The SpaceDo you love dolphins? A mile and a half from Dragonfly Ranch you can drive down to swim and snorkel within some world class driving conditions. To top off your dolphin experience The dolphin decor in our room is charming. Many people like the private entrance and private outdoor toilet, sink and shower area, which is screened in with bamboo. On the same level as the Dragonfly Room, separated by a bathroom, the Dolphin Room is contiguous to the living room with a sound-proofed wall and king sized bed. Therefore these rooms can connect for two couples. Sounds from the road, which has very few cars at night, is less in this room than any other space. The SpaceOur most luxurious suite has inspired extraordinary romantic, dream-like experiences. Nestled in a lush jungle setting with ocean views, this suite features a king-size outdoor bed—with memory foam and 1200 thread count sheets, goose down pillows and comforter of course--with a mirrored canopy. The bed and food preparation areas are screened-in under a pavilion roof—like a beautiful bird cage for people. The other half of the suite is an adjoining indoor redwood room (separated by a shoji screen) with a queen-size futon, two-way access bathroom, dressers and entertainment center. While the suite is a perfect secluded hideaway for a couple, some people enjoy sharing this exquisite experience with family or friends. Outside, hidden by tropical vegetation for your privacy, is a shower and a romantic double bathtub sunken in lava. A private round deck overlooks rock walls and gardens, a meadow and beyond to the white water of the bay at the ancient "Place of Refuge." The SpaceYou will fall in love with this spacious and sunny Ohana just minutes from snorkeling and South Kona beaches. Lovingly restored, this cottage features a 180 degree view surrounded by lush tropical flowers and looking out on an unforgettable sunset view. We promise you will love this amazing bedroom with its picture windows looking out on lush tropical flowers and trees--it feels like you are in your own private Swiss Family Robinson but without sacrificing on amenities. The windows look out on acres of tropical flowers and fruits like mangos, papayas and plumeria. The bedroom has a queen bed and separate sitting room that is perfect for curling up and reading about the fascinating history of this ancient part of the Big Island and its historic settlement by Captain Cook. In the distance is Kealakekua Bay, site of James Cook's first encounter with the people of Hawaii and later the place where he met his end. It is said that the bay is protected by the spirits of the alii, or chiefs, that led this proud nation prior to the arrival of the missionaries after Cook's discovery. The bath in this cottage was practically built for royalty--it features a large jetted tub -and marble surround as well as a separate shower and dressing area. The tub peeks into the bedroom and out onto the property through two windows that allow for tons of natural light and a great cross-breeze on tradewind evenings. The kitchenette is outfitted with a refrigerator, convection oven, two-burner hot plate, toaster, coffee maker, blender and microwave as well as a bar for two. The living room has a pullout couch that can provide additional sleeping space as well as a flat panel TV. The entire property features free wifi and additional services such as a dvd player are available upon request. We are a quick five minute drive from the famed "two-step" for the best snorkeling the island has to offer. If you get down there bright and early you may be lucky enough to swim with the pod of dolphins that call these amazing beaches their home. Beach chairs and towels are available with the cottage. The owners are onsite and we are always happy to help you plan or make recommendations so that you can make the most of your stay on the island. We offer free farm tours and provide a seasonal basket of our farm-fresh produce to help make your stay unique and special. We would be honored to have you as our guests and do everything we can to help make your trip to Hawaii the trip of a lifetime! Guest AccessThe cottage overlooks the Macadamia Nut Orchard and guests are free to enjoy the spacious grounds. There is a private outdoor eating area with a gas grill and convenient parking. The shared washer and dryer is located near the shop space. Interaction with GuestsWhile we live onsite we do prefer to give you your space and privacy to enjoy your vacation getaway. We are always happy to answer questions and give you a tour of the farm (with advance notification). The NeighborhoodWe are located in the heart of the Kona coffee belt in historic Captain Cook, just outside of Kailua Kona. Our grounds overlook Pu'uhonua o Honaunau and the famed Two-Step. Centrally located for day trips to Volcanoes National Park, Green Sand Beach and Hilo, we are still close enough to Kona to enjoy the restaurants, shopping and nightlife. Captain Cook and the surrounding neighborhoods will give you a more authentic Hawaiian experience without skimping on luxury and convenience. Getting AroundWhile there is a bus its schedule is limited. We strongly encourage all of our guests rent a vehicle to enjoy all the Big Island has to offer. Other Things to NoteThe Sunset Cottage is a private cottage but it is an Ohana, which is a Hawaiian cottage attached to another house. The two are separated by a breezeway and the cottage has its own parking and private entrance. Recent update-we are currently experiencing a drought that, while it has minimized the threat of dengue fever, has the farm looking a little sunburnt. Thankfully it has only killed grasses and some more fragile plants and the grounds still have plenty of lush areas to enjoy. We are pleased to report that there are no existing cases of dengue and haven't had any in more than six weeks.

We are not always available to talk for a long time as the farm keeps us quite busy as does some travel, but no matter what we always love to meet and greet when we are home. The NeighborhoodOur area is rich in its diversity of beaches, excellent snorkeling, proximity to the national parks as well as a great local grocery store and some good restaurants very near by. Getting AroundThe public transportation is poor here. The bus only loops the island on the main highway once or twice a day, so having a car is pretty essential for exploring and getting to the farm. Hitchhiking is not uncommon, but not ideal for reaching less traveled spots and getting about in a timely fashion, so we don't recommend it as your sole means of transportation. Other Things to NoteWe are an ecologically focused retreat on an island, so please be aware of your impact on the land and water during your stay and your potential to support the local economy versus larger corporate operations whose resources go elsewhere. We always encourage folks to shop local and explore what the authentic side of Hawaii can offer. There are many mom and pop businesses here and alot of farmers markets and fruit stands. Be mindful of the garbage you are producing and on the farm we ask folks to use non toxic, biodegradable personal products as well as composting and recycling.

The SpaceWe remodeled the South end of our home. The TV room, bedroom with king bed, bathroom (shower) and adjoining hallway are all private. The lanai and kitchen area are occasional shared as is the rest of the farm. You are welcome to walk the farm and take advantage of the ripe fruits and amenities. We only host one set of visitors at a time. Guest AccessWe are 700 feet off the county road up a paved driveway. Parking is private and included. Interaction with GuestsWe spend some time with visitors and often do a quick farm tour. We rarely have guests when we not planning to be here. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is very rural with most residences on family farms. There is a National Park and great snorkeling just about two miles away. Sandy beaches are more like five miles away. Getting AroundThere is not convenient public transportation. Most of the big island is really enhanced by a motor vehicle. Other Things to NoteCamp Aloha dogs, cats, frogs, chickens and even wild pigs on some evenings. 1154

The SpaceWe have owned this property for 30+ year and consider it unique. It is situated on 3 rural landscaped acres with a 180 degree ocean view overlooking the City of Refuge National Park. Upon entering the cottage you are in the living room with two floating chairs, a queen hideabed, cable HDMI (2) tv, wifi and a closet. To the right is the full kitchen set up for four, and county water, and dining room overlooking the ocean. Beyond the living room is the bedroom with queen bed, TV, desk, storage with towels, dresser, bookshelves, back door and attached remodelled 3/4 bath (with a private soaking tub right outside). Outside is a BBQ, seating for 4, lanai chairs and a private shed with your own washer/dryer and more storage. But mostly it's all about the views! You are in your own little world with the birds and yet you are within 10 minutes of 3 beach parks, gas, small stores and restaurants, smoothie stands, post office. A local bus goes by but a car is probably necessary. This cottage has privacy, comfort, ideal temperatures (75-85 everyday at 900' elevation) with tradewinds and ceiling fans. You can literally throw your keys down upon arrival and call it home! The owners live about half hour north so you are on your own and yet there is housekeeping and maintenance nearby if you need it.

The SpaceLocated in South Kona, this Kona Paradise home is a wonderful place to come relax, cook a nice meal and watch the sunset on our enclosed covered lanai. Enjoy our very peaceful 2 bd/2ba home. Pebble Beach is just a short drive down the hill where one can swim and snorkel as well as hike the King's Trail along the coast. Hookena Beach is just 5 miles north and is often the location where the dolphins come to play. We are about a 45 minute drive through beautiful coffee farm lands to the town of Kailua-Kona. Depending on length of stay, we also make an effort to furfill the drinking water bottles. The NeighborhoodKona Paradise is a very safe and clean neighborhood. Access to Pebble beach at bottom of hill is one of my favorite beaches. Sometimes it is a bit rough and the current is to strong to swim in but one can always stay at the shore and let the waves roll you around on the pebbles. Very special and fun! Also some nice hiking along the coast line to the left. You are guaranteed to see some wild goats. Getting AroundUnfortunately, the Big Island does not have very public transit. It is a must to have a car for getting around. Other Things to NoteThe closest grocery store is about 20 minutes north in the heart of Captain Cook called Choicemart. Wonderful selection of local fresh food. Every Sunday morning till 2pm, is a wonderful farmers market located just one block north of Choicemart. Also, located about one mile south on the main highway from the top of Kona paradise subdivision is a nice fruit stand situated on left side of road. Nice selection with good prices.

The SpaceOutside, a covered lana'i and outdoor shower (great after a trip to nearby beaches), are bordered by a bamboo grove and banana trees. A pool and hot tub are all steps away, as are mangoes, avocados and papayas. Inside is furnished with rattan furniture, a dreamy queen-sized bed, and plenty of space for relaxing. The kitchen is compact and complete – featuring a dishwasher, microwave, 4-burner gas cook top, and convection/toaster oven. Custom-built bamboo cabinetry ties everything together in unmistakable island style. We loved designing, building and living in our little cottage. It gives us great pleasure to share this love with like-minded guests who are seeking something more authentic than your typical 'condo experience'. FYI: Our prices include the 13.25% excise and occupancy taxes levied by the State and County of Hawai'i (some other AirBnb listings do not include these taxes in the advertised prices). We support the idea of local taxes paying for road maintenance, clean bathrooms, and other costs that the travel industry places on local communities. The taxes collected in our AirBnb fees are remitted to the state on a quarterly basis. Please be aware that Hawai'i is probably more 'rural' than you are used to. There are places on the Island that have no cell phone reception (although it is quite good at our cottage), and Internet connectivity is only 'adequate' (and sometimes awkward). We subscribe to a cable Internet service, and reset the cable router periodically. There is WiFi at the property, but you will most likely need to restart your device/equipment once you have arrived. Guest AccessThe pool and hot tub are shared with our land partner, and her guests. We have snorkeling gear, boogie boards, beach chairs and umbrella that are available for your use. There is a gas grill for your use on the lanai. Interaction with GuestsThere is another house on the property with a full time resident. Kathy (or groundskeeper Ivy) will help answer any questions you might have. Kathy is available by appointment to take you on a swim with the dolphins! You may meet our lovely housekeeper if you arrive in the late afternoon. Otherwise, the house manual on the dining table should cover any information you might require. If not, please send us a text! The NeighborhoodIsland Getaway is located just a 5 minute drive from the beach and Two Step – a great local snorkeling spot. Also Pu'uhonua O Honaunau, (City of Refuge) a 5 minute drive in the same direction. A must see historical site. We are in a safe, rural neighborhood. Just a short walk around the corner is the Painted Church, and it's a 10 minute drive to Kealakekua Bay, a great place to kayak and snorkel. Volcano's National Park is 76 miles further south around the southern tip of the island. Getting AroundIsland Getaway is is about 27 miles (45 minute drive depending upon traffic), south of the Kona International Airport. Although there is a bus that runs once a day around the island, a car is really a must for getting around. Other Things to NoteHawaii Tax ID#: Available upon request
