Ravenridge Cottages are located in the scenic Yorkville Highlands at the gateway to Anderson Valley. In addition to exceptional wine-tasting, the area provides visitors with a quintessential country experience. Surrounded by forests, meadows, and wild lands, pockets of agriculture – grapes, olives, sheep, cattle, apples – provide vitality and livelihood to local denizens. The spectacular Mendocino Coast is approximately one hour's drive along Highway 128, passing through the town of Boonville with its restaurants and shops, and Philo, with farm stands and tasting rooms. Outstanding Hendy Woods State Park near Philo has hiking trails through awe-inspiring old-growth redwoods.
Ravenridge is located on a secluded hilltop property surrounded by forest and rangeland. Access to the cottages from Highway 128 is via private road, through the neighboring vineyard. The country location is very near the popular wine growing regions of Alexander Valley (Healdsburg, Geyserville, and Cloverdale), Anderson Valley (Boonville, Philo, and Navarro), and the local appellation of Yorkville Highlands. Yorkville is just a dot on the map with a small market and post office; however many of our Yorkville neighbors live on properties tucked away on the bucolic hills and dales. The locals comprise a surprising mix of pioneer families and more recent urban transplants. Many contribute to the award-winning grape-growing and wine-making culture (and lifestyle) of the region. There's a very lively social calendar in our community, catering to gardeners, environmentalists, nature lovers, foodies, and wine enthusiasts.
Three excellent wine-tasting rooms enhance the neighborhood – Yorkville Cellars, Maple Creek, and Meyer Family Cellars. The town of Boonville, with restaurants, shops, brewery, and wine tasting, is a 30-miunte drive. Numerous wine tasting rooms are dotted along Highway 128 between Boonville and Navarro. Hendy Woods State Park with magnificent old growth redwoods, is just beyond Philo. At the end of the road, 128 intersects with coastal route 1 near the village of Albion. Spectacular beaches, historic lighthouses, restaurants, and the quaint village of Mendocino offer many choices for adventurous day trips.
Ravenridge is a convenient home base for exploring the natural beauty, culinary discoveries, and friendly folks of the area. The cottages offer relaxation and serenity in an exceptional rustic setting. The perfect getaway from urban stress to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, honeymoon, holiday, or a simple revitalizing weekend.
