The SpaceThis is a pretty luxurious barn. Just the same, it's a barn complete with kitties, horses, and the occasional cow. Downstairs is a work area by day, but every effort is made to respect your space and schedule.
This is a "hostel-like" shared space. The price is per person, and there are three beds available. If you want the whole space for yourself, it's posted separately as a private room. As the photos show, the sleeping and cooking areas are upstairs, and the bathroom is downstairs. Guest AccessIn addition to the loft, you get the run of the land. We raise cattle and keep a garden and greenhouse. Those interested in helping on the ranch or in the garden are invited to pitch in. For those looking for more leisurely activities, we have a kayak and a canoe available to explore the lake. There's a mountiain river crossing the property, with trout and the occasional continental salmon. Alternatively, you can just have a mate on the riverbank and watch the Kingfishers catch the trout.
Hikers can explore trails through the native forest and along the ridgeline to enjoy those impressive mountain views that are so characteristic of this area. Also, our place is close to Los Alerces National Park, where you can walk among Patagonia's millennial trees. Interaction with GuestsWe've lived here for 13 years and are happy to help guests make the most of their time in the area--local knowledge, booking activities, and planning onward travel. Getting AroundGetting here is part of the adventure. There's an 18 km gravel road from Ruta 71 (in Cholila) to our place. You can walk (3 hrs), bike (1 1/2 hrs), or drive (45 min). Daily buses from El Bolson and Esquel pass by on Ruta 71, and remises are available in Cholila and El Bolson. If you plan to arrive on horseback, you're welcome to stable your horses here. If your visit happens to coincide with one of our trips to town, we will be happy to help you get here and away.
Please keep in mind that we're relatively isolated, so you'll need to bring food, books, and anything else you may need to enjoy your stay with us. We generally have our own meat, seasonal veggies and eggs available for purchase, but would prefer you don't count exclusively on that. Other Things to NoteWifi is in the house, NOT in the barn. Guests are welcome to hang out on the porch to use the internet during the day/evening.
