The SpaceParnell Place is in an ideal holiday location, in the heart of Newcastle's historic east-end. Parnell House was built in 1880, one of the first houses in this historic part of Newcastle. It has been partly renovated and offers some unique features, such as original wide polished floor boards, original sandstone block and rock walls in the basement level and some lovely antique furniture. The house is on three levels. The upper floor offers two bedrooms. The main bedroom has a queen size four poster bed and a balcony that overlooks a park and Fort Scratchley. The second bedroom has two single beds. The street level has the lounge room (with sofa bed), recently renovated kitchen and a renovated bathroom (shower only). The bathroom also has a washing machine. The basement level has another large bedroom and sitting room with the unique stone walls. It is believed the stone for these walls originated from the ballast removed from the cargo ships coming into Newcastle Harbour. There is a double bed and single bed provided in this area. Due to the age of this house it has steep stairs, which means it may not be ideal for very young children or the elderly. . Parking is on street but we do provide one parking permit. All linen is provided (excluding beach towels) No smoking inside the terrace. Guest AccessThe house comes with: TV, washing machine, linen, outdoor setting, full kitchen and parking permit. Interaction with GuestsMinimal interaction with guests unless requested. The NeighborhoodIt is only a short stroll to all the wonderful things Newcastle offers, including Newcastle and Nobbys Beach, the harbour foreshore, parks, Fort Scratchley, restaurants, entertainment and the city centre. The SpaceHi all, I'm Boris and I have a place to rent. I live with Steven, but while I work in Sydney, I rent my room out. Steven is in their late 20's, engineer, working at the University of Newcastle. He is friendly, easygoing and helpful. Going back to the Unit, this is a lovely one: clean, tidy and friendly, with a super spacious room, great view, and close to everything in the heart of Newcastle. If you drive a car, you can use the visitors parking in the complex at no extra cost. The unit is located in The Hill suburb. The Hill is one of the oldest and nicest suburbs in the Newcastle area. It is very central, close to bus and train stations, close to Darby street, to Honeysuckle area, and to the beach. On Darby street, you will find many restaurants and cafes to enjoy your stay in Newcastle. Not far from this unit, you can also access to the Honeysuckle and Foreshore area. From there, the lighthouse is just a few minutes walk. THINGS TO DO Festivals Newcastle holds a variety of cultural events and festivals. The Newcastle Regional Show is held in the Newcastle Showground annually. There are a mixture of typical regional show elements such as woodchopping displays, showbags, rides and stalls and usually fireworks to complement the events in the main arena. The Mattara festival, founded in 1961, is the official festival of Newcastle with a more traditional 'country fair' type program that combines a parade, rides, sporting events, band competitions and portrait and landscape painting exhibitions. The Newcastle Jazz Festival is held across three days in August, and attracts performers and audiences from all over Australia. The Shoot Out 24 Hour Filmmaking Festival, first started in Newcastle in 1999. This is the film festival where film-makers come together in one place to make a short film in 24 hours. It is run annually in July. This Is Not Art is a national festival of new media and arts held in Newcastle each year over the October long weekend. Since its humble beginnings in 1998, it has become one of the leading arts festivals in Australia dedicated to the work and ideas of communities not included in other major Australian arts festivals. The umbrella program includes the independent festivals Electrofringe, the National Young Writers' Festival, Critical Animals, Sound Summit, Crack Theatre Festival and other projects that vary from year to year. The Newcastle Entertainment Centre, located inside the Newcastle Showground is a popular venue for regular events including wrestling, concerts and monster truck shows. Music Newcastle has an active youth music culture, as well as a Conservatorium of Music which is part of the University of Newcastle. It continues to support local bands and has a large underground music scene. The members of Silverchair, the highly successful Australian band, hail from Newcastle, as does the Australian band The Screaming Jets. It has a fertile punk rock and hardcore scene, which has spawned successful local acts and national acts. Visual arts and galleries Noted Australian artists John Olsen, Margaret Olley and William Dobell once lived in Newcastle and today the city of Newcastle is home to a wide range of public, commercial and private galleries. The Newcastle Art Gallery is home to one of Australia's most substantial public art collections outside a major capital city, and its extensive collection of works by contemporary and historical Australian visual artists presents a comprehensive overview of Australian art. Due to an ongoing space issue, the gallery is currently planning a major redevelopment. The Von Bertouch Galleries is a commercial gallery founded by Anne Von Bertouch. Theatre Newcastle has a variety of smaller theatres, but the main theatre in the CBD is now the Civic, at Wheeler Place, (seating capacity about 1500), one of Australia's great historic theatres built during 1929 in Art Deco style. It hosts a wide range of musicals, plays, concerts, dance and other events each year. Newcastle previously boasted several large theatres, among them the oldest purpose-built theatre in Australia, the Victoria Theatre on Perkins Street (built 1876, capacity 1750), saw touring international opera companies such as the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company, and other troupes, and played host to some of the greatest stars of the age, such as Dame Nellie Melba, Gladys Moncrieff, and Richard Tauber, (it is now closed and derelict); the Century, Nineways, Broadmeadow, (built 1941, capacity 1800) although largely used as a cinema was a popular Symphony orchestra venue (demolished 1990 after being severely damaged by the 1989 earthquake); the Hunter (capacity 1000) at The Junction, had advanced modern stage facilities, but was eventually sold and demolished to make way for a motel that was destroyed by the 1989 earthquake. The decline in theatres and cinemas from the 1960s onwards was blamed on television. Guest AccessGuests will have access to a private room with clean and comfortable linen, free wireless internet, free tea and coffee, and with access to the kitchen, washing machine and dryer. Interaction with GuestsI have little interaction with guests because I work in another city. I think this is better because they can feel comfortable to have their own agenda. Getting AroundThe apartment is a 200 meters from public transport. Very convenient if you are not driving a car. Off-street parking Other Things to NoteTea, coffee, sugar, milk will be provided.

BEACH HOUSE DETAILS Smoking is not permitted at Stockton Beach House The house is spacious and ideal for large family groups and for large sporting or work groups due to the number of discrete spaces within the house where people can gather together in smaller groups to socialise or relax. The feedback I have received from all the large groups who have stayed at Stockton Beach House is that groups of 12/14 do fit comfortably in the house without feeling crowded. Groups have told me they like the fact that the large double roomed living/dining room (approx. 22sqm in size) is large enough that everyone can gather together in the same room to sit, relax and chat together as one large group; and they also liked being able to spread out over several rooms in smaller groups. The house sleeps 14 people in 11 separate beds in 4 sleeping areas. The beach house has: - 11 beds - Four bed rooms - Two bathrooms. - Two living rooms - Two dining areas. - Two outside entertaining/BBQ areas each 20sqm or more. - A fully functioning kitchen in which you can prepare meals. - A laundry if guests need to do washing during their stay. The sleeping configuration is: - Bedroom 1: Queen bed - Bedroom 2: Queen Bed - Bedroom 3: 3 single beds and a set of bunk beds - this room can sleep 5 - Bedroom 4: a trio bed (double bed on bottom and single on top) and a set of bunk beds - this room can sleep 5. Please Note: Three of the beds are the top bunk of a bunk bed. Because of safety concerns I do not allow children under the age of 10 to use the top bunks. SECURITY BOND The security bond is $600 for a group of 6 or fewer people; for mixed aged family groups of 7 or more people the security bond is $1000. For large groups of adults the security bond may be $2000 BED LINEN & BATH TOWELS Bed linen (sheets) and one bath towel per person is provided. NON-SMOKING PROPERTY. Stockton Beach House has a strict smoking prohibition. NO PARTYING POLICY Stockton Beach House is located in a beach suburbs and has neighbors. Parties are not permitted to be held on the property. GOLFING HOLIDAYS Stockton Beach House is 5 km from Newcastle Golf Course at Fern Bay; 20 km from Pacific Dunes Golf course at Medowie; and 45 km from Horizons Golf Course at Salamander Bay. NEWCASTLE CBD Newcastle CBD is a 3 minute ferry ride away from Stockton. During operating hours the ferry departs Stockton wharf every 30 minutes during non peak hour weekdays and on weekends; and every 20 minutes during peak hours Monday to Friday. Newcastle CBD has many restaurants, shops and a cinema all within walking distance of the ferry wharf. There are also major public transport links close to the Newcastle Ferry Terminal on the CBD side of the harbour. There is on-street parking available. Interaction with GuestsI live in a granny flat in the back yard. I would guess that generally there will be minimal interaction between the guests and myself. The NeighborhoodStockton is a large open space suburb with many reserves and public areas and many activities are available to those who have energy to burn. The beach is 32 kilometres long and goes all the way up to Birubi Beach. There are several events each year which involve either walking or running the 32km stretch of beach for the hardy enthusiasts. There is lots to do at Stockton which do not involve using the car. The beach is 175m from the house - you can go surfing, board riding, kite surfing, fishing and walking. You can get lessons in board riding and stand up paddleboarding. You can go kayaking. Kite-surfing is very popular along the Stockton Beach. For small children the patrolled section of Stockton beach is fantastic. There is a children's playground next to the beach, The beach is usually one of the gentler beaches in the Newcastle area and generally protected from strong surf conditions by the 1km long breakwater at the edge of the harbour. Non beach activites include tennis, bare foot bowls, pool swimming, skateboarding, bike riding, kite flying and playing with balls on the netball courts, footy oval and reserves across the road from the house. Activities within close driving range include 4x4 driving on the Stockton Sand Dunes, golf, horse riding, tobogganing, go karting, whale watching (May to Nov), harbour and dinner cruises. Stockton can be as much fun as you want to make it; it is also a wonderful place to just chill out, de-stress and unwind if that is what you are looking for in a holiday. After you have enjoyed the activities in Stockton you can always catch the ferry over into Newcastle city and enjoy all the sights and activities which the city offers. Or go to the cinema in the CBD. Getting AroundThe ferry is one kilometre from the house. Because the land is flat it is an easy 15 minute walk for most people. The ferry goes every 20 minutes during the morning and afternoon work week peak hour times, it goes every 30 minutes for the other parts of the day and on weekends. There is a bus which goes from the Stockton Ferry to the Newcastle airport and it then goes on to Raymond Terrace via Medowie.

Walk to Nobbys beach and on the way, visit Fort Scratchley , climb The Hill and explore Christ Church Cathedral , stroll through King Edward Park. Don't miss the new Anzac Memorial Walk along the cliff top to Bar Beach. Drawbacks- we have almost nil TV reception . There is a TV/DVD player and some DVDs to watch but you won't be able to pick up live sport or news . There are no laundry facilities, but there are two laundromats nearby. We supply a portable drying rack. We live nearby so we are usually close if you need help . Guest Accesscooking facilities -stove, oven , microwave, small fridge. Iron , ironing board. Hair dryer . Interaction with GuestsWe are there to greet you and since we live only a couple of doors away, we are available to help most of the time. We are happy to support you, but we don't intrude. Your privacy and comfort are important to us. The NeighborhoodWe love the beaches, the sight of the sea..sound of the waves..,sunrise over the ocean ...the moon shining on the water. We love walking, running and sitting in the parks, at the beach and along the foreshore . It's great to wander down to the mall and eat or buy food and flowers , sit reading the paper over a cup of excellent coffee. We love going down to eat overlooking the river or to wander along to one of the wine bars and relax and listen to music . The Sunday sessions at the Brewery are always friendly, casual and relaxed- good music too. There is always something happening whether it's a local or visiting band, jazz, circus, concerts, local markets, writers festivals, film festivals ... People in Newcastle are friendly and helpful as well- Newcastle has the benefit of being a city while still retaining the 'human' face of a small town. Getting AroundThe bus depot for Newcastle is one block away. Some buses go past the door and the nearest bus stop is 100 m away. Taxi services are prompt and efficient. Other Things to NoteMost residents, due to the heritage nature of our area, park on the street. This can become congested because people from outlying suburbs come to the 'East End' to enjoy the beaches and the ambiance of the area.
