The SpaceOur home fits with the Cairns life in that it's relaxed, easy-going and very welcoming. We actively embrace the Australian tropical lifestyle of rest, relaxation and taking it easy.
Cairns is a gorgeous please to visit, and this is an especially good this time of year as the warmth brings lots of friendly visitors to our city. The tropical fruit is *amazing* at this time of year; mangoes, bananas, pineapples, limes, papaya, soursop, achacha and mangosteen!
To say we are very fond of food is an understatement! We love to invite over friends for dinner parties, so if you share your dishes from home you will be very popular! We also love to talk about our Australian cuisine with our guests. From our conversations our guests have tried kangaroo, pavlova, ANZAC biscuits, meat pies, "The Lot" hamburgers and lots of other delicious Aussie food. We always have tropical fruit available for tasting.
Our home reflects our lifestyle values in that we love to cook, we prefer to eat fruit and vegetables that are grown at local farms or that which we grow ourself.
We are also super-keen for specialty coffee and are always sampling exotic brew roasts from around the world. We are barista competition judges and know the BEST coffee cafes in Cairns!
Our personal interests include photography, wildlife, food, coffee, technology and natural environment.
Our home is a "Queenslander", a heritage-style traditional home in a really beautiful suburb of Cairns.
You will have 2 guest bedrooms in our home, both with huge king-size beds, new fluffy pillows and with lots of privacy. 1 of the beds can be split into 2 king singles if you prefer.

We live upstairs, and your rooms are in their own self-contained house downstairs. Your space has its own separate bathroom, gourmet kitchen, dining area, outdoor patio and lounge room.
We supply locally-made toiletries in the bathroom like shampoo, conditioner, soap and toothpaste in case you forget to bring yours.
We also have big beach towels if you want to go to the Esplanade Lagoon, or if you're going out to the Great Barrier Reef.
You'll find lots of different varieties of palm trees and tropical flowers in our garden, as well as lots of herbs to cook with. The gardens and grounds around the house are common shares areas, so you will see us around the garden, doing our washing or playing with our dog.
Being wildlife lovers we adore that lots of Aussie birds call this area home and we see cockatoos, lorikeets and sunbirds everyday. Guest AccessYou will have a completely functional 2 bedroom apartment all to yourself. We live upstairs.

We are a self-employed couple and work quite long hours. We are rarely home during the day giving you a chance to chill out. We work just across the road though, so if you ever need anything we're easy to get hold of.
We've had a lot of experience with international guests, and very much love the cultural exchange from travellers. We warmly welcome guests still learning English. We are slow and patient with non-English speakers as we are learning Spanish and Japanese and understand how frustrating learning another language can be.
Also we are super keen to learn about cuisine from your country, and love sharing ours. We love cooking with our guests!
Our house is a big old wooden house so you will hear us upstairs from time to time. Some of the wooden floor boards have some squeak.
• About Our Friendliness •
As a host our interest in Airbnb is the cultural exchange! We are as interactive as you would like us to be. If you would like to be very talkative and tell us about your home we are very encouraging! Equally if you're here just for chillaxing, that's ok too.
We have a 'our home is your home' policy, and we always find people who stay with us leave as good friends.
If you're keen we'd love to share a dinner too, we love to cook Australian food and like sampling things from other countries.
• Tour Advice & Local Knowledge •
Having lived in Cairns for more than 20 years we have a very good idea of tours, so feel free to wait until you arrive before booking your Great Barrier Reef cruises or rainforest trips as we can help you with this. We keep lots of brochures here at home for you to have a look through to help you make a decision. The NeighborhoodOur neighbourhood is so convenient! The largest shopping mall in Cairns is across the road, the transport is on our doorstep and the city is really close.
There is a great cafe near by, a few interesting food places; awesome fish and chips, Thai & Nonya, South East Asian noodles, 2 Indian restaurants, pizza and even ice cream!
We also have a big movie theatre, a post office and major supermarkets at our front door.
There's a nice creek to check out, and lots of tropical plants in the area.
The place is pretty quiet, safe and relaxing. We love living here. Getting AroundCairns public transport is a bus service, and the major bus interchange is right across the road from our house. That means you can get to everywhere from our place, and there are lots of buses that go quite late.
The bus to the city is quick, just 15 minutes, and goes quite late into the night. Tickets are about $5/day for an unlimited pass. Other Things to NotePlease drop us a chatty message if you have any questions. We always reply very quickly - usually within 10 minutes (or 8 hours if we're sleeping).
We look forward to seeing you here.
