The SpaceA Little Piece of Paradise! If you are traveling and just need a quiet, comfortable place to rest awhile, or you need some peaceful time away from the city hassle, or you want to experience Australian country life (down on the farm) you will be very welcome. I've hosted many overseas students on Australian farm experience holidays - they are delightful and we've had a lot of fun. I hope you will too!
The home is comfortable with all mod cons, situated just over 1 hours drive from Sydney down the M5. A pleasant stop-over if you are heading to or from Melbourne or Canberra. 25 acres of paddocks and natural bushland with kangaroos, wombats, the odd fox and rabbit or two, and wonderful birdlife - black & white cockatoos, galahs, brilliant coloured parakeets, kookaburras, white faced herons, and masses of brightly coloured wrens just to mention a few.
Put your feet up on the back patio and relax watching the REAL reality show of nature. Or make friends with my beautiful Lipizzaner mare (the horse breed of the Spanish Riding School of Vienna fame), or feed the blue tongue lizards, or go for an amble down the paddock, or play table tennis on the patio. Or just sleep!
There is one bedroom with queen size four-poster bed, one single room, and an adjacent bathroom with toilet, shower & bath (which is exclusive to you). The big back sun-room has a double bed for extra accommodation but is not fully private.
If you have a dog please email me to discuss its requirements. There are no fences but a secure dog pen on the back patio and lots of grassy areas to play on. If you are traveling with a horse or competing at the Camden Bicentennial Equestrian Park, there is indoor stabling for 3, a grass yard, grass arena and round-yard. Guest AccessPARKING:
Free parking for car on driveway or undercover in big shed. Motor Home, Caravan, Horse Float in adjacent paddock or undercover in big shed.
Roads leading to the property are sealed and the driveway is civilized so two wheel drive vehicles are fine.
Home is on one level throughout with small step into house. Luggage from cars can be brought through front door direct from driveway. The bathroom is not set up for wheelchair access - sorry.
Main Bedroom: Queen Size Four-poster Bed.
Single Bedroom: Single Bed.
Back Sunroom: Double Bed. (Not fully private as part of the sunroom.)
Located opposite Main Bedroom and next to Single bedroom. Exclusive for your use. Shower, bath (bring your bubble bath and rubber duck!), toilet, hand basin/vanity unit, mirror, shaving mirror, towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, hand cream, tissues, toilet paper (obvious, but better mention) and hair dryer. There is also the usual supply of emergency bits and pieces if needed, and if you’ve forgotten the Aerogard it's here too.
QUEEN SIZE FOUR-POSTER BED with memory foam top mattress, variety of firm and soft pillows, plenty of extra eiderdowns available, generous sized hanging rack with coat and skirt hangers, chest of drawers with six drawers, chair, bedside table lamps, personal fan, tissues, power points, one wall of mirrors.
SINGLE BED with memory foam mattress, variety of firm and soft pillows, plenty of extra eiderdowns available, hanging rack with coat and skirt hangers, bedside cupboard with shelves, stool, table lamp, personal fan, tissues, power points, cheval mirror.
The sunroom has a DOUBLE BED which can be used for sleeping if required. There are table and chairs and it is a great place for meals, sitting and gazing out into the garden and paddock. The sunroom is a favourite place when it is not too hot - during summer days it can be a bit too warm, but lovely in the early mornings and evenings.
If you want to do your own cooking you are welcome. There is a Smeg electric oven, gas cook-top, a micro-wave, electric jug and the usual assortment of pots, pans, dishes etc. Use what you want but please wash/clean up afterwards. Dishwasher is the good old fashioned hands into bowl type.
BREAKFAST: Cereal, Milk, Toast, Butter, Jam, Honey, Scrambled Eggs, Bacon. Sorry, I do not keep fruit juice or soft drinks in the house. Bottomless Tea, Green Tea, Camomile & Coffee, Cold Water and Ice are provided. A separate fridge for your use is located in the sunroom (just outside the kitchen door) together with small storage area for non-perishable food.
PATIO and BBQ:
There is a bottle gas BBQ on the back patio. In the Australian tradition, it is the male’s domain to cook on the BBQ and in maintaining this tradition I haven’t learned how to use it very well! Happy to give basic instructions and see what happens! You may be a whiz and I will be happy to learn!
The back patio is a wonderful place to be. It is large and has tables and chairs, a swing seat, table tennis table and a frog or two in the fernery, all overlooking the big back lawn, the pretty ‘rockery’ and the vista down the property. Lovely!!
A big room with lots of soft sofas and chairs, and a small bar if you feel at home perching on a stool. The TV is only free to air stuff, but I have some DVDs and ALL the Inspector Rex episodes if you are interested!
You are welcome to use the laundry for your clothes: washing machine, dryer or hanging on the patio. A $2.00 donation in the piggy bank towards laundry liquid would be appreciated. Please note: NO horse or dog items, thank you.
A big back lawn and approx 10 acres of grass paddocks for you and your dog to walk in, and approx 12 acres of natural bush land to explore.
A big back lawn and lots of paddock for games and exercise, but no secure fencing so pooch needs to be under control at all times. I have hissy-fit cats in the house and a dog, so we would have to see how they all get on together! Please email me to discuss the comfort of your dog. There is a secure dog pen on the undercover back patio with bed. Please bring your own dog food, food bowl, water bowl and bedding. NO CHARGE for dog providing everything is left clean (hose out dog pen and clean back lawn please).
Facilities are available for overnight stays but no trail riding is permitted on the property. There are three indoor stables, a grass yard, grass arena and a round-yard which you can use, plus wash-down area. No stallion facilities. My horses will be kept separate out in the paddock. Parking in the side paddock for car and float through a separate gateway. $25.00 PER HORSE, straw bedding provided. Stables MUST be left clean. To book horse/s book as extra people at $25.00 per night and let me know that they need a stable not a bed!
If you want to go on a picnic I can lend you things to sit on, plastic plates, cutlery etc. and a cold pack for drinks. I also have spare puffer jackets if the weather turns cold.
Power points in bedrooms for charging mobile phones etc.
The house is air conditioned, well insulated and comfortable. The open fire in the lounge looks pretty but is not used now as the ash floats through the house and makes house cleaning a nightmare! Interaction with GuestsThis is basically up to you, whether you want to chat or eat together, or do your own thing. As long as you are happy to interact with the odd cat or two! The Neighborhood2km down the road is a handy bottle shop! convenience store and petrol station, and a further 2km is THE OAKS village with grocer, greengrocer, bakery, deli, very good local butcher, newsagent, chemist and post office.
