The SpaceA large room is available in an airy, modern house set among bushland out of town. Pristine beaches are a walk away. The room has a queen size double bed and doors that open on to a verandah. There is the possibility of booking a large room with two single beds instead. Both can be available to extend the accommodation to 4 people. Please contact us if this is an option you are interested in. We will assume all bookings are for the room with a queen size bed unless we are told otherwise. The rooms are in an open plan house with guest bathroom. There is a sun room which looks out over the large bushland garden. There is an artists printmaking and painting studio in the grounds with printing presses. Kangaroos and wallabies visit the garden and the sound of birds and the ocean are ever present. There is covered parking and we are classic car friendly and touring motorbike friendly. The owner is a club member in both cases. We welcome pets and have inquisitive chickens roaming the grounds in the afternoon. We have a large undercover area for wet days and a barbeque under cover.. The location is halfway between Sydney and Brisbane, 7 kms south of the nearest town. There is easy access from the Pacific Highway. We can pick up from the local station on the Sydney-Brisbane line if required. The airport is 25 minutes drive away. The area is popular in the tourist season and offers pristine beaches, fishing, water-sports, swimming, surfing, and kite surfing. The nearby pretty town of Bellingen is known for its cafes and restaurants. A short drive into the mountains brings you to Dorrigo. Well known for the spectacular drive along Waterfall Way. This road is loved by bikies and car enthusiasts. There is a rainforest walk at Dorrigo. Train fans will find a large number of old steam locos there to photograph. The host is internationally known artist, printmaker and illustrator and there is original artwork on the walls. Home cooked Japanese meals are available with some notice. On parle français Man spricht Deutsch Se habla español Parlo d'italiano 日本語を話します。 Japanese spoken The NeighborhoodThe house is in a setting where nature dominates. The trees are 30 to 50 meters high and birdsong abounds. Our constant companions are kangaroos, wallabies, kookaburras, colourful parrots and scores of other types of birds. You can hear the surf crash in the distance and the sea breeze keeps the house cool. Vents in the very high ceilings in the main house catch the breeze. The beach is a short walk away. The walk home is uphill all the way and most people drive to the headland and save their walking for the pure sands and waters of the beach itself. Getting AroundThe nearest town is Urunga, 7 kms away. There is a railway station there on the main east coast line from Sydney to Brisbane. Local buses serve towns up and down the highway. The service is country style, so not frequent as you would expect in a city. We do our best to help guests who have arrived without a vehicle.

The SpaceThis cabin sleeps comfortably 2, but up to 4 people - more than one night would be cramped for 4 people. The cabin is basic but comfy and clean and excellent value for money. We don't supply breakfast as we may not be there. The cabin is stocked with tea, coffee and milk and you have a small fridge. It is open plan self contained with own bathroom. There is a very basic kitchen but NO hotplate. You have a microwave and large toaster oven (you can grill and bake a cake etc in this). If you need a hotplate we have an outdoor kitchen down at our house that you are welcome to use. There is a double bed with a single bunk above it. It also has a click clack fold out lounge that will sleep another adult comfortably. Guest AccessYou will have most things you need in the cabin but you are welcome to come down to the house if you need anything. We are on tank water and have not had rain for a while so please be water wise. Interaction with GuestsWe like to socialize so if we are home and it fits we can enjoy a BBQ together. We are happy to share the local secrets with you as there is lots to do around here such as whale and dolphin watching (seasonal), snorkeling, diving, great kayaking up the estuaries, surfing and lots of other water sports, bush walking, heaps of festivals and events. Oh, and the big banana and the "pub with no beer" are up the road. It is fairly sub tropical here so you can swim year round and it is warm for most of the year, but it can get cool between June and August so bring a jumper. The NeighborhoodWe are 5 km's from a small beach town with a pub, a real estate and two cafes. That's it.......but, as we have not a lot here, our beaches are pristine!! The pub has good cheap food and sometimes the locals have a jam up there on a Sunday arvo's. Nambucca Heads is 10 mins south where there is retaurants and shopping centre etc, and the larger Coffs Harbour is about 40 mins North. Getting AroundBest to have your your own transport. Other Things to NoteWe are close to Bellingen, Urunga, Nambucca Heads, Bowraville, Hungry Head, Coffs Harbour and not too far from Dorrigo so there is plenty to do.

The SpaceThe old Queenslander home has one bedroom available. One room stays are welcomed at a special price of $50 per night. Long stays take precedence over shorter stays. The property is called 'Guunuwa' which translates as "Be Alive" in the local Gumbaynggirr language. 'Guunuwa' has the best of both worlds, 3 min. to the pristine beaches of Valla Beach village, and with a bush setting. Guest AccessFrench doors open out to the wrap around verandahs. The dry composting toilet and shower/bath is located on the east side of the house. The kitchen can be accessed internally or from the south verandah. The lounge and dining room are available to all guests as well. This is a T.V. free home. We spend a lot of our time in the garden, making food, as well as around the table enjoying the freshly prepared ingredients and discussing all manner of topics. Guests may stroll around the property, to see the large flower gardens, or walk through the rainforest. For those who have sensitivities to bities, a repellant is advised. Interaction with GuestsI'm available to guests needing local knowledge of the area, as well as a description of Guunuwa's sustainable focus. The animals need feeding every day, so I'm on hand to carry out this chore. The gardens also need attending to, as well as the grass. These are looked after by a long term resident, Brett, who has his own dwelling and wwoofers, who come on the odd occasion to help out. The cultural exchange is enjoyed immensely by all parties. The NeighborhoodWe are a community with a strong interest in protecting Valla's pristine beauty. Getting AroundThe buses run twice a day to Coffs Harbour. But the best mode of transport is still private vehicle. With the new overpass, it is possible to ride or walk to Valla beach. Other Things to NoteCheck out time is 11am, after a late breakfast. The animals have regular feeding times and the garden requires daily maintenance. Any help given is truly appreciated, usually with gifts from the organic garden eg. pick your own strawberries :-) Pets are welcome here at Guunuwa, with the owner being responsible for their care. If you wish your furry friends to be minded, while you are on day trips, or excursions a minimal charge of $10 will apply. This is an organic farm, with the occasional muddy footprint on the step. But, by all means it is not a sterile environment. I use vinegar and bicarb for my cleaning, which have proven to create a sparkle, when combined with good 'ol elbow grease. All cleaning residue washes down to a sensitive grey water reed bed before being expelled into a niimi trench. This is part of Guunuwa's grey water system. A minimum of two hours is required to clean before the next guests arrive. Please ring me if you are going to arrive earlier than 2 pm, to drop off luggage. Otherwise, check-in is usually best from 2 pm onwards.

The SpaceThe space is a separate downstairs area with it's own bedroom, bathroom, sitting area and kitchenette. Suits single or couples but not children. The outlook onto the garden from the bedroom and the living area is relaxing and provides privacy. I will be happy to greet guests on their arrival if possible. Alternative arrangements can be made. Guest AccessGuests have their own driveway off the street and park directly in front of the entrance door. There is a small sitting area out the front to enjoy the morning sun or relax with an afternoon bevy or cuppa. Interaction with GuestsHi, I'm Jenny and I was a travel agent for 10 years and love travelling and look forward to sharing my home with fellow travellers. I've lived in beautiful ValIa Beach for 14 years after being in Bellingen for 22 years and know the Mid North Coast well. The NeighborhoodThis neighbourhood is friendly but a quiet one. We value our lovely area and appreciate the birds, beach and environment. Getting AroundMy house is 5 minutes off the Pacific Highway. There is a local bus that operates and there are bus stops within easy walking distance. They travel to Nambucca Heads (south), Bellingen (north west) and Coffs Harbour (north). There is a taxi service at Nambucca Heads. Coffs Harbour airport is 35 minutes drive from here and Nambucca Heads railway station is a 10 minute drive away. Other Things to NoteYoga students use a separate driveway entrance to my yoga space.

The SpaceThe large garden and direct access to the estuary make for an easy holiday - and no road between us and the beach - just an 8 minute walk through bushland. Fish or bring your kayak to enjoy your own private access to the estuary. The house has a large open-plan living area, the kitchen is well-equipped and the living room has comfortable furniture with flat-screen TV and DVD player. Free Wi Fi is provided. Linen is now provided for every guest - just let us know how many are coming so we can make up the beds. The main bedroom has a queen size bed and ensuite, and looks out over trees and estuary. The second bedroom also has a queen size bed, while the third bedroom has two single beds. The views over Deep Creek estuary are lovely - ideal for people looking for peace and tranquility. The beach is stunning, 7 or 8 minutes walk through bushland - no streets to cross. Children are very welcome. Guest AccessThe house is all yours when you stay, including the large garden. The deck around the house has a barbecue and table and chairs for six. Tea, coffee, salt, sugar, oil and vinegar are provided to allow for easy arrival. Guests can then buy supplies at the local supermarkets a short drive away. Interaction with GuestsWe are available any time by internet and mobile if you need any help or advice about Frogmouth. The NeighborhoodNambucca Heads is a small town (11,000) with breathtaking beaches and headlands. Surf and river beaches such as Shelly, Beilby and Main Beach are popular all year round. Main Beach is patrolled throughout the summer school holidays and at weekends between October and Easter. Our favourite is Shelly beach - ideal for kids. Nambucca hasn't been invaded by trendiness so it is largely unspoilt. There is a large Woolworths supermarket in town, an excellent fresh seafood outlet and a very good Indian restaurant. There are some good cafes, listed in my guidebook, and an Ex-Services Club (RSL) with easy meals, a decent bottle shop and the best views of any RSL in the country, looking out over the Nambucca Estuary. Getting AroundYou will need your own transport to and from Frogmouth. The Nambucca Town Centre is a seven minute drive away through the state forest. Nambucca Taxi Service (don't drink and drive!) is (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) To get to Nambucca from Sydney or Brisbane: By car - a six or seven hour drive. By train - there are two trains daily. By air - Coff Harbour is the nearest airport, a 40 minute drive away. Car hire is available from the airport. Other Things to Note*Linen is now provided in all rooms according to the number of guests booked in. *Access to the nearest beach is a 7 or 8 minute walk through attractive bushland. This beach is stunningly beautiful, a long white sand beach that is usually people-free even at busy times of the year. However, it is not patrolled, so take care, and children are safer in the child-friendly patrolled beaches only a short drive away. Our favourite is Shelly Beach, really good for kids as well as adults.
