The SpaceOur cosy family home is a 2 minute walk from Fairfield train station, and a 12 min train ride to the best that Brisbane has to offer: South Bank, Street's Beach, the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) and the Queensland State museum. Central Brisbane city is 15 min away on the train. There's also a bus to downtown Brisbane and Fortitude Valley which leaves from near our house. The house is in a fairly quiet neighbourhood, but it's conveniently close to most of Brisbane's attractions. The house is a traditional 1940s Queenslander, which means that it is a wooden house up on stilts: there's a big space under the house for playing, laundry, and storage. It's got hardwood floors throughout, and traditional ornate wooden features. You can enjoy staying in an authentic subtropical Queenslander home. Our garden is small. We have 2 kids aged 8 and 3, so there are toys, books, bikes and beds to suit! The house suits 2 adults and up to 4 kids. We have wifi, TV, DVD player, ipod dock, air conditioning/heating, PS2 and a Wii you can use. It's a quiet neighbourhood, so the house best suits a quiet family with young kids. It is not suitable for events. We'd be most appreciative if you'd look after our very easy going cat while you're here. Guest AccessThe whole house is yours to relax in - I will be away. Getting AroundTrain station less than 1 minute walk away. Bus stop 5 minute's walk away.

The SpaceThank you for stopping by. My name is Julia. I have a spare room in my two bedroom apartment now that my daughter's working in Germany. So "willkommen" if you are coming from Germany. "Ich spreche ein wenig Desutch". I'm also trying to learn French so "Bienvenue" if you're from France. If you're an Aussie - then "Gidday". Wherever your home is, I would like you to feel welcome at my place. My very cute Maltese terrier, Beethoven, is a great companion who loves people. I mean he loves people!! I call him a love sponge. And he's very vocal. After one meeting you will be a beloved member of the pack and will be “treated” to very vocal greetings and demands for attention. If you choose to say with me you will have the best of all worlds - I am so close to the city but still in the suburbs - the Real Brisbane! And the heartiest of welcomes from wherever you come. I love where I live because the city, West End, South Bank, the Cultural Centre and the Brisbane Tennis Centre are all a short bus or train trip away. I am here to help you while you enjoy your time in our beautiful Brisbane. The apartment is on the ground floor in a small complex of five older style apartments which have been refurbished internally. My apartment has bi-fold doors which open out to a private courtyard. The room I have available while compact has many great features - ROOM BENEFITS: * Air conditioning/Heater - Split System * Lockable from the inside *Flat screen TV with DVD player *ipod docking station * Free WiFi (no illegal downloads please) * Fully Furnished - 1 x comfortable double bed with bedhead, bedside table and touch lamp, mirrored wardrobe, drawers, a 360 degree rotatable computer/dining table, chair, quality coat hangers * Quality Bedding (mattress protector, 1000 thread cotton sheets including a base sheet, top sheet, top cover, four pillows, pillow protectors, a spare cotton, summer blanket, winter blanket, throw pillows) *Quality white towels. HOUSE BENEFITS: * Fully Equipped and furnished * Cleaned Daily * Kitchen with cooking utensils and equipment * tea & coffee provided * Lounge with bonded leather couch and chaise lounge *Large flat screen TV *blue ray DVD player and range of DVDs to watch *A host that aims to make you feel at home You can have as much or as little interaction as you'd like. It's a small apartment though so it will be hard not to meet. I am keen to welcome people from all over the world and love to share experiences. Your room is very self-contained so you can retreat easily. I love Yeronga because it's close to so many Brisbane iconic attractions (University of Queensland, South Bank, the Cultural Centre, Art Gallery, Museum) by bus, rail or car and is close to the Brisbane river and parks. Yeronga is one of the oldest suburbs in Brisbane. It has the Brisbane Corso where you can take a walk by the river. It has Yeronga Memorial Park where you can picnic, play tennis, throw a few hoops or just enjoy the shade of the trees. Or maybe you want to swim or do water aerobics at Yeronga pool. I live in walking distance from these. It's close to shops, restaurants, the RSL club, local library, the supermarket, fast food outlets, post office and more. I've lived in the area for 17 years. I'm not moving any time soon. Public transport is a easy. There is a bus two doors down from my place which takes you to the Cultural centre and City. Or if you prefer the train, the station is a 10 minute walk away. There is also another city bus service within a 10 minute walk. Whilst there is no parking available on the property there is ample street parking. From the airport you can catch the airport train to Park Road station and I can arrange to pick you up. Guest AccessIn addition to your own room you have access to open plan kitchen and lounge room as well as the courtyard (check out the photos). And of course the bathroom which is all in one - toilet and shower over bath. A small but tastefully decorated space. Interaction with GuestsYou can have as much or as little interaction as you'd like. Keep in mind this is a small apartment so it would be hard not to meet. If you want some quiet time, there is the courtyard and of course your own private room which while small is very self-contained in terms of TV, internet and air conditioning. The NeighborhoodWhat's not to love about Yeronga - it's 7 kilometres for the city heart and close to the University of Queensland via the Green (Eleanor Schonell) Bridge as well as many of Brisbane's iconic attractions - just jump on a bus or a train and in less than 30 minutes you can be at South Bank, the Cultural Centre, the Art Gallery and the city. Yeronga is one of the oldest suburbs in Brisbane. And Yeronga Memorial Park is just up the road. You can throw a few hoops, have a game of tennis, watch the kids play at the playground or just wander through beautiful tree-lined Honour Avenue. Feel like walking by the Brisbane river - you can do this too. It's a nice stroll from my place. Want to meet a friend for coffee, go to an RSL or a good Thai restaurant - yes a short walk and you're there! Want to watch world class tennis? The Brisbane Tennis Centre host of the Brisbane International is 2 km away. Why Roger and Raffa probably passed by my door. Getting AroundThere is a bus (route 105) 2 doors down which will take you past South Bank, the Cultural Centre and into Brisbane city. This bus takes the scenic route and passes by the Brisbane river at the Brisbane Corso. The bus runs every hour after peak hour and takes about 35 minutes into the city. There is also a train station 10-15 minutes walk away. The train stops at South Bank and continues on to the city. The train takes 18 minutes from Yeronga to Central Station. Another very regular bus service 196 operates from our nearest shopping centre 10-15 minutes walk away. This bus runs every 15 minutes and takes 20 minutes to get to Southbank and another 5 minutes to get into the city. Best to buy a "go card" for public transport which costs $10 and is refundable. Without it you will be paying up 60% more for a paper ticket. Public transport is easy and I can show you where and how. You'll be a local in no time. Other Things to NoteThere is the possibility of using the washing machine and dryer for a negotiated fee to cover the cost of electricity. The fee will be cheaper than standard laundromat fees so please ask. You will need to provide your own washing powder. In summer months the spa may be available to use. A negotiated fee applies to cover the cost of electricity and chemicals.

The SpaceLovely bedroom with comfortable bed, mirrored wardrobe, ceiling fan and lots of natural light. You will have your own bathroom with shower over the bath. I'll supply sheets, towels, soap and toilet paper so you don't have to worry about any of that. I also have a range of pillows from soft to firm so hopefully there will be one (or more) that suits you. There's a kettle and some basic supplies in your room to help you settle in for the first few days - if you are like me you need a cup of tea to get you moving in the morning! There's an open plan living/dining/kitchen area that we will share as well as two balconies which catch the breezes off the river. You should be aware that I am on the second floor (hence the breezes) so there are some flights of stairs to climb with your cases when you arrive and leave. Guest AccessYou will have access to your own room and bathroom, the lounge room, dining room and two balconies. We can talk about finding some space in the fridge for you and using the kitchen for cooking (there are a few idiosyncracies in the kitchen that I will need to explain). I don't have a drier so you will only be able to use the washer if you are staying for a few days. There is air conditioning in the lounge area but none in the bedrooms. Except in the hottest weather the ceiling fan is usually enough and I have a heater which I provide for cold winter nights as well. Interaction with GuestsI am very happy to help you get acclimatised to the neighborhood and to Brisbane - just ask! The NeighborhoodSt Lucia is a quiet leafy neighbourhood yet very close to the city. This is such a convenient location with supermarket, takeaway and restaurants all within walking distance and just a short trip on the Citycat (no traffic) into the city and Southbank for so much more variety and choice. Getting AroundThere is plenty of public transport nearby with buses and Citycat on the doorstep and a short trip to Toowong train station. There is also a Citybike stand nearby and you can easily walk to UQ and to Toowong where the big supermarkets, telcos etc are. Other Things to NoteThere is limited parking at the back of the units but we will be able to work something out if you need space for a car - just let me know when you want to book. I have a quite elderly cat who likes to sit on the sofa in the lounge room. She is friendly but keeps pretty much to herself most of the time and if I didn't tell you she was there it's possible you wouldn't even notice! And of course, if you need something or have a question - just ask!

The SpaceAt a glance: - Downstairs area of the house - Large room - Private entry and separate key - Ensuite - Walk through wardrobe - Air-conditioned - Access to the kitchen upstairs - King bed - Mini Fridge and kettle in room - (Single mattresses for the floor for extra guests are available if requested) - $10 extra a night per guest after the first two guests (helps us cover the extra costs of bills and bathroom sharing, etc) - Ask for a discount on more than one night - Ask for a discount if you bring your dog :) - All the essentials provided: clean bedding, towels, general toiletries if needed, etc. We are three people, living in a large, two storey house, situated high upon a hill, looking for either one person, or a couple, to stay in the downstairs floor of our house, for one night to a couple of weeks. Pets are welcome, as we have two adorable Border Collie puppies ourselves. We are students - but we are the good type - the quiet type who (pretend) that we are studying all the time, and therefore don't party much or come stumbling home drunk late at night, banging on the door because we lost our keys... Your area is one large porcelain tiled room, with a walk-through wardrobe that leads to a modern ensuite bathroom with a toilet, vanity sink, and large shower. You have your own direct entry, making coming and going more private and convenient. You have four large windows in your room, which flood the area with light, and welcome a pleasant North-to-South breeze through. Your two front windows look over the tops of a hedged wall, out over St Lucia, with a view right through to Cunningham's Gap! Your room has it's own air conditioner as well, even though the breeze that comes through is more than enough to cool down the area. The property is fully fenced, so if you also have a well behaved dog, they can chill in our grass back yard with our dogs, and are welcome in your room, as it is a tiled area. Guest AccessUpstairs, there is a kitchen which you can come up and use anytime. Our kitchen is modern with stone counters. The kitchen also includes a dishwasher and induction stove top. Interaction with GuestsWe are pretty flexible with how much you want to interact with us. The space downstairs is separate from upstairs, but we tend to think we are nice enough people to come up and chat to if you want to! Feel free to come up and sit around the table and eat with us. We can also organise to cook you breakfast and dinner for an extra negotiated price, that's fair to cover costs, if you'd like to leave the hassle up to us! Languages spoken in the household include German and French. We are pretty fluent in Australian too. Also, we have cars, so we are happy to drop you off somewhere if it's on the way to wherever we are going, or even if you just want a lift down the road to Taringa Train Station. The NeighborhoodThe neighbourhood is close to everything, while still being quiet and safe. It's close to the city (10 minute drive), to the university (4 minute drive), and to shops. Getting AroundIf you are coming in by train, you need to get off at Taringa Train Station. Please organise with us in advance, and we should be able to come and pick up by car, otherwise, it's a 20 minutes walk if you don't have too much to carry! There is also a bus stop near our house, which services buses that come directly from the Brisbane CBD or university. It takes 30 minutes to get to the city, and 14 minutes to the university. Driving is even quicker, if you have a car, where the university is 4 minutes away, and the city is 10 - 15 minutes away. The house is close to Carmody Rd, which takes you directly to the university, and we are also a five minute walk to the Gailey Five Ways shops, including a cafe, fruit shop, butcher, and chemist. Regarding transport, the university is a 25 minute walk away, while there is alternatively a bus stop just round the corner with buses running every 10 minutes to the city or uni. The bus takes 14 min to uni, including the walking time to the bus stop. Other Things to NoteThis room is only on offer until the 8th of May.

The SpaceThe apartment is part of a small complex of 5, architect designed and built in 1985 (though it has a bit of a 70’s vibe to it). My favourite features of the apartment are the large wooden benches in the kitchen, the sloping ceilings that take advantage of the layout of the building, and the way every window looks out on to green space. I am filling the house with books and my art and craft projects – from crocheted cushions and blankets (adding to the 70’s vibe?) to paper mache masks and birds (there are a life size pelican and an almost life size paper mache emu in the corner of the hallway). Guest AccessAs well as their room and bathrooms, guests have access to the kitchen, living room, laundry (washing machine only, no dryer), and both the balcony and private courtyard off their room - which has a washing line. Tea and coffee are available, as well as unlimited wifi. I don’t own a television. Guests can also park a car in the driveway; it is not undercover, but is off the street. Interaction with GuestsGuests who are happy looking after themselves most of the time are ideal, because I'm pretty busy working on my thesis, but I'm very happy to give recommendations for restaurants and activities as well as directions. Everyone is welcome! The NeighborhoodSt Lucia is leafy and hilly, with fantastic city views from a number of vantage points, some great houses, and lots of parks. It is in a very safe area of Brisbane. Occasionally we get a bit of noise from student parties, especially at the beginning and end of the University year, but usually it is very quiet. Getting AroundThere are lots of public transport options in St Lucia! As well as walking, there are the 412 and other buses, the Citycat, and the train from Toowong. The number 412 bus stops almost at the bottom of the street, and runs very frequently. It’s about a 20 minute trip in to the CBD, sometimes longer at peak times, especially during University semesters. The Citycat is a lovely way to travel around Brisbane, and the Guyatt Park stop is 10 minutes walk from my house. If you catch the Citycat you won’t ever get stuck in traffic, and it is a great introduction to the city! Toowong Station on the Ipswich/Rosewood line is the closest train station to the house, a 5 minute trip on the 412 or 402 bus away. Taking the Airtrain from the airport and switching to the Ipswich/Rosewood line at Central or Roma St, then grabbing a cab from Toowong Station would be the easiest way to get to my place (mostly) on public transport (more detail on travelling from the airport once bookings are confirmed). The best way to use Brisbane's public transport is to use a 'Go-card', where you touch a card to the chip reader at the beginning and end of trips. Travel is cheaper for people using go-cards. I have two available for guests to borrow during their stay, with agreement to top them up before returning them. Other Things to NotePlease note, airport pick up is not available; I do not have a car or license.

The Space(Please see our other listings for this house for different rooms) Third Bedroom at a glance: - Top floor - Shared, clean bathroom, with spa bath - Ask for a discount if you bring your dog :) - All the essentials are provided: clean bedding, towels, general toiletries if needed, etc. - Let us know if there is something specific you'd need We are three housemates, living in a large, two storey house, situated high upon a hill, with spare rooms that we host out to AirBnB to help supplement our rent. Pets are welcome, as we have two adorable Border Collie puppies ourselves. We are students - but we are the good type who (pretend) that we are studying all the time, and therefore don't party much or come stumbling home drunk late at night, banging on the door because we lost our keys... But it's okay if you do. The house has solid wooden flooring throughout, and high-high ceilings. You would be sharing the upstairs bathroom with two other bedrooms, which is kept clean daily. It has a large shower and a spa bath to use. Your room has a double bed in it, and therefore the room can be shared by a couple. It's one of our smaller rooms in the house, and for this reason doesn't have a wardrobe to take up floor space. However, it doesn't feel small, because, the ceilings are high, and the large french doors let in a flood of light once opened. Once opened, another meter and a half of balcony space is added in front of the doors, giving the feeling of lots of room. The view from the balcony extends over the surrounding suburbs and out to Cunningham's Gap. The breeze that comes through is very welcoming. The property is fully fenced, so if you also have a well behaved dog, they can chill in our grass back yard with our dogs, and are welcome inside, as we have mainly hard flooring throughout the house. Guest AccessYou have access to our kitchen, bathroom, balcony, backyard, single car garage (small car), and washing machine. Our kitchen is modern, with a dishwasher, induction stove top, coffee machine, combination microwave, breadmaker, and is built with stone benches. Guests are welcome to a few basic things in our kitchen, including milk, tea, coffee, cereal, and bread. If you would like anything else, we can direct you to the nearest shops, and show you to your cupboard space in the kitchen. Our upstairs bathroom is spacious, kept clean, and is with a spa bath included. Our back yard is a fully fenced, with grass: pet friendly (we love dogs - we will even give you a discount if you bring your beloved dog with you to play with our puppies.) Interaction with GuestsWe are pretty flexible with how much you want to interact with us. We tend to think we are nice enough people to chat to if you want to! Please organise with us in advance, and we should be able to come and pick you up by car, otherwise, it's a 20 minutes walk if you don't have too much to carry! There is also a bus stop near our house, which services buses that come directly from the Brisbane CBD or university. It takes 30 minutes to get to the city, and 14 minutes to the university. Driving is even quicker; if you have a car, the university is 4 minutes away, and the city is 10 - 15 minutes away. The house is close to Carmody Rd, which takes you directly to the university, and we are also a five minute walk to the Gailey Five Ways shops, including a cafe, convenience shop, ATM, fruit shop, butcher, cake shop, florist, and chemist. Regarding transport, the university is a 25 minute walk away, while there is alternatively a bus stop just round the corner with buses running every 10 minutes to the city or uni. The bus takes 14 min to uni, including the walking time to the bus stop.

An Information Folder will be available for your convenience and will provide details to orient you to neighbourhood as well as surrounding areas. I travel frequently and appreciate the challenges of being away from familiar environments. I enjoy people and will interact as often or as seldom as necessary according to your needs and interests to make your stay comfortable. While I have regular commitments I will always be available should there be a need for contact. The NeighborhoodI live on the edge of The University of Queensland campus - a pleasant 10 minute walk to the centre of the campus which gives access to many facilities including expansive landscaped gardens, tennis courts, swimming pool, gym, art gallery, movie theatre as well as walking and cycling tracks.
