The SpaceWelcome to Lake Hopatcong, a restful lake community in the gateway to the Skylands, in northwestern New Jersey. My house, affectionately nicknamed "Hippie Haven," is part of our artist community. It is ideal for musicians, writers, or artists wanting to get out of the city and spend some time being creative. Bedrooms are keyed and private, and the common areas are shared. There are many light and bright rooms for drawing. There is also a full sundeck overlooking the lake which is ideal for drawing and painting in summer. Of course, it's also appealing for anyone who wants to eat outside or just take in the beauty of the season! This particular bedroom is a single occupancy space, but I do have an air mattress in case you are traveling with a friend or relative. Two would be the maximum this bedroom could accommodate, but I'd only recommend that for a very short stay, and a $12/night extra person fee would apply. Due to the nature of this listing, please write and tell me about yourself and how you will use the space. REFERENCES AND VERIFICATIONS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS ACCOMMODATION, either from AirB&B or other sources. There is also semi-private apartment listed separately under "Musician's Retreat 1.5 Hours from NYC," which can accommodate a few more people in our downstairs level. Interaction with GuestsThis is an artist community, and expect to have interaction with the other guests. I'm right around the corner and I pop in and out of the house frequently. When I'm traveling, a friend of mine will check you in and give you keys, and you'll be on your own. * DINNER PARTIES - we organize these frequently. You can cook something to share or contribute $18 if you hate cooking. * JAM SESSIONS/MUSIC LESSONS. Inquire for the schedule. We organize these at our new facility, Studio A, which is only a few houses away. * COOKING LESSONS - just pay cost of food! ADD-ONS ARE PAYABLE IN CASH UPON ARRIVAL. The SpaceThis magical getaway, just an hour from New York City, is like putting yourself inside a painting of a lush lake and charming Victorian-era mansion with a huge wraparound porch overlooking the magnificent Lake Hopatcong. The house sits atop a beautiful hilltop with a panoramic view of the sunset and deep blue lake from every window in the house. Picture yourself with your morning coffee on this veranda while the lake shimmers in front of you. Or sunning on the dock below waiting to go tubing, water-ski or swim. The SpaceThis is a new listing in 2016! Our lovely updated and upscale lakeside home offers three levels and is tastefully decorated and furnished. The meticulous landscaping offers many varieties of ornamental shrubs and flowers. We think you will agree that this is one of the best locations on the lake in the deep water Davis Cove amidst the multimillion dollar estate homes. There are three spacious bedrooms upstairs including our large master bedroom with a comfy king size bed, sliders that open to a balcony, and stunning views of the lake even as you lay in bed. Bedroom #2 features charming antique furniture and paintings and a full-size bed. Bedroom #3 has two very comfortable single beds. There is one full bath upstairs and also a newer high capacity washer and dryer (detergent and bleach provided). A covered front porch leads to the main level. The open floor-plan on the main level offers a fully appointed kitchen, with microwave, dishwasher, toaster, two coffee machines (a drip and a Keurig), gas range/oven, wine cooler and higher quality cookware/cutlery/accessories (i.e., Wustoff professional knives, Caphalon cookware, etc.). The main living has a large wood burning fireplace (a limited amount of wood is included), large HDTV Smart TV with Blu-Ray DVD (and a library of movies), Netflix access, all the premium movie channels and premium on demand and a bluetooth sound system that will play music off your smart phone. Complimentary WiFi is available. The main level also features a full bath and a 4th bedroom if you need it with a trundle bed that sleeps 2. The dining table comfortably seats 6-8 with 3 more seats at the kitchen counter. There is a spacious deck off sliders that overlooks the lake with a table/chairs/lounge and a new Weber Genesis gas grill (available for our guests). A walk out game room (professional grade Foosball table, board games) is on the lower level which is also equipped with a small kitchen and a bathroom. A few more steps down and you are on a large 50x20 Ft. deck right on the water which features a sofa, chairs, umbrellas and a guest favorite - a 5 person Thermospa hot tub right on the water that is available year around. The 50ft dock is perfect for fishing or you can tie-up your own boat or jet ski (or rent one from the many marinas on the lake). I can also provide my motorboat as a rental thru Boatbound - its a Sea Ray 180 sport and I offer daily rentals at a very reasonable rate and complementary use of waterskis and a 4 person tube. A staircase leads down into the water for swimming in the largely sand bottomed lake. We can provide flotation devises, swim rafts, water-skis and a 3-4 man towable tube with all the riggings. Bring your own Kayak or you can use our Kayaks - one is a 14 ft. Necky Manitou for the more experienced paddlers and one brand new, lovely fiberglass Hurricane Skimmer 116 which is a sit on top for all levers of paddlers. Paddles provided. And don't forget your fishing poles - Lake Hopatcong is one of prime freshwater fisheries on the East Coast. The property is lovely all four seasons a year. Great for a family vacation or a romantic get-away. I keep the house immaculately clean, all the beds will be made with fresh linens, and there are both beach and bath towels provided. I even provide two bath robes for the Hot Tub. Discounts available for weekly and monthly rentals. Guest AccessGuest have access to the whole house except for three locked storage areas, one on each level. There is parking for 3-4 cars. Our boat may be docked there and its off limits.. unless you rent it. Most of the time, our boat is at our other lake house. There is ample room for a boat or PWC if you bring your own or rent one. Interaction with GuestsBob and Whitney, your hosts, live nearby and are available to assist you to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Bob may stop by a couple times a week to test the hot tub, water the many potted plants and check to see if there is anything you need. We prefer to personally hand-over the keys at check-in and explain the amenities of the house and home safety. And please ask about local restaurants, bars, attractions and shopping before or during your stay. We have 100% 5 star reviews for a reason... we take pride in hosting as we know these are special times for you and your family. The NeighborhoodDeep-water Davis Cove is one of the nicest spots on Lake Hopatcong with 180 degrees lake views. The Lake itself has a long and rich history, discovered by the Lenape Indians 14,000 years ago, this was the chic destination for New York actors and socialites at the turn of the century and the roaring 20s. Today, the Lake is knows as the largest in New Jersey with 43 miles of shoreline and is very popular for fishing, water sports and restaurant-hopping via boat. Our home is on a quiet side street with little traffic and the neighborhood is perfect for walking, running with side roads and hills. There are numerous restaurants in the vicinity and also all around the lake. Getting Around10 minutes from NJ Transit stop in Landing and 15 min from I-80. One hour from NYC and two hours from Philly. Again, there are many restaurants and bars all around the lake and several restaurants and convenience stores within 15 min walk. Other Things to NoteOff-street parking is limited to 3-4 cars and there is no on-street parking. If you are looking to rent a boat, my Sea Ray Sport 180 can be rented by the day through Boatbound... just ask.. its cheaper and more convenient that renting from a marina. Lake tours and dinner cruises are offered on the Miss Lotta. If you do go boating, please let me point out a few spots where there are rocks.

The SpaceThe apartment is packed with everything you will need for your stay. Fridge, microwave, drip coffee maker, pots, pans, dishes, glassware, silverware, large HDTV, cable, desk, mattress, couch, ceiling fans in bedroom and living room, AC in the summer, etc. Mattress is a real Tempur-pedic, not a knock off. It is a firm feel. It is a full size. I always keep a medical grade mattress protector on it so it is in perfect condition. It is cleaned each time with the sheets and comforter unlike what I here about hotels not cleaning the comforter. Keep in mind that this is the downstairs unit of a 2 family home. It is either my family or a tenant during the winter months that will be there. He is quiet but if the sound of someone walking around upstairs will bother you, I wouldn't recommend this property for you. Like many lake houses, there are many steps from the the street to the house and from the house to the lake. Guest AccessYou will have access to the property and grill and patio. There is parking for one car in the gravel driveway across the street. Relax on the lawn or the dock and take in the views. Interaction with GuestsIf you have any questions about the area or need recommendations for restaurants or things to do, please let me know. The NeighborhoodQuiet part of the lake for those who want to relax, have a BBQ and enjoy time with family and friends. If you are looking for a party house, this unfortunately is not the right property because I have neighbors with young kids. There are other houses on other parts of the lake that would be okay with that, though. Other Things to NoteI like to mention again, because I want me guests to be aware of as much as possible so there are no surprises. This is the downstairs apartment of a 2 family house. There are many stairs like many lake houses. Please see photos.

The SpaceWelcome to Lake Hopatcong, a restful lake community in the gateway to the Skylands, in northwestern New Jersey. Our second home, affectionately nicknamed "The Love Shack," is the the place where Andrew and I began our relationship and fell in love. We have moved to a different house, and now The Love Shack is offered as part of our artist community. There is a music rehearsal studio here and it may be in use during your stay by special arrangement (quiet hours are 10 PM to 8 AM). The Shack is an ideal accommodation for musicians, writers, or artists wanting to get away and spend some time being creative. One bedroom has a twin bed and a closet and bureau, and the other has a queen low loft bed with storage underneath for guitars and suitcases. It's light and bright for drawing. There's an antique writing desk in the living room. There is also a deck on the side of the house, ideal for drawing and painting in the warmer seasons. Of course, it's also appealing for anyone who wants to eat outside or take a little sun! We have an air mattress and a sofa in case you are a band and need more sleeping arrangements. We will provide amps and guitars for you if requested, and access to the fully equipped rehearsal studio is by special arrangement between the hours of 8 AM and 10 PM. Due to the nature of this listing, please write and tell us about yourself and how you will use the space. REFERENCES AND VERIFICATIONS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS ACCOMMODATION, either from AirB&B or other sources. Guest AccessA complete upper floor of a house with all the comforts of home. By request, you can borrow guitars, other instruments, and Amos to play with upstairs. The rehearsal studio is booked through a separate entity. Free off-street parking is available. Continental breakfast foods are provided. Please let us know in advance of any food restrictions or taboos. Interaction with GuestsThis is an artist community, and you may interact with us and the the other guests if you wish (see below for details). We're just a few houses away and we pop in and out of the bottom floor of the house frequently (which is the music studio, and it's completely separate). When we're traveling, a friend of ours will check you in and give you keys, and you'll be on your own. * DINNER PARTIES at Hippie Haven - We organize these frequently, just a few houses away. You can cook something to share, or just contribute $18 if you hate cooking. * JAM SESSIONS/MUSIC LESSONS. Inquire for the schedule. We organize these once or twice a week. * COOKING LESSONS - just pay cost of food! ADD-ONS ARE PAYABLE IN CASH UPON ARRIVAL. The NeighborhoodThe Hopatcong State Park is 2 miles away and you can swim and put in a boat there during the summer. There are easy hiking trails through wooded areas. There is also good hiking at Mountain Inlet, a large protected nature preserve with hiking trails, also about 2 miles away. Restaurants, bars and shopping are all within 12 minutes' drive. These places are are within walking distance when the weather is nice: * Pavinci's Italian Restaurant, which is right on the Lake, and has live music on weekends and Karaoke on Wednesdays. * Patrick's Pub serves up Irish fare, is also right on the lake, with live music on weekends. * The Grotto Pizzeria will deliver, but it's right across from Pavinci's on River Styx Road * Twist on Thai - serves Thai-American fusion and is right on the corner of River Styx & Crescent Rds. On Hopatchung Road: * Lucky House Chinese takeout * Dunkin Donuts * 3 in 1 Deli and Convenience Store (ATM here) * The U.S. Post Office * Santander Bank * Modick Park Getting AroundThe New Jersey Transit train station and a bus stop are both 3 miles away in Landing. We will pick you up or drop you off at no charge or you can call a cab. The train station is called the Lake Hopatcong Station. The Lakeland Bus Lines stop is called "Lake Hopatcong/Landing." IMPORTANT: The train does not run all the way to Lake Hopatcong on weekends. If you are coming by public transport, you will need to go to Dover station or take the bus to Landing. We can pick you up on weekends in Dover for $10, or you can take a cab or a local bus from Dover to the house. In spring, summer and fall, some of our guests come with their own bicycles. I have one here that you can borrow. Other Things to NoteWe are a Musicians' and Artists' Community. There are often people playing musical instruments in the studio downstairs until 10 PM and you will definitely hear it. During certain seasons, there is a 1-week booking minimum and a 1-month maximum. We want to share our house with artists and musicians who need the time and space to create and develop projects. However, if you need the place for a different period of time, you can write to us and explain why and we will consider your request. We are NOT a lakefront property. You can gain access to the Lake elsewhere. This house is not dog or child friendly due to the fact that there are a lot of breakable things and art objects in the house. There are also high places and a deck which would not be safe for a small toddler or child. Sorry, we cannot host cats. Please note that the space is not handicapped accessible (see Musicians' Retreat, another of our listings, with a step in shower and no stairs). If you must bring your dog, please indicate the size, breed and training level of your dog and if it gets along with other dogs. You must cage or crate it if you leave it in the house unattended. We have a Guest Dog Cage that is big enough for up to a medium sized dog. We can also provide dog sitting services at Hippie Haven ($15/day tip should be given to our staff for doing so). If no one is available to sit your dog, I know a local person who can.

The SpaceWelcome to Leisure Lake Lodge! Bob and Whitney, 5 Star hosts of the The Lake House on Lake Hopatcong have been searching for the perfect 2nd vacation rental home on the lake and we finally found it! Our search criteria were indeed met with Leisure Lake Lodge: Size (host up to 9 guests comfortably), Location (the lovely Henderson Cove prized by fisherman, wake-boarders, and kayakers), extensive square footage for both indoor and outdoor gatherings, more dock space for boats and parking for up to 5 cars, and all of the updated features to delight even the most discerning guest. Now, more on this wonderful property: With commanding views of Henderson Cove, Raccoon Island and north towards Byram Bay, Leisure Lake Lodge sits majestically with 5 levels of outdoor areas and three indoor levels that overlook the lake. The views and ambiance of this home are spectacular - lake views from the living room, dining room, master suite and the 4th bedroom/recreation room. Leisure Lake Lodge has one of the largest boathouses on the lake and upon it is perched a 400 square foot deck that gives you the sensation that you are floating on the water and an indoor party room off this deck. Up at the main house, everything will seem like its brand new - this house was rebuilt in 2009 and only lived in for three years. It shows beautifully with the finest construction quality, appliances, fantastic kitchen and 'like new' upscale bathrooms. Next, we appointed the house with premium furnishings and accessories a la Americana and Lake House themes. Everything we learned from running our perfectly rated Lake House on Davis Cove was applied to Leisure Lake Lodge. Leisure Lake Lodge has everything your would want to enhance your holiday, whether you are looking for fun on the water in the summer, a special occasion with friends or a romantic getaway ... and its perfect for all seasons of the year. Highlights include a brand new Hot Tub (newly installed in August 2016), in-door Swedish Sauna, massive boathouse with 30' slip, massive lakeview decks off of the house and the boathouse, spacious bedrooms with comfy beds, 65 inch state of the art UHD TV with loads of free movies, three premium bathrooms with on-demand hot water, one with Jacuzzi tub, a high quality Foosball table, regulation ping pong table, dock space to park a number of boats, a high quality kitchen fully appointed to please the picky chef in your party, a brand new Weber Genesis grill, high end kayaks for use of our guests, float rafts, and if you are looking to rent a boat, I have my Sea Ray Sport 180 listed on Boatbound for a very reasonable daily fee or you can pay more and rent boats from the local marinas. Many miles of outstanding hiking trails can be reached within a few minutes walk from the house. Also the lake's newest and very good restaurant and bar is just literally a two minute walk away And what's more, Leisure Lake Lodge is hosted by 100% Five Star "Superheats" Bob and Whitney who also accept guests at The Lake House which is 4 miles away. We would be wiling to rent both houses simultaneously to larger parties. We are located right off Lakeside Ave... just look for the garage and sign for Leisure Lake Lodge and you know you are there. Bob will most likely greet you when you arrive. The first room you will see is the Living Room and Kitchen on the main level. A large comfy Pottery Barn suede sectional sofa set surrounds the large size TV. The kitchen is at the far end of the room and there are views from the lake from every part of the living room, kitchen and dining area. A large stone gas fireplace is a centerpiece of this large living area. A large set of sliders open up to a large 38x14 ft. deck with sliver-proof composite planking. The three burner Weber grill is just steps away from the kitchen making grilling a breeze 4 seasons a year. The kitchen is equipped with a large refrigerator, ice cube maker, dishwasher, two coffee makers, microwave, toaster, triple filtered drinking water and all the cooking accessories you need. The Southeast lake views offer brilliant sunny mornings yet you can escape the heat of the afternoon. There are two large bedrooms on this level and a large premium full bathroom. One 14x11 ft bedroom features a queen size bed and the other 13x12 ft bedroom has two single beds as we find many of our guests prefer this configuration. A side door leads to a pantry foyer and out to a very private patio that features a brand new Hot Tub. The hot tub is available year round (planned to be installed by August, 2016) and there is never a day too cold to enjoy its soothing waters and in this private location. Back in the house, a staircase leads up to the third level where you will find the 330 square ft Master Suite. With breathtaking views from high above the lake, you will enjoy a King Bed with brand new mattress, a huge walk in closet and a oversized bathroom with a large shower and a jacuzzi tub. From the main level, stairs lead down the ground level with large windows that overlook the lake. There you will find the indoor Sauna, a 4th bedroom featuring a twin over full bunk bed and another twin bed. There is also a full bath and a game area. When you walk down the steps from the main level deck or out the door from the ground level, steps take you down to two separate grassy areas and a 50 ft lake frontage. A distinguishing feature of this property is a huge 39x32 Boathouse build over the water at the end of an 80 ft concrete dock. Steps lead up to an incredible 400 square foot deck where you are virtually surrounded by the lake. And off the deck is a 19x12 enclosed game room that features the ping pong table. If you have a boat or jet skis, there is docking on both sides of the boathouse. Large concrete stairs lead right down into the water for swimming and wading. Between the bulkhead and the boathouse the water is not too deep so its a perfect place to let the kids play. We are avid kayakers and we invite our guests to use our premium Wilderness Systems kayaks. You won't find cheap plastic Walmart specials here... a 17 foot Sealution XL will glide thru both flat or wavy water with ease and its effortless to get this craft to 5.5 MPH using my carbon fiber paddle. The other kayak is the 16 foot Freedom for those paddlers who prefer a sit on top configuration... but with a twist.. this kayak is considered the fastest sit on top kayak made. With 43 miles of shoreline to discover, kayaking and boating is incredible on Lake Hopatcong. We will provide paddles and life jackets. We also have rafts and floats if you prefer a more leisurely ride on the water. Please bring your own water shoes and sunscreen! A little about the lake itself: Lake Hopatcong is only an hour from NYC yet it feels like a different world out here once you are immersed in "lake time". The lake has a long and rich history, discovered by the Lenape Indians 14,000 years ago, this was the chic destination for New York actors and socialites at the turn of the century and the roaring 20s. Today, the Lake is is knows as the largest in New Jersey with 43 miles of shoreline and is very popular for fishing, water sports and restaurant-hopping via boat. There are numerous restaurants and bars in the vicinity and also all around the lake featuring lake views and the ability to "boat hop". Your hosts will be delighted to recommend a restaurant, a place to take a hike in the lovely NJ Highlands, or a day trip. In summery, Bob and Whitney offer the newest and we think the best vacation property on Lake Hopatcong and we think you will have a truly memorable getaway at Leisure Lake Lodge! Guest AccessGuests have full use of the house, boathouse deck/game room and pump room (where water sports equipment is located). My boat is off limits unless you rent it (contact me if this is your desire). The garage can be made available in the winter to store ski equipment if needed. Interaction with GuestsBob and Whitney have to guest houses on Lake Hopatcong and are up at the lake a lot. When not at the lake, they live 30 min. away. We prefer to meet our guests when they arrive, give them a nice tour of the house, amenities and safety. We often meet them when they check out as well but only if convenient. For longer stays, Bob may come by to check the hot tub, water plants and mow the lawn. You can always call or text Bob if you need anything or have any questions. We enjoy interacting with our guests. The NeighborhoodAs said before, we were searching for the perfect vacation rental property when we found Leisure Lake Lodge. Everything about this house was done with our guests in mind. As for the location, we love Lake Hopatcong with its 43 miles of shoreline and is great to explore by boat or kayak. You won't find any hotels or B&B's on this lake even though its only an hour from NYC... and you won't find a better rental property on the lake either. As for the surroundings, Leisure Lake Lodge sits at about 1000 elevation in the Appalachians mountain system and right in the middle of the New Jersey Highlands with its abundant wildlife, heavily forested hilly terrain and its long history. We also love that there are many miles of truly excellent hiking trails within a short walk (3-4 min) of the house... and.. of course, you may not be able to leave the lakefront because its so lovely! Finally, a very nice lakeside Steak and Seafood Restaurant and separate Bar and Grill is just a two minute walk away and a General Store will be opening shortly on the same site. Other Things to NoteThe majestic views of the lake come with one implication... there are a lot of stairs at Leisure Lake Lodge and this property may not be suitable for anyone who cannot readily navigate stairs.
