The SpaceThe Carriage House's 1st floor apartment is comfortable, spacious, private, and loaded with unusual architectural elements, art and antiques.
The apartment easily sleeps 4. One bedroom has a full size bed the other bedroom has two twin beds. The nightly rate is based on 2 people. I can accommodate a 3rd or 4th for an additional $65.00 a night per person. Guest AccessThe gallery, fireplace room, 2 bedrooms, dining area, kitchenette and full bath are completely private.
You can count on having the pool area pretty much to yourself during a summer stay - you might just see me out there working in the garden or taking a quick dip .
There's a gas grill available to you. Interaction with GuestsI will be in the upstairs apartment during guest stays (when I'm not working or otherwise out and about). You'll be able to reach me easily by phone if not in person.
The NeighborhoodThe Carriage House is an easy drive from Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx… Just make your way to 684, then I84 West. We're just a minute or two from I84. Because I'm not situated on a remote country road, you may, at times, be aware of a bit of noise from the road in front of the house. There's lots to do in the area. DIA in Beacon, Cold Spring on the Hudson, Fahnstock State Park, Skiing at Thunder Ridge. But it's also a great place to hang out with a glass of wine, a good book, a fire in the fall or winter, poolside during the summer months… Your home away from home, only [dare I say it] in some ways better. Getting AroundThe Carriage House is approximately 10 minutes from Metro North's SOUTHEAST train station (Not the Brewster station).
There's plenty of parking (see photo).
I've typed up easy directions to nearby delis, pizza parlors, local pharmacy, grocery, liquor store, lake swimming, etc.
You'll find a list of local restaurants on hand. Other Things to NoteThe library is packed with books on arts, crafts, collectibles, history, psychology, and fiction. In addition, there's a complete children's library with all the greats from Mark Twain, Roald Dahl, Dr. Suess, Bill Peet and William Steig…. The list goes on.
The kitchenette is a mere 52" wide, but it's got everything you'll need and then some: microwave, toaster oven, mini fridge, a coffee pot, and a single [best reviewed] countertop burner. All brand new. There are, of course, dishes, glasses, mugs, utensils, etc. It's really well stocked. BUT, please note, it does not include a full size conventional oven or sink. There is a utility sink nearby for washing dishes, filling the coffee pot, or anything else you'd use a kitchen sink for.
Help yourself to the coffee, tea, milk and cereal, cheese and crackers, popcorn, bottled water...
Also, in the apartment, guests will find a first aid kit, a fire extinguisher, smoke detector.
The bathroom cabinet houses a hair dryer, a flat iron for hair, soaps, etc.
