The SpaceCouples or Families:
At Cuan na Mara you can have your own bedroom with queen sized bed and wardrobe space. If you have one or two children they would probably be very happy on the single beds in the sunroom.
We limit the number of visitors to four (including any children) which ensures a comfortable stay for everyone.
Single people are also welcome to book the main guest bedroom.
Or, if you're just passing through maybe you'd be just as happy to bunk down on a single bed in the sunroom for a night or two and have a piece of toast and a cuppa for breakfast. If you send an enquiry email we can come to a happy arrangement.
The lounge, kitchen, bathroom, toilet, patio, outdoor barbecue area and the garden are all shared spaces. Guest AccessWe hope you will feel welcome and make our home your home. Interaction with GuestsYou'll be sharing the space with me, Fran. I retreat to Cuan na Mara to write and enjoy the environment, and while I respect guests' need for privacy, apart from your big bedroom, all other parts of the home are shared spaces.
On occasions Trevor will be there too. That is probably the best time to visit because he is a very good cook!
We are passionate about the area and will always be available to share local information if that's what you're after. The NeighborhoodCarrickalinga on the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula is about an hour’s drive south of Adelaide, the city of Churches and capital of South Australia. The peninsula’s Mediterranean climate, stunning natural environment, fine wines and exciting food is a visitor’s paradise. Carrickalinga is one of the quiet seaside villages which offers a relaxed and beach-orientated lifestyle….swimming, walking, reading, lazing in the sun, watching the dolphins frolicking, catching sight of a migrating whale, paddling your board across the bay. You know the sort of things we mean! And the beach is about a three minute walk from our home.
If you get bored with kicking back at home or on the wide white sandy beach, you can find many other activities within a short distance of Cuan na Mara … diving or snorkelling at Second Bay; wine tasting in McLaren Vale, one of South Australia’s premier wine regions; whale watching in Victor Harbor in Winter; bush-walking at Deep Creek Conservation Park; visiting Kangaroo Island on the ferry which leaves from Cape Jervis.
In Carrickalinga, Normanville and Yankalilla, your local neighbourhood, you’ll find art galleries, cafes, restaurants, wineries, bakeries, and, of course, fantastic beaches. And, if you are an op shopper, you'll be delighted by all the shops in Yankalilla and one in Normanville.
Stock up on fresh local produce at the Adelaide Central Markets on your way through. Adelaide hosts the Tour Down Under in January, the Adelaide Fringe Festival, Adelaide Festival including Writer’s Week, and Womadelaide, and Clipsal in February/March. Getting AroundA car is essential if you want to explore the area. It is a picturesque two km walk/drive/ride into Normanville where there is a supermarket, a bakery, cafes, restaurants, a hairdresser etc. There is off street parking at our home.
If you just wanted to relax completely and stay around the immediate Carrick area for a weekend, there is a Sealink Coach from Adelaide which will drop you in Normanville about 5:00 pm each afternoon and a return coach at 10:00 am each morning. Other Things to NoteFree WiFi:
Fleurieu Coast free WiFi is available in NormanvilIe and Yankalilla.
If it's a completely private getaway you're after, this is not the place for you.
