Take a short walk to the San Gabriel River that flows along the farm. Relax surrounded in rustic beauty with a clear view of the night sky and stars, perfect for stargazing. Pick up pecans if you'd like. Archaeology buffs can hunt the limestone river banks for a variety of fossils or the hillside for Tonkowa and Cherokee Indian arrowheads. Many avid birders have seen a lifer on the farm. Visit our blog for a list of those we have seen. Maybe you'd prefer to have a campfire and weenie roast on the banks of the river? Practice your casting in the San Gabriel or sit on the bank and watch the catfish and bass swim by. Make yourselves at home while you are in our care.
The river rock structure was hand crafted by well-knownTexas landscape artist C. P. Montague and her husband. The original owner used the studio to create and display thousands of the Texas Hill Country landscapes for which she was known. Many of her works were completed while sitting at her easel at the wall of 7' northern exposure windows. Bring your palette and paints, you'll be inspired too! This private, non-smoking accommodation is perfect for the business travel, writing, painting, honeymoon or romantic get-a-ways.
Numerous excellent camping, hiking, fishing and water related activities can be found at Cedar Breaks, Jim Hogg and Russell parks, all located around Lake Georgetown. It's a short drive to Round Rock, Round Rock Premium Outlet Mall, including IKEA, and to Del Webb's Sun City.
Our guests have told us they have really enjoyed the beautiful outdoor dining area at the edge of the bluff. A Weber charcoal grill and fire pit are provided. There are also rockers under the huge live oak trees and you can watch for the deer in the evening, or listen as the owls begin hooting at dusk.
The evening of your arrival, I provide homemade muffins of your choice- Banana (with or without nuts), Blueberry, Chocolate Chip (with or without nuts), or Snickerdoodle, along with fresh fruits, coffee and a variety of hot teas.
If you don't feel like cooking in the fully equipped kitchen or go to a restaurant, have your muffins and coffee outdoors! Guest AccessBeautiful sunsets and views, river, fishing, hiking trails around the farm, getting up close and personal with the farm animals, picking up pecans. Nothing is off limits - feel free to roam about and explore. Enjoy the fishing - several recent guests have caught many 12" - 15" bass and one said there are 100's of blue gills, picnic along the upper river bank at the picnic table, hiking about the property, birding (2/3 of all birds found in Texas are seen in our county), stargazing in our clear TX night skies, looking for arrowheads, or simply relaxing at the end of a day of business activities on the patio and watch the colorful sunsets while having a glass of wine. Interaction with GuestsWe like to meet all of the guests that stay with us at the farm. I normally meet most when taking the basket of warm, freshly made homemade muffins the evening of the arrival. We are available should children want to feed the animals or hold the baby goats and Dan's even been known to give rides on one of the tractors. I love giving tours around the farm to give guests an idea of the lay of the land, river, and where they might like to hike or explore. The NeighborhoodI love the peace and tranquility of the farm. Having the varied terrain - prairie on top, heavily wooded bluff and areas, and the river bottom with the water, marshy area, makes it fun to explore and affords great views from the homes along the upper bluff.

Other Things to NoteWe have a fire pit for your enjoyment during the cooler times of the year. We provide the firewood for you. Please remember to keep the fires smaller in the fire pit.
It is very dark in the country, so remember to leave on your outside lights if you plan to arrive back at the farm after dark.
Wildlife is abundant - keep your eyes open for deer, raccoons, possoms, bobcat, and if you're lucky you might spot a red or gray fox.
The last home on the farm, Indian Bluff, is about 1/2 mile from the county road and through an open gate. If you follow the drive across the front of that home, then through another open gate, and follow the road around a bend in the trail, you will come to the tall bluffs overlooking the San Gabriel River. The Great Snowy Egrets nest nearby and almost always will fly up the river when they are disturbed by visitor. CHILDREN SHOULD NEVER BE ALLOWED TO GO NEAR THE BLUFF UNATTENDED AND ADULTS SHOULD NOT GO NEAR THE EDGE.
