The SpaceWe are renting out our sunny, cozy guest bedroom on the first floor of our Squirrel Hill home. The private bedroom has a standard (or double) size bed which can fit two comfortably, or one luxuriously! Enjoy your own private full bathroom (with a roomy shower) which is attached to the bedroom. The bedroom is located right off the living room, close to the entrance to the home, which makes it easy to walk inside and slip right into your own private space. We want to make our guests feel at home as much as possible: make yourself coffee (with our coffee maker), or make meals with full access to our kitchen and dine in the dining room. We also pride ourselves on our large backyard complete with a garden and covered seating area. When staying with us, you will also have full access to this magical space! We do have a happy, fat friendly cat named Buffalo. She would love to make friends with you in the living room, but she will not have access to your room. We are excited to be sharing our home and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the city, not to mention share a list of all of our favorite Pittsburgh places with you! Guest AccessPrivate bedroom, Private bathroom, shared living room, shared dining room, shared kitchen, backyard, front porch. Interaction with GuestsBen and Joanna live in this home and will be there during your stay to answer any questions/ assist you in any way. The upstairs is their primary living headquarters (their offices, bathroom and bedroom are upstairs). Upstairs of the home is off limits to Air BNB guests. The NeighborhoodOur home is located on the cusp of 2 great neighborhoods: Squirrel Hill and Greenfield. Our house is a 10 min. walk to the heart of Squirrel Hill's cute business district full of local cafes, an independent movie theater, Pittsburgh's famous Pamela's Diner, many tasty Asian restaurants, yoga studios, and clothing boutiques. There is a Giant Eagle Grocery Store less than a block away from our house as well if you would like to cook some meals at our place. One of our favorite bars in Pittsburgh, Hough's, is in Greenfield, a mainly residential neighborhood. Hough's is a five minute drive away and has a HUGE selection of beer! We are also a quick and easy drive or bus ride to the Waterfront shopping district which has a large movie theater, Barnes & Noble Bookstore, and tons of shopping and restaurants. Getting AroundThere are usually parking spots available right in front of our home, but if they are taken there is ALWAYS parking available around the corner on Welfer Street or Murray Avenue. Don't have a car? There are multiple buses headed to downtown, to Oakland (where the Universities are), the stadium/ North Shore and much, much more that can pick you up right next to our home. Other Things to NoteWe take great pride in the time we spend preparing the room and our home for each guest to ensure that it is as clean and inviting as possible. Because of this, we do not allow changes to reservations after your first night staying with us.

A perfect place to watch fireworks! *Bedroom is on street level/walk out basement of our single-family home. *Comfortable queen sized bed *Loveseat in room *Coffee maker, mini fridge and microwave in the family room for you to use. We have soap and a wash cloth, and we ask that you keep the cups clean. *Complimentary WiFi *Flat screen tv/DVD player in family room, and tv/DVD player in bedroom *Private bathroom *Space is in our basement, and to get from the bedroom to the family room and bathroom, you have to go through the garage. There are rugs on the floor to keep your feet warm. We sometimes go into the family room to switch laundry around or for our children to grab toys to bring up to our space. *Private entrance through the garage. While we make many efforts to keep you comfortable, we can't possibility know every need. We're always available by phone to help you if you need anything. Guest AccessGuests have access to street parking (please do not park in our driveway), private bedroom and bathroom and a family room. Our laundry room can be used upon request (we need time to get our clothes out of the machines). We don't go downstairs for guests who only stay one night. For longer stays, we will coordinate a convenient time for you so we may go downstairs and do some laundry and so our children can grab books and toys. The upstairs of our house and basement storage are off limits to guests. Guests are always welcome to check out our balcony with views of downtown Pittsburgh. Interaction with GuestsWe like to be home when you check in to show you around a little bit, and then the rest is up to you. We are pretty busy, so we may not always be able to visit for long, but since guests are staying in our home, we like to take a few minutes to get to know everyone who visits. This is our home first, and sometimes our young children will go down to the family room to grab a toy or game, so you'll likely see them a time or two. The NeighborhoodWe are in a terrific neighborhood! We are on a street that is very secluded for being in the city. It's relatively quiet, with very little traffic. Although we aren't squished in like sardines (like much of Pittsburgh is), we are close to everything! We have a complimentary coffee, tea, and hot chocolate bar with travel cups or glass mugs. We don't include breakfast in the nightly rental price (we ran into trouble trying to cater to different food allergies and preferences), but we do have oatmeal and granola bars available for purchase. We also have a mini-fridge and a microwave for guests to use. Carnegie Mellon University 2 miles University of Pittsburgh 2 miles Duquesne University 4 miles Carnegie Museums of Natural History and Art 2 miles Andy Warhol Museum 6 miles Cathedral of Learning 2 miles Restaurants and shopping at The Waterfront in Homestead 2.7 miles Restaurants in heart of Squirrel Hill 1.2 miles PNC Park 6.4 miles Benedum Center for the Performing Arts 5.5 miles Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens 1.9 miles ...and so much more! There are a couple great little restaurants within a few blocks of us (Hough's, Yesterday's, Staghorn cafe), but most restaurants are best accessed by bus or car. We moved to Pittsburgh in May 2014, so Matt could attend grad school at CMU, but we have done a great deal of sight seeing! It's a beautiful city, and we hope to call it home for many more years! Getting AroundJust down the street from our home, there is access to the following bus routes: 93, 58, 61 C and D are within 1/2 mile walk, too. Yellow Cab: (phone number hidden) Uber: (website hidden) Other Things to NoteYour private entrance is through the garage. The garage serves as a breezeway between the bedroom and the family room and bathroom. You'll be given a keypad access code when you check in. We don't give that code until check in.

The SpaceOur charming, 20s-era home is located in highly walkable Squirrel Hill. The room is outfitted with a full bed that comfortably sleeps 2, a guest closet and several shelves / end tables. We use an array of solar panels, which more than offsets our energy use, and grow a variety of vegetables in our front yard garden, which guests are welcome to share! Guest AccessIn addition to the private bedroom, guests may make use of our kitchen, dining room, living room, bathroom, front and back porches, plus our basement washer and dryer. Our bathroom features a bath/shower and heated flooring for the winter months. We have hi-speed wifi, a Netflix account and one off-street parking space for guest use. Interaction with GuestsWe love meeting new people and sharing our enthusiasm for Pittsburgh! But, we're happy to make your stay as social or private as you'd like. As this is our home, we will be in the house every evening and during the days on some weekends. We can always be reached by phone / email when we're at work during the week or if we're otherwise out and about. The NeighborhoodSquirrel Hill is an excellent place to stay! While our street is quiet and residential, there are dozens of shops and restaurants (including some of Pittsburgh's best pizza and Asian spots) within walking distance. Squirrel Hill has several grocery stores, book stores, bars an independent movie theater and a public library - all a quick walk from our house. Additionally, guests can walk to 2 of Pittsburgh's huge urban parks, which offer hiking/running trails, mountain biking, a public track, a swimming pool and many more amenities. (URL HIDDEN) Getting AroundFour very convenient busses stop a few blocks (or less) from our house. The 61C, 61D and 65 provide quick access to Pittsburgh's Universities, major cultural destinations and Downtown. The 64 takes you to the hip and artsy Lawrenceville area or to The Waterfront mall. For drivers, highway access is less than a mile away! Other Things to NoteWe have a friendly, shorthair, indoor cat who has run of our house, though we do keep her out of the guest room. A space heater and/or window AC are available upon request.
