A Go Get Car share pod is nearby, as are City Cycle stations and cab ranks. Having noted all of that - most people make use of the convenient location and just enjoy the walk! The SpaceWhy stay in a hotel or generic apartment when you can experience true inner-city Brisbane life and stay in historic Spring Hill? Live like a local in this exclusive suburb. The proximity to the city centre (approximately a 10 minutes walk!) and South Bank (5 minute drive), makes this an ideal location for visitors to Brisbane or those visiting to work or study in the city or universities. We are 20 minutes by car to the airport and close to all major public transport. Consider going to North and South beaches, both within an hour or so drive: Gold Coast to the South - my pick for more 1950's feel, the hinterland and Tambourine Mountains; and to the North, the Sunshine Coast, national parks and the famous, very upmarket, Noosa beach with amazing restaurants (you may need more than just a few days to really enjoy all this!). For those with children, or the young at heart, we are also 40 minutes from world class theme parks (Movieworld, Dreamworld, Wet'n Wild and Sea World) and around an hour to Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo). Park right out the front with an unlimited resident parking permit that we will supply for your convenience free of charge (and requested in advance). Our 'granny-flat' (small apartment) is located under the main house where hosts live. It is self-contained and has it's own entrance and is very quiet, secure and private. Free WiFi Internet, FREE Netflix, TV, coffee machine and tea and coffee supplies, free parking permit (to be requested in advance, please), compact kitchenette with basic cooking amenities, washer/dryer, combined lounge/main bedroom with Queen size bed with cloud-like, latex mattress, separate bedroom with 2 single beds, bathroom supplies, linen and fluffy towels, fan, heater - even a cot if you are travelling with a baby! The whole apartment is fully screened - we even supply our own 'guide book', filled with information on our favourite restaurants, take away and home delivery options, transport, etc. just bring your clothes, move in and feel like you've always lived here! We live upstairs and will welcome you on arrival where possible, and give you tips of where to eat and play. After that, you will have complete privacy - you have your own entrance but we are always available and are quick to respond if you need an emergency restaurant tip or directions to the beach! Note: Our lovely cleaning lady comes to clean our home. We can arrange for her to clean your apartment for a fee if you're staying for a while and would like your linens changed during your stay. Spring Hill is an inner suburb of Brisbane - probably the most "inner-city" of all, and is located 2 kilometres (1.2 miles) north of the central business district (CBD). Its post code is 4000, the same postcode as the GPO, and it is a short walk from the CBD. Parts of Spring Hill can be considered to be extensions of the Brisbane CBD. It is one of the oldest residential neighbourhoods in Brisbane with many houses dating from the nineteenth century. A very eclectic suburb, it contains old convict-built buildings, worker's cottages (our home is a renovated, and enlarged workers cottage), apartments, free-standing houses, shops, private schools and office blocks; as well as a couple of hospitals. The heritage listed 'Spring Hill Baths', the oldest public baths in Queensland, are just around the corner, as are the Exhibition ('EKKA') showgrounds, an aquatic centre and gym, the Royal Brisbane Hospital, several pubs, Chinatown, cafes and the gorgeous Roma Street Parklands - a huge public space and curated gardens in the middle of the city (very 'Zen'). A slightly longer walk or few minutes in a cab will get you to trendy New Farm (foodies and shoppers Heaven), Teneriffe (heritage architecture and cafe district), the vibrant Fortitude Valley (the hub of Brisbane's nightclub district) and South Bank with its numerous restaurant and a city beach. Although we are on the doorstep of the city, our neighbourhood is remarkably quiet. Best of all, unless you will be travelling outside of Brisbane, you won't need a car - walk everywhere or use any of the nearby public transport options (trains, buses, water ferries and 'citycats'). There is a government-provided bike hire service, too. See the 'Translink' website for any of your transport needs. If you require parking, please notify us in advance as a permit will be required, which we can arrange (for free!) with notice. The free 'Spring Hill Loop' bus service is a 2 minutes walk from our front door, the main train stations, 'Central' and 'Roma Street' are just minutes away. The city centre is around a 7 minute walk (or about a $8 cab fare) and 2 campuses of Queensland University of Technology can be reached on foot or bike. 3 night minimum, please. Guest AccessYou will have access to you entire flat, with private access from the main house. You will also have a small private outside entertainment area with furniture to seat 4 near the pool. Interaction with GuestsI will not intrude on your privacy but am available to answer any queries or give tips for local sights and restaurants as needed. Interaction with GuestsI am home one night a week at the moment, so you are likely to have the place to yourself a few nights. I am happy to interact with guests as much or as little as you prefer when I am home. If you're interested in things to do and see in Brisbane, please ask! I'm more than happy to point you in the right direction for local restaurants, day trips, public transport, sporting events, nightlife etc. I am always contactable via phone or email when I'm not at home The NeighborhoodThe neighbourhood features beautiful timber houses, and are part of the heritage tours of Brisbane of its history cottages and landmark Windmill. Its a convenient walk down to the hustle and bustle of the city, however its still quiet at night. There are excellent restaurants, cafes, nightlife within a short walk and Suncorp Stadium is just one stop away. Public transport is excellent, with Central and Roma train station, buses including a free city loop, Roma Street Bus terminal (for interstate travel), CityCat terminal and CityCycle all within walking distance. Super convenient location, and a sweet walk down to everything in the city. The stairs can be a bit of a work out heading up (there's often people jogging up and down them doing fitness training). Work in some fitness during your stay in Brisbane! Getting AroundLeave the car at home! Super convenient within the city center, Queen Street Mall (main shopping district), walk the bridge across the river to Southbank (lifestyle precinct with restaurants along the river with city center public sandy beach), Museums etc. City Central Train Station 4 minutes walk (direct Airtrain from the airport) to anywhere in Brisbane. Free spring hill loop bus a few steps away. Beautiful Roma Street parklands nearby too. Roma Street Brisbane Interstate Bus Terminal Station is 7 minutes walk. Next to Brisbane Private Hospital, St Pauls Hospital, and major hotels (without the hotel price tag). Feeling energetic? Citycycle (Council bike hire stop) around Brisbane or to Suncorp stadium. City convenience in a heritage cottage. Other Things to NoteThis is a newly renovated historical 1890's Queenslander Worker's Cottage. Lovely as its warm charm, the home (or any other home in Australia) will tend to attract ants if food is left out and with puddles of water. Pest control is maintained every 6 months, however there is spray under the sink if the need arises. The house has no inbuilt cooling or heating, so can get hot in summer and cold in winter. There is a fan in the room for summer, and please bring warm pajamas and clothes for the cooler months.

The SpaceYou will be welcomed by a simple, cosy sunroom. The sunroom features wooden floors, a double bed, a fan, and floor lamp. Shampoo and Conditioner will be provided, body wash, a towel, use of hairdryer and a map of the city. There is a coffee machine you can feel free to use, it takes Nespresso or Nespresso compatible pods. The sun room can get very hot throughout the day in summer, especially since the sides are covered by wooden louvres not windows, but you'll be busy exploring Brisbane, and at night there is a lovely cross breeze if you open the windows on both sides. Weather can be unpredictable in Brisbane however, and this is the hottest room and there is no air con, however a fan can be provided. Winter can be cold so I will provide extra blankets and warm PJs. There is also traffic noise during the day as the room is on the street level, so just in case, bring ear plugs and an eye mask and you'll be sweet. I have another larger room with a double bed listed too. This room is more comfortable for two guests as there is very limited room in the sunroom, and often suitcases may not all fit inside, however guests are welcome to leave their bags in the hallway. For pure comfort and convenience ( ie a wardrobe to hang your clothes- the other room I have listed is more suitable for business travellers as this room only has a coat stand). Due to work commitments, I don't stay in the cottage often anymore. The SpaceCome and stay in my pied-à-terre! This 52sqm converted apartment is ideal for a short or long term stay in Brisbane. It has all of the convenience and amenities of a hotel (pool, gym, king sized bed, lockable safe) but with the added homeliness of a fully self-contained apartment on the northern fringe of the city. The apartment is on the 19th floor of an iconic Brisbane building, originally constructed for guests of the World Expo in 1988. The apartment contains a phone with unlimited local calls, ADSL2+ wifi, fresh linens, towels, complete kitchen for cooking and dining, Nespresso machine, European laundry (washer/dryer combo), shower/bath (including spa in the bath) beautiful bath products and stocked cleaning essentials. I always personally ensure that the apartment is well-maintained and cared for. The apartment is across the river from fun Southbank, but with the convenience of being a 10 minute walk from the heart of the City. North Quay is the most northern point of the Brisbane CBD, and includes Brisbane's main transport hub. The building sits on a convenient corner of the Brisbane CBD with direct access to the Brisbane river at its doorstep (just walk across the road and onto the walk path below). The Roma Street Station is a 6 minute walk (400 metres). Whilst not our city's most attractive transport mecca, it is the largest and most comprehensive train/bus terminal. If it is a nice day, you can take a 10 minute stroll (1km) down to the North Quay CityCat stop and explore Brisbane by water. Alternatively, you may wish to walk across the Kurilpa Bridge (our pedestrian and bike bridge built in 2009) to get to Southbank to take in some modern art! Walk to Queen Street mall (10 minute walk) to do some shopping. You may like to walk to the Barracks (4 minute walk) and have dinner at one of our celebrated restaurants! Getting AroundThere is so much transport near this apartment! Buses, trains, ferries and a cab rank just outside the building. Also, feel free to park a hire car - the basement car park (clearance height 1.90 metres) is unallocated and available (unless full). Other Things to NoteWhat I lack in reviews (new host) I make up for in recommendations: read my Guidebook for Brisbane on the map.

The SpaceIncluded is the full “eco-pod”, in one of the greenest homes in Brisbane. Your separate entrance leads into a sophisticated lounge (TV and media) room and kitchenette. A stunning king bed master suite with views across Spring Hill and a beautiful master ensuite are on the second floor. Complementing this architecturally striking home is private access to your own intimate eco-plunge-pool; perfect for relaxing on those steamy Brisbane summer nights. The library shelves are packed with travel books, contemporary novels and family games. In the bathroom you will find luxurious Appelles products, which all use certified organic oils, and native Australian extracts. An Appelles oil burner also adds unique ambiance and a lovely touch of romance. The kitchenette includes fridge, microwave, organic tea/coffee, a toaster and if required, access to a BBQ. Any washing up gets done magically by the washing up fairy. All of this luxury and convenience less than one kilometre easy stroll to the city centre or the pumping nightlife of Fortitude Valley/Chinatown. For guests 3 and/or 4 there is a fantastic sofa bed downstairs which converts into either a King bed for couples, or two king singles for the kids. The photos will help you understand how that works. The home itself, has been developed to demonstrate the principles of sustainable housing and is occasionally opened to the public to inspire and educate. It has featured on TV and in newspapers and in many home and lifestyle and enviro-magazines. All appliances are water and energy efficient, the lights are all LEDs. The house proves that the resort style contemporary lifestyle often demanded does not have to be at the expense of our at risk environment. This is your chance to live the life of luxury while visiting, playing or working in Brisbane, and to see how sustainability feels and what it looks like. Organic breakfast provided for all residents. Guest AccessYour “eco pod” is separated from the rest of the property by an open grassed courtyard. The main house has another three bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen and dining (under a glass ceiling to allow you to dine under the stars!) and garage/laundry. The full property may be available if required and on request (additional pricing applies). Ask for details. Interaction with GuestsYour host is available for assistance and advice and will have as much or as little contact with you as you require, to help make your Brisbane accommodation choice the best decision you ever made. The NeighborhoodThe house is about as central as you can get in Brisbane. You can walk easily to the city centre (the main city shopping pedestrian mall and the business district), Fortitude Valley (entertainment central), the Brisbane River and Southbank Parklands. It is close to transport (buses at the top of the street and trains – central station is a 5 minute walk), shops, casual dining, parks, gymnasiums, bike and walking tracks. The suburb of Spring Hill is steeped in history as one of Brisbane’s oldest suburbs and the streets are full of quaint “Queenslander” style worker’s cottages. Isaac Street itself, although very central is remarkably quiet, with friendly neighbours, and you will often forget how close to the city and all the action you really are. Getting AroundConvenient bus, train and taxi options are all within short walking distance. Buses regularly run at the end of the street and Central Train Station is a 5 minute walk away. The SpaceWelcome to my lovely Late Colonial era house located in Spring Hill, Brisbane. Built in the Victorian period of the 1880's it was among one of the first homes to be built in Brisbane and it has the most amazing atmosphere, which reflects her heritage. Built in a time before cars, electricity and telephones, it truly is living history. Contemporary additions have been made which are sympathetic to the building. These include reverse cycle air-conditioning in all bedrooms, Cable TV, high speed Internet and CCTV security system guarding the external areas of the house. It has also undergone completely new wiring & plumbing, soundproofing and insulation of the walls and floor areas and added smoke and carbon monoxide detectors as well as fire extinguishers in every room, yet the essence of the house remains unchanged. I have owned the house for the past 20+ years and she is affectionately known as the “Spring Hill Mansion”. If you’re looking for a unique, memorable and quintessentially Brisbane experience then look no further. You may have seen my other listings on AirBnB for the front of the house (a 2 bedroom self contained apartment and the rear of the house; 2 bedroom self contained loft apartment), this listing is for the complete grand house. Occasionally both sides of the house are vacant and I am able to open the interconnecting hallway and restore her to one grand family home. The house consists of a large gourmet kitchen, that looks onto the rear of the house and (small) garden, and the rear street. The kitchen is well equipped. It has 5 burner natural gas hob with wok burner, large electric - fan forced oven/grill, Microwave, Dishwasher, Coffee Maker, Toaster, Blender, Fridge/Freezer and all the cooking utensils, flatware and serving dishes to cater up to 10 when books as such. I’m currently establishing a small herb garden in the back yard with some trial vegetables as well. It’s only a small patch and it may or may not work – unfortunately I’m not a green thumb, but you are welcome to pick and eat as you desire, and I can thoroughly recommend watering the garden at dusk while watching Spring Hill life passing by is very de-stressing. (on that note there is a children’s playground 15 metres from the back door – see pics, so if you are travelling with children its an ideal place to relax as well.) My work involves travel, and usually I occupy the back of the house when home, but if you rent the whole house you will find all the fridges clean and empty, all perishables will be gone. I leave out coffee, tea, sugar, and long life milk in the fridge for your use. While you are here, my home is your home. The house will be available to you in perfect condition, identical to a hotel, so you can make it your home for the entire time of your stay. The back bathroom is modern and super large. It has a skylight and sky-facing window, which provide plenty of natural light as well as a surprising view of the blue sky from the bath. As you can see from the pictures it has a huge bath plus an enormous walk in rain shower. There is plenty of hot water as well so you can indulge yourself. The rear laundry consists of a washing machine and clothes dryer; if you want to be kind on your clothes (and the environment) there is a clothes line out the back of the house to hang washing out, too. On the ground level, with direct access to the kitchen, is what was the house’s parlour. This now serves as an open plan dining area with a large clerks table and chairs; the other end of the room is the lounge area in front of a Victorian fireplace. Unfortunately, the fireplace can’t be lit due to local laws and age of the house. It’s purely ornamental but it does add to the charm of the formal lounge area. This room connects to the hallway and the front of the house. The second floor is accessed via a hand hewn wooden staircase in the corner of the lounge (the staircase is narrow) but its size belies the abundance of space to be found beyond. The second level contains the bedrooms and, as best as we know, was added mid last century to accommodate a growing family of the third owners’ of the property. The property was built from Australian silver oak, sourced from the local mills at Petrie, and is a great example of colonial construction. The walls use VJ’s or vertical joints, also known as tongue and groove, but in this case run mostly horizontally to create the wall linings. This style of building went on to be very common in Queenslander homes of the next century. These days, due to the cost and the availability of timber board, this type of construction has been rendered obsolete by the introduction of gyprock and panel wall sheeting. The house is in no way inferior for this, I assure you. The second storey was built as a loft, containing two bedrooms, both featuring Dormer windows overlooking the street below, as well as large double hung windows for light and ventilation. From the windows you have views to the city, surrounding buildings, streets, green spaces and, if you’re in town at the right time views of the Jacaranda trees in full bloom, which Brisbane takes delight in each year in October. There are box seats in the Dormer windows of both rooms and this provides an ideal and comfortable spot to watch inner city street life unfold, or, take in a relaxing sunlit read with a glass of wine, hearing the birds in the trees while you unwind. Downstairs and out the front, via the hallway, you will find another 2 separate bedrooms with Queen Beds, the Front (enclosed) Verandah with street views, 2 studies, one off the main bedroom room and the other in a common area. As the front is rented out independently on Airbnb it also has its own fully equipped independent kitchen, which comprises a work bench, 4 burner electric stove with oven and grill, toaster, pod coffee machine, kettle, dishwasher, full size fridge, freezer, microwave, sink, cutlery including bottle openers, can openers, corkscrews, flatware for 4 people. The front of house also has its own bathroom which consists of shower and toilet. There is also a fully automatic washing machine and tumble drier as well as iron, hair dryer etc etc. In total there are 4 bedrooms, 1 bath, 2 showers, 2 complete kitchens, 2 study areas, 2 laundry areas, 1 lounge and dining area and a front verandah. The front door has a ramp, which provides disabled access to the downstairs level and its 2 bedrooms. The rear of the house has off street parking for 2~3 cars depending on the size. All bedrooms have reverse cycle air-conditioning and black out curtains for a great night’s sleep. Bedrooms also feature Queen size beds with pillow topped mattresses as well as personal TV, clock radio, charge station, reading lights, work area and storage / hanging space. Just like the food in the kitchen, when I rent out my side of the house my belongings are put away. I want you to feel like this is your place and as free to enjoy it as you would your own home. The size of the rear house is ideal for families or groups of up to 12 (to sleep 12 there are 2 Queen beds upstairs, 2 Queen beds downstairs and 2 Queen size airbed – available on request) who want to indulge in the charm and elegance of a bygone era. If you are looking for true luxury while visiting Brisbane it is unbelievably spacious as a home with children, too, with robust furniture in a lovely large living space. Despite her age she has been lovingly cared for over the past century; each successive owner ensuring the building was loved, conserved and preserved. When this task fell to me, the current custodian, I followed in the same path. I trust if you stay here you will appreciate her age and splendour and treat her accordingly. She is the Grande Old Dame and your acknowledgement of her age will ensure she continues to age gracefully and providing a comfortable haven for her inhabitants for many years to come. Lastly, you can easily turn away from 21st century accouterments by opening the double hung windows to enjoy a tropical afternoon summer thunderstorms, then basking in the golden sunset as the sky clears. All the while imagining life in the Colony of Brisbane spanning 3 centuries since the 1880’s. My goal is to maintain the house to a very high standard. -All beds have 1200 Thread Count Egyptian Cotton Sheets, Four Pillows per bed, Woollen Blankets and Dooner/Duvet for Winter. - After each guest the rooms are commercially cleaned – hence the cleaning charge. This includes: - -Fully stripping all bedding including cushion covers, mattress and pillow protectors for commercial laundering. -Steam and Vacuum Mattresses individually. -Carpets are steam cleaned each month and thoroughly vacuumed prior to your arrival; a Dyson vacuum and steam mop is available should you wish to vacuum during your stay. -Polished Wooden floors are mopped then steam cleaned with an antiseptic 100% environment friendly floor wash. -Bathroom is fully steam cleaned and restocked with Shampoo/ Conditioner / Hand soap. -All Towels and bathmats are commercially laundered. -Air conditioner filters and fans are cleaned monthly. -All kitchen items hand cleaned including work surfaces, and all flatware regardless of indications of use are re dish washed. I provide a starter pack in the kitchen that includes: - Instant Coffee Coffee pods for Coffee Machine An assortment of premium Tea’s Bottled Water (Brisbane water is fine to drink) Nibbles (depends on seasonal variations - nuts, savoury biscuits, fruit bowl etc) Sugar Milk Salt Pepper For overseas guests I also provide a complementary SIM in case you have just arrived and wish to connect your mobile phone to the Australian mobile network to avoid roaming charges. You are responsible for activating it and all associated usages charges. Once activated the SIM becomes personalised in your name and you are free to take it with you. I also have a selection of local maps, public transport timetables and tourist information which you are free to take. The apartment also has a Laser Printer with Paper that you are free to use if you require print-outs. I’ve found this especially handy when printing out day trip information or directions. The house is equipped with secured wireless Internet. It is connected via high speed ADSL. Usage is unlimited and free of change. Guest AccessSituated on the edge of the CBD and within walking distance of both Fortitude Valley & West End. You will have your own self-contained bedsit with two queen size beds. Includes own laundry facilities and a nice little study. Park in the back yard and walk everywhere. Interaction with GuestsYour host will greet you on arrival and will be immediately contactable during your stay. The apartment have couple of rooms available located on 6 levels. Therefore you may have found that we have couple of listings under our management as we do have more than one unit in our building. Based on the principle “Stay longer pay less” we listed our property according to how long the guest is planning to stay, so that the best rate would appear respectively. For example: •Listing named “Sedgebrook Apartment-Min 1 night” means under this listing it has the requirement for minimum 1 night stay •Listing named “Sedgebrook Apartment-Min 7 nights” means under this listing it has the requirement for minimum 7 nights stay The price for minimum 7 nights is much lower than 1 night stay, we do provide this hierarchical price so that could offer lower rate to those who prefer to stay longer. Also every room has its own bathroom, full size kitchen (with all basic cooking utensils equipped), laundry facilities (With washing machine and dryer in your own unit, no need to sharing with other guest), air-conditioner, living room and so forth. Basic cooking utensils are also provided, so guest can actually cooking in the apartment. Regarding the accuracy part, as all the pictures uploaded are took from one of the unit, because we have over 15 units available, it is hard for us to listing all these units separately, hope you can understand, and we really do not want make any misunderstanding between us because of the pictures problem, if you need more pictures, our staff are more than happy to send you, or even can show you the room before you make the reservation if you are going to be in Brisbane when a booking enquiry is submitted. So we tried to upload some of pictures to show our guest what are main facilities in the unit and how it may looks like. Some of the furniture in the room you checked in may different from the picture showed, but what we can 100% guarantee is the room size, equipment settings are quite similar. No need to worry about the room will be much smaller than picture showed or the facility in each room is different, for instance, we said each room equipped with full size kitchen/private bathroom/balcony, then you will never be allocated to a room without kitchen/bathroom/balcony, what we described are all real situation, no dramas at all.
