The SpaceSituated in the mountains of North Idaho a short drive from Sandpoint, Lake Pend Orielle, and the recreation areas of Hope, Cabinet Mountians, and the proposed Scotchman Peaks Wilderness. Our one bedroom log cabin is rustic, but clean, warm and comfortable. No big screen tv and cell phone reception is sketchy, but there is wireless internet, a fully equipped kitchen, central heat and nature just outside the door. You will have the house to yourself but I will most likely be nearby on the property. Winter visitors can expect quiet seclusion. The house is centrally heated and it is warm and cozy, (no fireplace). The road is plowed by the county, but 4 wheel drive is advised. Snowmobilers will find access to forest service land outside the door, and groomed trails up Trestle Creek (10 miles away) and across the Clark Fork River 3 miles away. Snowshoeing and Cross Country skiing just outside the door. The resort town of Sandpoint is 25 miles away and Ski Resort Schweitzer Mountain is 8 miles from there. Interaction with GuestsMyself or my groundskeeper strive to be available if you have questions. For the most part we want to respect your privacy. If you want advice on what to do or just to socialize just let us know.

The SpaceWe have a sizable game room with 18 foot ceilings, pool or ping pong table, large windows, and an over-sized slider door facing the lake and Schweitzer Ski Mountain. The doorway gives access to an 8-person hot tub under a covered deck, 10 x 60’ dock and the water’s edge. We also have a permanent boat lift next to the dock for your boat if your boat is not more than 19 feet! Our house is nestled in a quiet residential area, in Hope, Idaho, off a dead-end main access road only a mile and half from Highway 200. (Highway 200 is an Idaho Scenic Byway and the main road from Sandpoint to Hope, Clarkfork and Montana) The house was built in 2002 and has modern elements, woodsy warmth and charm, and can’t help but show my French heritage in furniture and décor. My husband is also an artist, so his paintings decorate our walls. The entry level has a covered porch with a table, 4 chairs and an outdoor propane heater for inclement weather. The front door leads to a vaulted living room, comfortable reclining chairs, cozy couch and a gas fireplace. French doors also open to a large, upper outdoor deck overlooking Pend Oreille Lake, the islands and surrounding mountains. You will be renting a bedroom on the main floor with a queen bed and direct access to the bathroom with a shower/tub. The sleeping loft is situated in the daylight lower level of the house and has a double bed and heavy curtains for privacy. This room is accessed by a sloped 11-step ladder with railing. The house has a large, formal dining room, fully equipped kitchen with a gas stove, gas fireplace, full size refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, and dishwasher. Laundry facilities are in the pantry with a utility sink. We have a gas barbeque on the upper main deck. There are approximately 2700 square feet of interior space at your disposal. Our upstairs level is our master bedroom and bath and will be closed to guests. At the top of those stairs, however, is a computer that has guest access for your use. We have Direct TV, DVD/CD (170 DVDs), and WIFI. We have also stocked the house with basics including detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, Zip Lock bags and aluminum foil, shampoo and conditioner, body wash and soap. As I enjoy cooking a great deal, you will find many cooking utensils and pans and a multitude of spices. Please feel free to use them. Our North Idaho area is well known for the many recreational activities that are available. Besides fishing on the lake or from our dock, there are many streams waiting. Hundreds of trails to hidden waterfalls or mountain lakes are to be found locally. Golf can be played at a championship course, The Idaho Club located on the way to Sandpoint about 8 miles away. Many people enjoy raspberry or blueberry picking at local farms or huckleberry picking in the mountains. Visiting Schweitzer for skiing in the winter or hiking at other times gives an unbelievable, breathtaking panorama of our lake and surroundings. Schweitzer runs their chair lift during summer weekends so hiking down is a great exercise and also a great reason for a picnic. We have two kayaks that you are welcomed to use and in the basement art studio, there are also an Ergometer rowing machine and weights if so inclined and horse-shoe pits at the top of the property. To the left of the house while looking at the lake, there is beachfront easement with steps leading to the water. This is used in the summer by a few back lot owners for lake egress and ingress. This area is for our renters use as well. Since we are situated on Hope Peninsula, an animal preserve, there are many deer that would love to have access to our 1 ½ acre yard, regardless of the time of year. This is where the biggest and most important request comes forward. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT THE ENTRY GATE REMAINS CLOSED AT ALL TIMES! THE LATCH NEEDS TO BE PUT IN PLACE as the variable temperatures shrink the metal and loosen the closure. This guards against a deer pushing its way in (as they have done in the past!) or the wind causing the gate to open. The same closure rules applies to the side gate to the lake near the back door. Please treat the house gently as it is our home. Let us know if anything has broken or needs attention and have a great time and enjoy!

The SpaceImagine a private beach on Idaho's largest lake with spectacular views of water, islands and mountains, where you can sleep in a tipi next to the water and watch the day unfold. Have access to all the amenities of a family-owned beach: a dock, fire pit, barbecue grill, horseshoe pit, boat launch, a table that converts to two benches, hammock and more. We even supply wood for the fire pit and drinking water from the well! Hawkins Point is the farthest point on the Sunnyside Peninsula, named for the fact that it faces south; it's a gateway to the northern end of the lake and the Pack River Delta. The tipi is equipped with cots and fold-up, roll-away beds, electric lamp/table, and even an electric heater in the colder parts of the season, to give guests a wonderful experience camping on the lake with style. Tipis are magical spaces that allow you to sleep under the stars and imagine living in simpler times. The tipi is erected around a round wooden floor. A double hammock, handmade in Mexico, is hung in the shade for guests to enjoy some lazy time lounging near the water on the east side of the boathouse. And maybe best of all, a fabulous outdoor hot tub is available for soaking under the stars overlooking the lake! The hot tub is found behind the host's home and is only a two-minute walk from the beach. Down at the beach, guests are provided with a small fridge, a clean, well-kept porta-potty, and outdoor shower and sink with an on-demand propane hot water heater. The large wooden fence blocks off the beach from Sunnyside Road, adding to the privacy of this special spot. The lake is at your doorstep in this special spot on Lake Pend Oreille! The price includes tax and accommodations for up to four guests max. We cannot accommodate large, multi-family groups. Extra vehicles may be parked off the road outside the gate or at the host's property. Guest AccessGuests have access to the beach, where there's room to park a vehicle and hang out on the dock, lawn and, of course, in the water! The family owns 800 feet of shoreline, which includes a second beach with dock and a sitting area among the trees between the two beaches. Guests are invited to walk trails in the woods on 30 acres of private land that adjoins 60 acres of state-owned forest. Guests are also welcome to use the hot tub behind the host's home, a two-minute walk from the beach. Be prepared to cross Sunnyside Road to reach the hot tub or the state land adjacent to the family-owned property. Interaction with GuestsWe love meeting our guests and having personal interaction. You won't find friendlier hosts or a more unique space in Sandpoint! The NeighborhoodSunnyside is a rural neighborhood on the north shore of Lake Pend Oreille, where there's a mix of farmland and family homes. This is a popular recreation area with Sunnyside Access, Hawkins Point Boat Launch and Oden Wildlife Management Area. Many families have been here for decades, including the family that owns the property at Hawkins Point. People come here to fish, swim, ride bicycles, paddle, go boating and more. Getting AroundSandpoint is home to the only Amtrak depot in Idaho and Sandpoint Airport. The closest public bus transportation is found in town, where the SPOT bus operates in Sandpoint, Dover, Kootenai and Ponderay. The site is about 10 minutes away from Highway 200, and another five minutes to Ponderay or 10 minutes to downtown Sandpoint. Other Things to NoteFollow the host's directions! Do not trust your GPS out here in the country. The tipi is not 100% waterproof or weatherproof. In case of rain, close the smoke flaps and secure the door. If water comes through the hole at the tripod above the smoke flaps and rolls down the inside of the tipi poles, meet the drip with your finger and draw a path for it down the pole. The water will follow the path you drew for it. Be prepared for showers or thunderstorms and keep your belonging or bedding in your vehicle, if necessary, during bad weather. A porta-potty and outdoor shower are on-site at the beach as well as access to lake water at a hydrant. Guests can bring their own potable water or use the camp water container with well water provided by the host. Bring everything you normally would bring for camping, except a tent and cots. The small fridge will keep items cold, but if you need ice for coolers, the hosts can provide ice for a buck a bag. There's a picnic table that converts to two benches and a few camp chairs, but if you want more comfortable seating, please bring your own. If you want to bring dogs, please tell me about them and agree to our rules for dogs. They must be friendly with other dogs and people and be well-behaved. They are not allowed to be left unattended on the beach, and guests must clean up after their dogs on a regular, ongoing basis. Be prepared to add $20 per dog for your reservation, two dogs max. Please dispose of normal household garbage only in the can provided on the beach. Take large, unwanted items with you to dispose of at home.

The SpaceWe feature three special campsites— Nona’s, The Cedars, and Mountain View. This listing is for our Nona's Tent Site. When you stay at Huckleberry Tent and Breakfast, you’ll enjoy a secluded home in the woods with everything you need to make your stay unforgettable. In addition to our snug and comfy canvas walled tent cabins, each camping site includes … • Your own screened camp kitchen with antique functional hand pump for water, a propane stove, ice chest (bring ice) and lots of cookware. • An airy, cozy outhouse complete with candles and plenty of reading material. It’s all natural, completely sanitary, and smells as fresh and clean as all outdoors. • Outdoor shower (yes, you can heat the water) with towels and amenities. • Your own thoughtfully-furnished campsite with fire pit, camp furniture, citronella torches and candles to keep the bugs at bay, and more. If you call ahead, we’ll even light the fire for you. •Bringing an extra guest? No problem. In addition to the queen size bed in the main tent, there is a side tent with 2 cots, foam mattresses, pillows, comforters, and sheets. The 2 cots can also be moved into the main tent if you desire. Just let us know. When we bought our homestead in 1992, Nona lived next door in a tiny cabin. She was an eccentric 70 year old - no car, no running water and only one small solar panel. After 20 years in the woods, she sold us her property and moved to town where life was a little easier. Her cabin is long since gone. But if you look behind your tent, you'll still see the foundation rocks. This tent site is for those who march merrily along to the beat of their very own drum. Guest AccessExperience a private camping experience in the North Idaho wilderness—like a bed and breakfast inside a cozy tent. Our canvas-walled tent cabins feature • A wood-burning stove complete with wood and kindling in cool weather • Screened walls for cross-breezes in warm weather • Wide plank wood floors • Queen-size bed with patchwork quilts. Interaction with GuestsWhen you stay with us, you’ll enjoy a hot homemade breakfast each morning at the homestead. You’ll also get to see real live homesteaders in our native habitat. We built our homestead from scratch beginning in 1992. Beginning with the garage that originally served as our home, you’ll enjoy seeing the house we later built, as well as our garden and the animals that provide for our needs (and yours). Our homestead is powered by the sun—and by a generator when the sun doesn’t shine. We grow most of our food and either make or barter for many of our implements, and generally make do on a lot less money than most people consider necessary. But we’re happy, and we’ll bet that staying with us, you will be too. If you wish, we’ll provide advice on gardening, homesteading, animal raising, off-grid living, and simple living in general. In season, pick some of your lunch or dinner out of the garden. You’ll be surprised at how much better the real stuff tastes The NeighborhoodFolks are attracted to north Idaho’s rich natural beauty, and we think that around here we have more than our fair share of it. Local attractions include ... • Wildlife, including deer, elk, moose, eagles, owls, and numerous smaller birds, fish, and critters. • Scotchman Peak (visible from Mountain View campsite), the highest peak in Bonner County. This is a strenuous climb but definitely worth it! • Clark Fork River delta and Johnson Creek inlet, with dozens of islands and quiet water channels, throngs of birds and an occasional moose, all nestled between the towering Bitterroot mountains on the south and Cabinet mountains on the north. • Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho’s largest and deepest lake, just 20 minutes down the road. • Ross Creek Cedars, up the road about 30 minutes. Some of the largest trees in Montana live here, in a quiet dell that could be a fantasy movie set. • Sandpoint, the county seat and nearest big town, just 45 minutes away. Enjoy downtown shopping, restaurants, watersports, City Beach, and much more. • We’re just 75 minutes from Silverwood, the Northwest’s largest theme park, and an easy half day’s drive from Glacier National Park. Getting AroundLeave all your modern worries behind as you hike down the well maintained trails. Explore our water, hills, and woods. Let nature's song take you back to a simpler time. Visit Huckleberry Tent and Breakfast to reconnect with land, life, and spirit. Other Things to NoteSerenity abounds with no electricity, video games, TV, Internet, or other modern distractions.
