The SpaceTandil has long had a reputation for being a salubrious and restorative place, mild-weathered and not as humid as Buenos Aires. It's perched a couple hundred meters above the surrounding Pampa, surrounded by an ancient geological system of hillocks called the Tandilia (approx 500m). This is one of only two mountainous regions in the entire province*. This year the country's two most popular soccer teams came here for their summer training.
* The Prov. of Buenos Aires is approximately the size of the country of Italy.
The city is a beloved weekend getaway for Porteños. There are plenty of outdoor activities such as hiking, bicycling, and climbing, as well as a bustling downtown with beautiful colonial facades, delicious restaurants, clubs, and bars. For a foreigner, Tandil is a great opportunity to step outside the Buenos Aires tourist circuit and get to know the more authentic Argentina.
Our family lives in the US, but this apt is our home away from home when we travel here each year to visit family. Its well-equipped, modern, artsy, and full of light. There is a sunny balcony, a full bathroom, and a queen-sized bed for two in a bedroom looking out towards the Tandilia hills. There is also a divan with a trundle bed in the living room, for up to 4 guests total. Its an internal, second story apartment, safe and quiet, with a secure parking space included for your vehicle.
You probably won't use your car much while you're here, though -- the apt is within the cobbled colonial hub of the city, only three blocks from the main plaza, four blocks from the Parque de la Independencia, and five blocks from the Lago and the sierra surrounding the city. There is a grocery, a verduleria, and a laundromat within a block of the apt, and a taxi depot across the street. (If you're coming in by bus, its about 30-35 pesos by taxi from the Terminal).
Be Advised: Arrivals after 8 PM will be charged an additional 150 pesos. No arrivals between 11pm - 6am.
