Having as much, or, as little contact with the unobtrusive but helpful owners who live separately. Yvonne and Trevor would of course be happy to provide information and services as requested. Hear only the serene sound of lapping water and birdsong as you sip your wine listening to your favourite music. On the other hand, we can be easily accessed for information, help and for conversations... yes we love meeting new people from all over the world and will 'have a chat' - if we are invited. The NeighborhoodMacleay Island is one of four in the Southern Moreton Bay Islands Marine Park, located only 15 minutes by fast public transport ferries from Redland Bay, which is only a 45 minute car ride into Brisbane. Redland Bay is well served by public transport buses to Brisbane and surrounding suburbs. These islands are almost a trip back in time to 'the way things were'! They are undeveloped, unsophisticated, and unspoiled. This is a mainly natural bush environment with most attractive beach homes around the coast line and unpretentious cottages/homes/weekenders in the bushy interior. Many of the roads are unsealed and not lit at night. The star lit Milky Way is unbelievably bright at night! And, oh the Moon rising and Sunsets over the bay are fantastic! Macleay Island Holiday Home is situated on a private East Coast acreage beachfront looking out to North Stradbroke Island. It is so quiet and peaceful but for the birdlife which is wonderful - over 250 species of native birds! In Perulpa Bay which we overlook are many species of marine life, including dolphin, dugong, turtle, stingray, mud crab, sand crabs, and good eating fish for those who yearn to toss in a line.( Perulpa Bay is a sea grass feeding ground for the shy and endangered Dugong). No license is required to fish here. Macleay Island has a population of around 2 500 people, is 6.5kms long and only 1km wide. It is hilly in some parts but can easily be traversed by bicycles. The Western side of the Island is extremely hot in Summer whereas those seeking a gentle cooling sea breeze for relief from Brisbane's heat, love our Eastern aspect. There are two Supermarkets, a Chemist, Dentist, Doctors, a 'basic' Pub and importantly excellent Lawn Bowls and 9 hole golf clubs, Boat clubs, Art and Potters clubs and Art Gallery, several real Estate offices, Hardware, garden and boating supplies, Pizza and Fish Takeaways and The Blue Parrot Cafe. People of Macleay are very friendly and welcome visitors. Dress is mainly informal, however smarter clothing is required to enter the Clubs for Bistro dining. Getting AroundThere are Taxis and shuttle buses operating from Brisbane Airport or the city to Redland Bay and bookable through us or directly by emailing; (EMAIL HIDDEN) The cost for two people in a Limousine or private meet and greet bus service is approximately $99.00 for two. We can also arrange Meet and Greet Transfers for groups or parties with large luggage, using Bay-Air Airport and Cruise Terminal transfers and Shuttle Bus. Their premium service costs AU$99.00 for two people and $15. each extra passenger payable in cash to the driver. To book we would require flight/shipping details, or, we can provide their email address so guests can book directly with Bay-Air. The only transport available on Macleay Island is Taxi hire. However we provide free bicycles for guests. Sometimes the local car yard rents cheap, older model cars to visitors. Inter-island transport on the Ferries is free and our guests are welcome to take our bikes to explore the other Islands. Getting to and fro the Bowls and Golf Clubs is with the compliments of those clubs' courtesy buses . Yvonne provides maps for suggested walking and cycle routes to explore the islands. Other Things to NoteMacleay Island Holiday Home is where visitors come to relax, unwind, reconnect with each other, to recover from a long flight etc.to study and to read. They love the tranquility and birdlife. On this Eastern side of the Island we experience cooling South Easterly breezes in Summer - keeps away the 'mozzies' and thankfully much relief from the searing heat of the West Coast's and Brisbane's afternoons. We are also sheltered from the South Westerly winds prevailing from July through to September. Being set on Perulpa Bay guests enjoy sheltered waters to canoe, fish and swim. Yachties use this bay to shelter from storms. We are a home away from home with most of the facilities of a good resort - without the noise! No constant jet ski noise and no traffic thankfully. This is a magical stay during Winter months - so serene, such clear skies, no annoying insects, fabulous mild and warm days and cuddly-cool nights!

Two beautiful beaches are only minutes away, perfect for swimming at high tide or exploring at low. Straddie, as the locals call it, is a relaxing fishing and beach destination, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. We can arrange personalised boating expeditions for your stay. We are open to sharing a glass of wine and nibbles on our deck, or a dinner under the stars. We do have a young son (born in September 2014). He sleeps well through the night, but he wakes up bright and early! The NeighborhoodDunwich is a working class town situated on the bay side of North Stradbroke Island. The barge and water taxis all dock in Dunwich. It is a short 20 minute trip by bus or car to nearby Point Lookout and Amity Point, on the ocean side of the island, where you can enjoy surf beaches and an array of dining options. Dunwich itself has quiet bayside beaches, perfect for exploring at low tide or swimming at high tide. Attractions in Dunwich include native wildlife (kangaroos and koalas can be seen along the shoreline and in parks), a museum with an extensive exhibit on Straddie's interesting historical past, and an indigenous art gallery, with lovely locally-made art for sale. Dunwich is a great place to take in the evening sunset from the water's edge over a cool drink. Getting AroundFor complete freedom, email us and ask about including a car in your booking. Alternatively, we are conveniently located a short walk from the ferry terminals and also a public bus stop. Other Things to NotePlease note that the last passenger ferry to the island leaves Cleveland at 7:25 PM, so make sure you can get to Cleveland prior to that. If you are coming by public transport, the free bus service from the train station does not meet the last ferry of the day. Check the Stradbroke Ferries website for both passenger and vehicle ferry timetables, or the Stradbroke Flyer website for passenger ferries only.

This holiday home was architecturally designed to capture the magnificent water views across Moreton Bay, to the mainland and hinterland beyond. Fourteen metres of floor-to-ceiling glass, slides open and ensures you enjoy spectacular sunsets from the living and dining rooms.. perhaps while sipping a chilled champagne or enjoying a glass of cold beer. Louvre windows and overhead ceiling fans allow for the cooling island breezes to circulate and flow throughout the open-plan house. Upstairs, the master suite is an open-plan bedroom and ensuite area, encouraging "time out" for adults. The bed faces the waters of Moreton Bay, so why not laze in bed or read the Sunday papers while soaking up the wonderful view. Once again, floor to ceiling glass opens from the bedroom onto your own private deck - have breakfast or coffee there, while your friends or family use the one downstairs. RELAX AND UNWIND: The second bedroom downstairs has a queen size bed and also enjoys the same spectacular view as the living area. Large glass doors slide back and open onto the shaded deck - why not borrow one of our many books, lay back and relax on your deck chair, or even settle for an afternoon snooze. Preparing lunch or dinner has taken on new meaning..... enjoy the expansive view from the kitchen and utilize the stainless steel appliances. BBQ on the deck, and when the sun sets over the bay, the night lights of Redland Bay sparkle to illuminate the mainland across the water.. quite a spectacular sight. No loud traffic noises to interrupt your peace and quiet... only kookaburras, rosellas and sea eagles gliding along searching for their evening meal. FOR ACTIVE PEOPLE: For those wanting a little more activity, Macleay Island has a public golf course, a bowls club and some quiet sandy beaches to explore. For the fisherman, throw in a line at one of many local beaches or fishing spots. Why not "Island Hop" - grab your backpack, water bottle, some lunch and jump onto one of the local ferries to explore the other Southern Moreton Bay Islands of Lamb, Russell and Karagarra - ferries leave each of the local jetties, on a regular basis. Guests who enjoy bike riding, have borrowed the Mountain Bikes & helmets, also taking them to the islands - they can get a little exercise and explore further afield at the same time. The Island is approximately 6km long and 4km wide and has a population exceeding 2000. There is a primary school, 2 small local supermarkets, service station, library and community centre, local taxi service and a network of smaller shops including a few cafes. The bowls & golf clubs club (with great bistros), boat club and local hotel, provide focal points for both residents and visitors alike. Sunset Waters has its own mooring, offering guests a place to tie up their boats securely, after a day fishing or exploring Moreton Bay

Their is a small Kiosk for emergency goods. However, we are blessed by having an excellent restaurant 'Red Rock Cafe' owned by Michael & Coleen Morgan. It is well patronised by the locals. Take an early morning stroll along deserted sandy beaches which surround ¾ of the island. If you are a golfer or would like to learn there is a 9 hole golf course which welcomes new comers and has regular lessons and social events. Join Coastare volunteers weeding and undertaking restoration work around the island followed by either a BBQ or morning or afternoon tea. Check out their (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) page Coochiemudlo Island Coastcare. The Recrestionsl area in the centre of the island has tennis courts, cricket pitch, croquet and playground. There is fishing and many water sports. Ask about paddling with the outriggers. Interaction with GuestsAs often or as little as you desire. The NeighborhoodVisiting Coochiemudlo Island is like stepping back in time. When off shore the Island looks deserted because it is protected by the conservation area know locally as the 'Emerald Fringe'. The sandy bush beaches cover two thirds around the Island and the other third is covered by Mangroves. Guided walks and talks can be organised. It is difficult to find two houses the same and owners take pride in their individual gardens. These are refreshing changes from the mainland. It is well said by most that once you leave the mainland all your daily pressures slip away. There are no shops as such on the Island. Shop on the mainland before you come. Their is a small Kiosk for emergency goods. However, we are blessed by having an excellent restaurant 'Red Rock Cafe' owned by Michael & Coleen Morgan. It is well patronised by the locals. The Island has a very active Coastcare and Bushcare groups. They meet once a month and tending various environmental jobs on the island. Visitors are welcome to join in and often their is a BBQ or morning or afternoon tea at the end of a couple of hours weeding or dune caring. Check out the Community notice board at the end of the Jetty or contact myself. Restoration tourism is the way to go. The SpaceYarrandabbi Dreaming B&B Retreat is more a small, beachfront Five Star Eco Resort, perfect for a romantic getaway, or, for friends and family planning a relaxing escape. We offer beautiful accommodation, resort facilities and friendly service! We have won the Redlands "Best Hosted Accommodation" Tourism Award and the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence 2013, 2014 and their 'Greenleaders Gold Award in 2015 and 2016. This keeps us on our toes to ensure that our guests have an absolutely wonderful and relaxing time and remember the tranquility into the future. Located on peaceful and secluded Secret Beach, on Macleay Island, within an hour's drive & Ferry ride from Brisbane; looking towards North Stradbroke, we are set in an acre of native gardens. Hear only the serene sound of lapping water and birdsong as you sip your wine listening to your favourite music. Most of our guests are couples and friends celebrating special events, birthdays and anniversaries. Others come to just 'chill out', relax and reconnect with each other and our natural environment. Escaping the housework and children with 'Girls Weekends Away' and being spoiled, or to experience an 'unpretentious' Australia of yesteryear, are popular reasons to stay at Yarrandabbi. Enjoy all we offer; the spas, the best beds and generous breakfasts. Our lovely bedroom suites are tastefully decorated with fine bedroom furniture, bed linen and deluxe mattresses. Two suites have Queen beds and one is either a King bed or 2 separate King singles. Each room is provided with large digital TV/DVD/CD players, luxury ensuite spa bathrooms and floor to ceiling sliding glass doors and bay views. All guests' rooms have private entrances and patios with outdoor furniture. All guests' areas are fully reverse cycle air-conditioned with individual controls for guests to select. The bathroom ensuites are superbly appointed, spacious and equipped with double cornered, heated spas. The ensuites are also provided with quality personal toiletries, luxurious bath towels, robes and hairdryer. On weekends, a la carte breakfasts at Yarrandabbi Dreaming are to be relished and remembered. Served on the guests' Dining Deck overlooking the pool and Moreton Bay, these scrumptious breakfasts are a gourmet affair. We use the best from our own organic gardens and from local producers. Weekday mornings generous cooked breakfasts are served in the Guest's own lounge dining area, or, on the Guests' deck overlooking the Bay. A spacious open plan guests' lounge, kitchenette with a six-seater dining table and chairs are also provided for guests' own use. The "Sundowner Bar" bar stocks a pleasant selection of wines at reasonable prices, or, you may BYO. We are a licensed B&B. To eat out, the island offers a Bowls and Golf Clubs, both with Bistro restaurants. Both offer courtesy transport. There are also a rustic Pub and takeaway options and a good Cafe just around the corner. Our local Fish Eatery also within 300 metres supplies great fresh fish, oysters and crabs from the bay. We will be pleased to set tables for your 'takeaway' dinners on the dining deck, adjacent to the "Sundowner Bar" - a romantic atmosphere with music of your choice and candlelight! Our Guests' own BBQ & deck overlooks the pool. By prior arrangement we can provide you with utensils, crockery and oil. Yarrandabbi Dreaming is also an idyllic setting for small weddings and renewal of vows (up to 30 people) on our beachfront, or in our gardens. We will be pleased to assist with planning your special happy day! Please note: We are a NON-SMOKING property. Guest AccessGenerous breakfasts are included! The whole property is available for guests use. Our beachfront is shared only with 3 (acreage) neighbours - all friendly and welcoming. Interaction with GuestsTrevor and Yvonne love meeting people and welcoming guests from all walks of life and from all over the world. We are friendly and sociable people and will readily converse and mingle with guests if they wish. We are thoughtful and considerate too and do not intrude unless invited. Mind you, Trevor and Yvonne both have a wicked sense of humour if you choose to find out, over our evening glass of wine at the "Sundowner Bar". Our long hospitality industry background - Trevor is a Manufacturing Engineer turned Chef, and Yvonne 30 years in the airline industry and teaching/training travel agents, has earned us skills to ensure that our guests always come first. The NeighborhoodEating out venues on Macleay Island are mainly centred on Bistro dining at Club Macleay (the Bowls Club), and modest meals at the Golf Club, both operating Wednesdays to Sundays and both offer courtesy transport to and from. There is a good Cafe / Fish eatery, just 300 metres around the corner. The latter may also supply fresh fish, oysters and crabs from the local fishermen, in season. There are several takeaway options, the Pizza shop which also delivers, and a good Bakery a 15 minute walk away. There are two Supermarkets on Macleay Island and medical, dental and hairdressing/beauty therapy services, Chemist etc, as there would be in any small town of around 2300 people. However there are very few shops of interest to an avid shopper. No, you would not come here to shop. These islands are as small communities would have been 30 years ago perhaps. This is their charm... the friendliness and welcoming attitudes of our population often amaze our guests. It is also very very safe. The world's problems seem not to have touched our forgotten islands - you could be a thousand miles away from civilization, but, you are not! 15 minutes on a fast passenger ferry service gets you back to the Mainland at Redland Bay - back to reality, noise, traffic and rush... Getting AroundProvided it is not too hot, nor too wet, you may like just pefer to explore Macleay Island, and the surrounding islands on our complimentary bikes. Passenger Ferry transportation between the islands is free. There is no public transport on our 6.5km long Island. We recommend a vehicle for getting about if you come for 3 or more days. You could hire a 'basic' car from the local car dealer for a very modest price if arranged in advance. Our 3 person Canadian Canoe is also free for our guests use to explore our sheltered Perulpa Bay. You will always see many species of turtle and fish here and probably dugong feeding on the sea grass bottom, although they are very shy creatures. Dolphin, Pelican and many sea birds frequent the bay also. We supply life jackets and the compulsory helmets for cycling. Bay Islands Ferries offer free transport for people and their bikes travelling between our four islands, so guests frequently take our bikes to explore the other islands. The islands are only a few minutes away from each other. Most people enjoy the many walking, or, cycling routes which Yvonne recommends. A good idea is to take a 35 minute meander/ beach walk up to the Arts Gallery and workshop near Club Macleay, drop in there for a meal and refreshment and take their courtesy bus back to Yarrandabbi. Other Things to NoteWinters here extend from the end of May to the end of August when the weather is perfect!! An absolutely beautiful time of the year to come to South East Queensland. It is not too hot - maximum of 26 degrees Celsius and a minimum overnight of 8 degrees. The days then are clear and always sunny and warm. Then, the nights are star spangled and somewhat chilly. Our islands in the sun have never had ice nor frosts. Summer weather arrives suddenly, sometimes as early as October and extends to the end of March. This is our wet season and January through to March can be really hot and humid. Thank goodness we have the pool and air conditioning where guests seek relief. A light waterproof jacket or umbrella is handy in Queensland during summer. Sunhats are essential, even in winter, particularly if you want to play golf, on the nearby course, take out our canoe, or fish off the beach. As anywhere in the tropics, or even along the whole Australian coastline, when there is humidity there are annoying insects - no malaria thank goodness! But, do bring protection against sunburn and insects then.

I have had a home on Coochiemudlo Island for over 40 years. The island with its natural beauty is truly one of the best kept secrets in SE Queensland. Near by Redland Bay was the home of my grandparents who fished in the bay with hand made nets and sold their daily catch to local residents. Whilst I have also spent many years living and working abroad I have always called Coochie home. Near by Brisbane was my birth place. My husband is Scottish and we also maintain a home in Scotland which we visit often. Gardening is our passion and we have an extensive Australian Native garden with an Amphitheatre and billabong on Coochiemudlo Island which we make available for others to use. In Scotland our garden has over 170 roses and other cold climate plants. We look forward to welcoming you to Coochiemudlo Island.

Holiday house to rent on Karragarra Island which is on beautiful Moreton Bay " Karra " as the locals call it has one of the nicest sandy beaches on the Southern Moreton Bay Islands . For the travellers flying in there is a shuttle bus from the airport that will drop you at the ferry terminal Karragarra has a free sheltered bbq area and swimming enclosure and is a great place to watch the sun go down with a wine in hand . The passenger ferries run approximately. every half hour from 4.30 am to midnight from Redland Bay. The car ferries also run from Redland Bay every hour from 5.30am to 6.30pm which is an experience in itself . There are no traffic lights , roundabouts not even a stop sign on Karra . You are on a peaceful island where you will have to get used to the people saying " Hi " or a welcoming nod of the head as you pass by . The passenger ferries offer free inter island travel to Macleay , Lamb and Russell Islands so there is plenty to explore . If you want a meal at a restaurant or club , just a matter of jumping on the free ferry . Most of the clubs offer a free courtesy bus and will pick you up and drop you off at the ferry terminal at your leisure . If you like to dabble at golf you can take the bikes across to Macleay island and ride to the coarse or they have a courtesy bus which will pick you up from the ferry terminal. They also hire golf clubs for Free and it is $10 for 9 holes . They also have meals and beer . ( that's a winner ). Pets are welcome but if you want to travel on the passenger ferry inter island they will have to have a lead and muzzles or they will not let you on . You will find an information sheet with all relevant phone numbers ferry times etc. at the house . Macleay and Russell have a supermarket and shops so if there is anything you need it is 3 minutes to Macleay and 15 minutes to the larger island Russell. The house is at the eastern end of the island where you can sit on the front verandah and watch the ferries go by or just listen to the sounds of the abundant bird life . If you like mudcrabs you can put your pots out in front of the house or anywhere you choose . If you bring a boat just be careful of where the green zones are located . A boat brings a whole new world to explore with places like Peel Island , Blakeleys and Jumpinpin being favourites . There are 2 pushbikes at the house with helmets . These you can put on the passenger ferry to make it easier to explore other Islands . There are also 2 kayaks and safety jackets for you to explore the coastal areas near the house . You can catch squire , bream , flathead and jewfish on many places on the Bay . Crabbing is all year round and the crabs are very prolific . Just remember the males are the only ones you can keep of legal size . If you are after peace and quiet doing as much or little as you want it would be hard to find a better place so close to the water . The house is not suitable for toddlers under 5 years as although legal in Qld. there is no handrail on the front verandah as it is less than a metre high and we like the unobstructed view. The house rents for $650 per week or $125 per night ( minimum 2 nights ) . Linen and towels are supplied . You will have a great holiday Cheers Kevin and Tina
