The house is secluded on 7 acres surrounded by the Francis Marion National Forest. For nature lovers...we frequently see deer, wildlife and birds galore: eagles, hawks, shore birds, hummingbirds along with a large variety of song birds! It's a great central location: approx a 30-45 min. drive south to Mt. Pleasant and Charleston or a scenic drive north to Georgetown, Pawley's Island and Myrtle Beach. The historic shrimping village of McClellanville is a jewel in itself, 5 minutes away. The village has a few small shops, restaurant and a museum near the boat dock on Jeremy Creek. The Cape Romain Wildlife Refuge offers some of the best fishing, shrimping, shelling and wildlife viewing in the country. This is a great location if you want to fish, hunt, shrimp, shell, kayak or nature watch. Kayak tours are available. Within 15-30 min you will find the Buck Hall Recreation area and boat landing, The Santee Coastal Reserve, the Hampton Plantation, Boone Hall Plantation, the Charles Pinkney historic home site, numerous public golf courses, beaches, shopping and restaurants. IF INTERESTED IN UTILIZING BOTH BEDROOMS WE WILL PROVIDE A SPECIAL OFFER. Guest AccessGuests also have access to the Great Room with wood burning fireplace (for those cold winter mornings and nights) bigscreen TV, front porch with rockers and swing overlooking the front pond, back deck and screen porch which overlook the rear pond. Interaction with GuestsWe live in the downstairs within our own privacy areas. The two available bedrooms are both upstairs and private. We are available for information about the area but do not interact unless so desired by the guest. We enjoy having guests in our home on a regular basis. The NeighborhoodThe tree lined oak canopy road to our country home finds homes around us on acreage. We have a near-by neighbor but our home is surrounded on three sides by the Francis Marion National Forest. It's very peaceful and filled with the sites and sounds of nature and an occasional tractor tilling a backyard garden.
Down the road is our local diner with McClellanville just another 5 minutes away. Close by is a Dollar General, a few gas station/convenience stores, one has a Subway sandwich shop. Turn towards the village at the only flashing yellow-light in town for a trip back in time. Old giant oaks line the roads with limbs that grace the sky and filter the light creating that true Southern feel. The village of McClellanville has many quaint small churches and old charming southern style homes. Jeremy Creek was the life blood for McClellanville, and remains active in fishing and shrimping with a small seafood market. McClellanville with it's small town way-of-life takes one back in time to a simpler way, when kids road bikes with dogs following close behind when Moms' simply said "be home by dark." Getting Aroundno public transportation Other Things to NoteKayaking is very popular recreational activity in the area. Information on excursions is readily available. "Nature Adventure Outfitters" has become our company of choice and comes highly recommended by us and our past guests. Learn more about them at their website.
