Sea is 1.1 km away. Sounds of tree frogs will lull you to sleep and the neighbourhood roosters will suggest when to get up, to add to the cultural experience. British Airways and Thomas Cook from UK. Canadians should check West Jet, and Americans should check Delta and Jet Blue. Guest AccessGuests in the apartment are free to use a kitchenette and each space has a bar fridge. Getting AroundPublic transit is available every few minutes along the coast, and every 20 minutes or less in the late evening until midnight. Car rental starts at $35USD per day and the island is fun to tour around. Just read our reviews. :) This gated villa is on famous Holders Hill, by the polo field, and Pirate Captain Kidd's property where the Farmers' Market is held. The beach is downhill; the way back takes about 10 minutes walking. If you fear an uphill walk (a regular and well travelled route by locals), you would do best with a car. The villa has two private bachelor apartments, which are opposite each other and each has its own keyed entry. The villa boasts a private back yard with a Jacuzzi plunge pool, a hammock and is surrounded by Caribbean foliage. The view is toward the sunset and the Caribbean Sea is 1.1 km away. Sounds of tree frogs will lull you to sleep and the neighbourhood roosters will suggest when to get up, to add to the cultural experience. British Airways and Thomas Cook from UK. Canadians should check West Jet and AC, and Americans should check Delta and Jet Blue. Guest AccessGuests in the apartment are free to use a kitchenette and each space has a bar fridge. The back yard, hammock and plunge pool welcome you and your frozen cocktails. Wifi is accessible throughout the property; drink, swing and surf the web as the sun kisses and tans your body. Interaction with GuestsGuests are welcome to being quiet, private and romantic in paradise, or may choose to interact, ask questions, join us on outings and share in a traditional local BBQ. You can choose either extreme or anything in between! Barbados is about doing what makes you feel good and we will help in any way we can! The NeighborhoodHolders Hill has a polo field, a farmers market every Sunday, and is very centrally located, yet is not on the main road like the major hotels. Thus, the air is clean and fresh. Holetown has one of the best medical clinics on the island, and grocery stores are in all directions. Getting AroundPublic transit is available every few minutes along the coast, and every 20 minutes or less in the late evening until midnight. Car rental starts at $35USD per day and the island is fun to tour around. Other Things to NoteBarbados is the gem of The Caribbean, where you can tour around safely and interact with locals to get a full island experience. Our guests simply leave just the garden and step onto the shore where they can immediately bathe in the breathtaking Caribbean Sea. They can amble for miles along curving white sands, beside the tranquil waters of Paynes Bay, Sandy Lane Bay, Sunset Crest, past Holetown & beyond. These waters are perfectly suited for dipping, swimming, lounging on floating gear & snorkelling at almost any place along the way. After this, you will begin to understand why the West Coast of Barbados is world-renowned. Mahi-Mahi is a brief stroll from some of the finest restaurants & hotels in the Caribbean. There are also budget eateries close by. Nearby are well-stocked supermarkets, mini-marts and a 24-hour convenience-mart. The charming, coastal town of Holetown lies 3 minutes northward along the West Coast road by vehicle, with banking, shopping, duty-free facilities & restaurants from the affordable to exclusive. For those of you familiar with the West Coast, as we are new to the area, here are some nearby properties that will help you locate us - Tamarind Cove Hotel, Treasure Beach Hotel, Crystal Cove Hotel, Coconut Creek (now Sandy Cove), The Cliff Restaurant, Daphnes Restaurant, Crocodile Den, the petrol station at the bottom of Holders Hill, Bombas (now the Blue Monkey). The Coach House & Sandy Lane are a mile north. We are very near the Paynes Bay Methodist church, overlooking the bay. Water sports abound on this coast and are sufficiently managed to reserve large stretches for tranquil sea bathing. Superb bus service through Paynes Bay directly links us to: Bridgetown (9 mins), the South Coast (15 mins), Holetown (3 mins) & Speightstown (14 mins). (We know how many towels get used). The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is residential, Hotels and Restaurants. In the daytime the Paynes Beach can be very populated. There are the best restaurants on the island- The Cliff, Daphnes and Scarletts- in walking distance. Also local 'fish fries', Backyard Barbeque on the weekends and other good value eats close by. Fish market on the beach for truly fresh fish caught that day; farmers market at Holders on Sundays. Note for a stay between Summer 2016 and Spring 2017: Renovations are made on the St. James Hotel, two properties away. It may occur some construction noise during daytime working hours. Getting AroundMahi-Mahi Villa is only a 5/10 minute stroll from the centre of Holetown where you'll find other beautiful beaches offering all kind of water sports, the West Coast Mall with its well-stocked supermarket along with other shops, pharmacies, banks and restaurants; a 24 hr state of the art Medical Centre; the Chattel Village with its unique shops; duty free shopping is available at the Sunset Crest Mall, a wide choice of world famous bars and restaurants (with prices to suit all budgets); and also the Lime Grove Life Style Centre with its luxury brands, bars, restaurants and air conditioned cinema. Golf is available at Sandy Lane (walking distance) and at Royal Westmoreland (a few minutes drive away). Tennis is also available at Sugar Hill (a few minutes drive away). Car hire is not necessary due to the excellent location of our apartment. There is a very good public bus service where $1USD will take you wherever you want to go on the island, an abundance of taxis are available in Holetown. More About This Location Not to be missed is a trip to Bridgetown the Island capital, the island safari tour, Harrisons cave, the islands natural wonder and the many flower gardens. Also recommended is a sample of the Islands favourite tipples, Banks beer or mount Gay rum, preferably in a local rum shop for added Bajan authenticity. Getting There Nearest airport: Grantley Adams International Airport, 13.67 miles Nearest ferry port: Bridgetown Port, 8.7 miles Car is not necessary Other Things to NoteHowever guests must also expect to meet the cost of any major damage they might accidentally cause although this has not so far been necessary. For security purposes, the property is reserved for occupation only by the 4 or less guests named in your reservation. We know you must be ready to relax and start your vacation, and we want you to make yourself at home right way. We just ask all guests to go through the home and report any dissatisfaction within the first 24 hours to us. Barbados is generally a safe destination with a low crime rate. It is however sensible to secure the property when you are going out and also when you sleep. It is also not advisable to go for walks on any beach late at night. Most crimes that Barbados does have are opportunistic and these simple precautions will help to ensure that you have a trouble free vacation. Laundry: During your stay you may wish to do some laundry, there is a washer provided for your convenience. Toilets: The toilets onsite can handle most things; however, we ask that you do not dispose of sanitary napkins, baby nappies, and large paper towels in the toilet. Sunday mornings walk across the Polo field to the Farmers Market held at Holders House and if you have the energy walk or jog around the tree lined polo field in the morning or evening. Getting AroundCar hire is advisable to see the wonderful island but it is possible to walk down the hill to the west coast road and then bus to most places.
