The SpaceThe 'Hideaway Cottage' has two bedrooms and two bathrooms with a generous living space, that also has a futon. There is a cosy wood burning fire for the cooler months, air conditioning for the summer as well as splash pool. The cottage is on top of a hill with gorgeous views of the mountain range and stunning vineyards surrounding. It really is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy a glass of the local wine! We are very accommodating so please message us about larger groups, smaller groups as our pricing does change and we are happy to accommodate all our guests where ever possible. Guest AccessGuests have access to all the facilities on the property including, the grounds and gardens, outdoor barbecue areas, pool and patios. Interaction with GuestsYour privacy is paramount! Although we live on site (away from the accommodation) apart from meeting and greeting we do not interact with our guests unless they require assistance. This may include offering advice about local attractions and venues. We offer transport if required for wine tours and tastings, dinner and venue transfers. Please just ask! The NeighborhoodWe love everything about our neighbourhood, including vineyards and wineries, restaurants and cafes, playing golf on championship courses, horse riding, bike riding, The Hunter Valley Gardens, The Hunter Valley Zoo, this area hosts world class concerts with internationally acclaimed artists and talent, the 2014/15 lineup includes The Rolling Stones, Paul Simon, Sting, John Butler Trio just to name a few. Getting AroundThere are a number of modes of transport around the valley. Guests can of course use their own vehicles, they can hire bicycles, hire cars or wine tour buses. We have plenty of onsite parking to offer our guests and for those coming from the airport, car hire is an option or use of a shuttle service. Please enquire with us regarding any local transfers and wine tour needs as we will also be able to help. Other Things to NoteNot far from the Hunter Valley is the beautiful coastal area of Port Stephens. A day trip from Hermitage Hideaway may include a drive across to the coast, a whale watching cruise, lunch and some shopping in Nelson Bay down on D'Albora Marinas.

The SpaceA private, detached granny flat is in a great quiet part of town. Less than a minute to walk to the shops. Fully self contained with ensuite, kitchen and living and bedroom. Furniture and utensils provided. Great for teachers, health workers etc. This is a clean and cosy granny flat, fully air conditioned. Private kitchen and bathroom. Two beds with brand new mattresses. Off street parking is available. Washing machine and dishwasher are available in the house if needed. This space would be ideal for teachers, students, vacation workers, healthcare workers (it's less than 500m from the hospital) or anybody else staying short-medium term. The granny flat is fully self contained with everything you need. Linen is not provided but can be supplied if required - $10 per week. Close to everything, very quiet part of town. Guest AccessOff street parking is available, just don't block the driveway! Interaction with GuestsThe hosts will be around most days but the flat is completely private. We are always happy to chat though - just come and knock on the door! If you need to borrow anything we are more than happy to lend it to you while you stay, just ask. Within 1/2 hour you can be in Paterson, Morpeth, Maitland and lots of Hunter Valley wineries. The Valley boasts a wide range of restaurants and cafes. Activities like hot air ballooning, sky-diving and flying lessons are available for the more adventurous. Located in gorgeous countryside between the Lovedale wine district and historic Morpeth, we are well located to provide a great jumping off point for all the Hunter Valley has to offer. Or you might prefer, as many of our guests do, to give in to the temptation to just sit in the hammock with a book and enjoy the amazing scenery and the ducks playing in the dam. The SpaceYour hosts Phillippa and Glenn are so happy we can share our piece of paradise with you. We are at the centre of the Hunter Valley with a cellar door next door and the concerts just one street away makes this your ideal holiday or getaway. The stately driveway sets the scene as private and tranquil setting prepares you for a relaxing holiday and to enjoy the local vineyards and entertainment. Outside you will find the pristine pool with deck chairs or go for a walk where you will find the property and includes a large Dam, Rainforest and wineries surrounding it including next door. If you enjoy walking there is a road that goes around the entire property where you will enjoy the tranquil setting or you can drive around it to see what it has to offer. It is 3.3kms to Bimbadgen estate or an extra 2.3kms to Hope Estate making it a perfect position if your going to the concerts. We have a horses Melody, and Remi, and also a pet puppy Buffy that lives with us. She is a tiny tea cup Chihuahua that stays with us and is not allowed to socialise with the guests. We also have a lovely Border Collie, Kale who loves a pat and nine chickens for fresh eggs. Full Breakfast is included which is supplied to have at your leisure and pod coffee machine also included. You will find in your private fridge, juice, milk, butter, jam, and bacon. In your hamper basket you will find fresh daily eggs, cereal, toast ( plain and thick cafe raisin toast), muffins, sugar, salt and pepper and sauces. You can either cook in the kitchen or on the back verandah on the BBQ which is very easily operated. We take great pride in our property and everything the Hunter Valley has to offer and welcome any requests. There is many places for wine tasting along our road, which incorporates many of the best wineries in the area. We hope you enjoy your stay and look forward to meeting you. The bedrooms have sofa chairs in them and we find guests like to sit outside looking at the scenery. The cabin has a lounge if that's more suitable for you. Getting AroundLarge rural areas. Best to travel by car. Or bike. Other Things to Note1NIGHT STAYS While most holiday homes dont offer 1 night stays we try to accommodate these requests. Please note that an extra cleaning fee for 1 night only will apply. Due to cleaning a whole house and setup costs. We also do accept 1 night stays on the weekend but as the majority of our revenue is based on a 2 night weekend rate nearly the full weekend rate will be charged. As if you decide to book the Saturday it would be highly unlikely we would be able to book a Friday or vice versa.

Since the first vine was planted in the 1820s the area is now the home of many well known brands. Many vineyards offer wine tasting tours; to get an overall view of the area the best way is from one of the many look out points or take an early morning balloon ride. Some vineyards also hold events such as operas, light entertainment, with well known singers, and craft fares. The Barrington Tops NP, part of Australia World Heritage Area, offers guided tours, cabins within the Park as well as camping & caravan sites. There are many other Parks in the Region that are well worth visiting. Newcastle was the second European settlement and Nobby’s Head was noticed by Captain Cook in 1770. The lighthouse is well worth a visit as are many historical buildings. Newcastle is the main port for exporting coal from the Hunter Valley Region. It is fast becoming a centre for arts in the area with entertainers coming from around the world. Further to the north is the area of Scone which has been dubbed the horse racing area of Australia. Here the visitor can see vast studs owned by some of the best names in racing. Beyond Scone is the town of Tamworth known worldwide for its Country Music Festival held for a week in January. The Annex is in an ideal location to visit all of the above as well as sampling wines of the Hunter Valley and savouring the excellent food on offer. Wyndham Estate established in 1828, the birthplace of Australian Shiraz, is 15 minutes away. There are a couple of boutique vineyards within 10 minutes open on certain days. Historic Morpeth, once a large inland river port, with its wide street, shops and excellent museum charting the history of the area will give the visitor an idea of a 1800s settlement. The 60 acre Hunter Valley Gardens with 10 individual themed gardens, one of which is a story book theme for children, is a must for gardeners. Various events are held throughout the year culminating in the spectacular Christmas Light show. North of Newcastle is Stockton (50 minutes) & the 35km Stockton Bight stretching from Newcastle to Anna Bay. Another good day out is the One Mile Beach near Hawks Nest and Tea Gardens. The former coal mining town of Maitland (40 minutes) has an excellent park with 3 swimming pools, children’s bike track and play area. The town hosts a 2 day Food, Wine and Music Festival in March and a Coffee Chocolate & Fine Food Festival in August. The nearest town of Branxton (15 minutes) has a supermarket, excellent butcher, cafes, pharmacy, hardware and bottle shop selling beer and local wine. The Royal Federal Hotel offers good meals at competitive prices. There are a number of golf courses within easy reach, an excellent park with 3 swimming pools and play area. The nearest beaches are approximately 1hrs drive. Both Maitland and Singleton (30 minutes) have hospitals offering 24hr coverage. Because of the rural location of The Annex it is essential to have a car. There are many ways to get to The Annex from Sydney: fly to Newcastle or take the train & hire a car. Drive the Freeway or take a leisurely drive via the Hawkesbury River and follow the old Northern convict route through Wollembi.

We have a horses Melody and baby Remi, (sorry not available for rides) and also a pet puppy Buffy that lives with us. She is a tiny tea cup Chihuahua that is not allowed to socialise with the guests. Getting AroundPublic transport, bus stop is just 200m up the street, if you want to book tours all available in booklets in the cottages on your arrival. Other Things to NoteWe have environment friendly cottages and use rain water for the everyday use! Also recycle all our rubbish and we will ask you to feed our chickens with your left over food...if you like!! Fresh eggs maybe available for you.. it depends of the month of the year that you visit us!

                  The SpaceThe room has a super comfortable queen-sized bed with en-suite. It faces a great salt water swimming pool. Our garden is a bit wild but really beautiful and there is adequate shade throughout the day. All the usual amenities are available including a bar-fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. There is a huge games room with a full-sized pool table and gym equipment. There is a double futon in the games room to accommodate extra guests. Both the main guest room and the games room have cable TV. The bathroom can be accessed without intruding on the main guest room. Guest AccessOur guests enter via the main guest room and have access to the games room and of course the dining room. All the outdoor area is available and there are adequate tables, chairs and loungers around the pool area. The walking track is great for an early morning walk in summer or anytime in winter. The pool is available for use anytime. Pathways are well lit at night. If you have extra guests, the games room can be accessed independently. Interaction with GuestsWe are aware of our guests need for privacy, but we are also sociable and willing to interact and share in their experience should they wish. We usually take the time to have a coffee with our guests at breakfast if they're not pressed for time. The NeighborhoodThe Hunter Valley is where we're at, great wine, great dining etc. and as we also love the lifestyle, we're well placed to advise you. But our little town of Branxton is delightful in its own right. We have a good IGA, a reasonably priced bottle shop, a pub and 2 clubs which all serve good food. Great hamburgers, sandwiches, pies, Chinese food and fish and chips are available in the local take-away shops. Some of the best restaurants in the Hunter Valley are within a 15 minute drive. We have a country growers market on the third Saturday of the month at Miller Park and The Sacred Tree Markets on the third Sunday of each month at the old Catholic school. The newly introduced Umbrella Festival in October looks like it will become a great attraction for the town. There is a sign on entering the town advising drivers that "we have 2 cemeteries but no hospital" but there are adequate medical facilities in Branxton and the neighbouring town of Greta. Many European migrants spent their first years in the Greta Migrants Camp and this makes our community lively, interesting and diverse. Greta also has the BIG fast food outlets Getting AroundThere is a train from Branxton to Sydney at least twice daily, but I think anyone staying with us would need their own vehicle. Public transport isn't great, however we can arrange a door to door bus to the concerts and Rover Motors operate a bus from Branxton on concert days. The local pub offers a courtesy bus. We are 15 minutes from the Hunter Valley Wineries, Singleton, Maitland and Cessnock and about an hour to the Upper Hunter Wineries. We are 5 minutes to the freeway and a bit over 2 hours to Sydney airport. It's 40 minutes to Newcastle and to Williamtown airport. Other Things to NoteWe have 2 old dogs (collie crosses) and one mighty ginger Tiger. They are all outside animals (except the cat who has his own rules) He's not, however, allowed in the guest area. There is a walking track on the property and it takes about 30 minutes to do the circuit. There are usually kangaroos around and the bird-life is awesome.

Shuttle buses run from the Vintage on concert days at half hourly intervals. Getting AroundRover coach bus service direct to all concert venues on all Concert nights. Shuttle buses and private tours by arrangement.... Otherwise many attractions are only a short stroll. Bike hire is also available for drop off and collection. Other Things to NoteWe supply a bottle of local wine, Tea and Coffee with a light breakfast of raisin toast and other treats. These are included as part of your stay. There are very good restaurants within walking distance from the apartment.
