The second toilet and wash hand basin is situated downstairs. Laundry facilities and use of the kitchen are available for weekly guests. There is usually room for one guest car on the driveway as well as nearby parking on the road. Breakfast is taken in the kitchen/dining room or outside in summer. The rear garden has fruit trees and vegetable beds as well as a large sunny terrace for relaxing during the summer months. Interaction with GuestsIf you're just coming for a one or two nights I can be around to make sure you have everything you need and help with local arrangements or recommendations. Otherwise a longer stay and once you know your way around you can be as sociable as much or as little as you wish to be. Please note I have a dog. He is a young English Springer Spaniel, full of fun and likes to interact with guests. The NeighborhoodMy house is situated in a modern residential estate built about thirty years ago, just off the main road leading up to Odiham's picturesque high street. The village centre is a convenient place to find places to eat and drink, as well as shop for groceries, flowers and gifts. Odiham is situated in a semi-rural landscape with farm land to the south. The nearest large town is Basingstoke, 9 miles away. On Friday mornings there is a street market in Odiham where you can buy fresh bread, cheeses, olives, fruit and vegetables. The local Co-op also sells a good range of fresh produce, groceries and a wide selection of wines, beers and spirits. There are plenty of interesting places to explore nearby and lots of good walking especially along the Basingstoke canal and the surrounding countryside. If you prefer to explore the canal by boat, John Pinkerton and Galleon Marine hire out different kinds of vessels including narrow boats, row boats, canoes and kayaks. Odiham has a very pro-active community with a number of social and cultural events taking place on certain evenings including screening current films, live theatre and opera. It is usually necessary to book in advance. Several private gardens in the area are open to the public at specific times of the year. This arrangement operates under the National Garden Schemes charity. RAF Odiham is home to the Chinook helicopter and pilot training so you will often see and hear these incredible flying machines overhead on various training exercises. There is a 25 metre, rectangular swimming pool on the air base which is open to civilians at certain times. I have a timetable and contact information for my guests. The pool use is free for ex-service personnel or £4 for adults. Getting there by car takes about 10 minutes, alternatively it's a 20 minute walk across the fields. The walk is worth the effort as you get to see a lovely south view from Odiham across the Hampshire downs. In 2015 Odiham took part in the national Magna Carta 800th celebrations. Check out the Internet for future events and dates, type Odiham Magna Carta for the link. Read on if you're interested in the local history and why Odiham features in the 800th Magna Carta celebrations. "King John rode from Odiham to meet baronial leaders at Runnymede on 10th June 1215, agreeing the Articles of Barons that day and Magna Carta five days later. Eleanor, his youngest daughter, came to live here and was one of the key players in events leading to the first Parliament with elected representatives called by her husband Simon de Montfort in 1265. This was the forerunner of today’s House of Commons." Getting AroundThere is an infrequent local bus service during the day operating between Basingstoke and Alton as well as several taxi companies. There are two rail stations (Hook and Winchfield) within a couple of miles for access to Basingstoke, London or Heathrow, Gatwick and Southampton airports. London is about an hour by car or train. Access to the M3 and other major roads is close by. There are major road works on the M3 starting at the M25 junction for most of the way to Junction 5 at Hook (the nearest to Odiham) from now until the end of 2016. The traffic seems to flow fairly well at 50 mph unless you are traveling at peak commuting times. Other Things to NoteI follow airbnb protocols and do not accept third party bookings for insurance (host as well as guest protection) and security reasons. Every booking must have his/her own profile and approved airbnb verification.

The SpaceWe are ideally situated for a Business Let - e.g. an executive who is working locally and its too far to travel home daily. Our pricing reflects this for longer term stays. Guest AccessWe are a private house and we are sure that there will be no problem if you feel like a walk in our garden. There's a nice sitting out area in the sunshine just by the flat's front door - for al fresco eating or just enjoying the view. Interaction with GuestsWe are out and about as any family will be, but we can always help with anything. For instance, I am sure we can always come up with bright ideas on what to do / where to go in the locality. Its traffic-free walking country all around us, with some nice pubs to head for. The NeighborhoodMapledurwell is one of those Hampshire villages that has little if any of the rush and hassle of the busy outside world. There are plenty of walks and delightful views over unspoilt countryside - the best one being from the window of the flat! Getting AroundOwn (or hired) car or taxi is needed. Otherwise I could always lend out my bicycle! Other Things to NoteWe are not on a bus or public transport route, so having one's own (or hired) car is essential. A gentleman in the village runs a long distance taxi service.

Sleeps 2 people and provides, sleeping, dining, kitchen and lounge areas with separate en-suite shower room.
