The SpaceThe lotus eater is your very own balinese style bungalow, nestled in a quiet tropical garden setting. Peace and privacy yet only minutes from the Adelaide c.b.d. and all amenities. Brand new aircon has been installed in August 2016 The bungalow is fully self contained and detached, located in the tropical garden behind the owners home in the historic inner city suburb of Parkside, with it's lovely old Adelaide stone architecture. The suburb of Parkside is located on the edge of the Adelaide parklands and so is only a stones throw from the city but without the noise or congestion of the C.B.D but with all amenities close by, including a great cafe strip 2 minutes walk around the corner. You can come and go as you please as you have your own private space and keys for the property. Lots of cafes and restaurants to cater for all tastes just around the corner and a couple minutes away from public transport. The bungalow is furnished with authentic indonesian furniture and artworks gathered by the owner over the years, so the decor is not your average bland motel or hotel. You have two private outdoor living areas, a front verandah with furniture for lounging on to enjoy the garden views and just relax. Also your have your own courtyard with outdoor dining setting to enjoy alfresco living and dining. Fully equipped kitchen with washing machine. Walk across the parklands to the cbd in about 15 minutes or catch the bus just around the corner. Jump on a tram to glenelg beach. Adelaide hills only a 15 minute drive away. Unley Rd cafes and shops just around the corner. Wake up to the sound of birds instead of traffic noise or slamming doors. This is the place to stay if you want to be close to all the action but want peace and privacy. An extra person/child can be accommodated on a foam mattress in the living space if required. Minimum stay periods may apply unless there are small gaps between other bookings. Please send me a message or enquiry before putting in a formal booking request as this makes the process easier. Long stay discounts may apply so please send me an enquiry. During the christmas and festival season a minimum stay may apply unless there are small gaps between other bookings. I Guest AccessGuests have private access to the whole bungalow including 2 out door areas, there is no sharing of facilities at all. The cottage is accessed via the driveway of the main house. Interaction with GuestsI respect guests privacy but am always available for any help or information that may be needed. I usually will call after check in to make sure everything is ok. The NeighborhoodI love my neighborhood of Parkside as it is full of character (lovely old stone homes) and is very close to the CBD but very quiet as well. Their are great cafes along Unley and King Willam roads and also really good shopping. You can walk to the city if you wish or jump on a bus or tram. Adelaide oval is just a quick bus or tram ride away if you are coming for the cricket or footy. Getting AroundThere are public buses around the corner and the tram is also close by. Its an easy walk to shopping, cafes and practically everything else you might want. Free bikes are available from bike SA venues that are close by. I have an on street parking permit available for a $50 refundable deposit if you will have a car, please let me know in advance if you require this. Other Things to NoteOn street parking permit available with prior notice and a $50 refundable deposit. Please let me know if you require this on booking.

This house is peaceful, warm and inviting, a home away from home, to relax and unwind after a busy day sight-seeing. The house is located in a gated community, so it is very safe and secure. But also located only 10 minutes from the Adelaide City Centre. There is a bus stop right outside the front which can take you straight into the City, so it is very easily accessibly. The Guest Bedroom fits 2 people comfortably. The bedroom has a private door access from the courtyard. The bedroom also opens up to a private courtyard garden. There is a separate laundry available with a washer and dryer, iron and ironing board for your use. Parking is also included for your convenience. Adelaide is a city best known for it’s Arts and Music Festivals. Festival Season begins in mid February and runs through until end of March. This is considered ‘high season’. The location of my home is only 10 minutes drive from the heart of the Festivals and event locations. I highly recommend visiting Adelaide in the Australian summer – January – March and to come and visit for the Festivals which include – The Fringe festival, The Adelaide Festival of Arts, the Womadelaide Festival, The Clipsal 500 car race, and the Tour Down Under in mid January. All of these major events showcase the best Adelaide has to offer. Guest AccessThere is private access through a side gate from the Courtyard to the Guest Bedroom, however the front door access is most commonly used. Interaction with GuestsIt varies from guest to guest. I am a friendly, welcoming person who enjoys the company of others and making conversation, but I am also happy to give you space if that is what you choose. Either way I am respectful of my guests. The NeighborhoodIt is only a short 5 minute walk to a fantastic fresh food grocery store and lovely café which is great for breakfast, lunch and now dinner. You can buy fresh fruit and vegetables, many different cheeses, pasta, freshly baked bread, frozen food, pastas, chicken, meat, eggs, fruit juices, spices and many different coffees and chocolates. It is a fantastic addition to our area and is always busy on the weekends when people go out for brunches. Getting AroundThere is a bus stop just outside the gate, making it easy to get around Adelaide. The Bus Stop is number 16 and it also drops you directly opposite the gate of the complex. It couldn't be more easy. Other Things to NoteIntercom access through security gate. WIFI available.

The SpaceThis modern granny flat, 'Peppercorn Place' has its own private entrance to 5 rooms that are all exclusively yours-so you will have your very own lounge/dining room, bedroom, bathroom, separate toilet and a laundry/kitchenette. (with washing machine, iron, ironing board, fridge, 2 burner hotplate, microwave oven, kettle, toaster, sandwich press, cutlery, crockery etc.) Laundry powder and dish-washing liquid are provided as well as milk, tea and plunger coffee. Although I don't provide breakfast, I will leave you a loaf of bread, plenty of condiments, a bowl of fruit and some Haighs chocolates to get you started! The bedroom has a queen sized bed with electric blanket, dressing table, wardrobe and bedside chests. The granny flat itself was built onto the 1880s blue-stone cottage only 4 years ago with an emphasis on sustainability- featuring double glazed windows, ducted evaporative air-conditioning, solar hot water, (gas boosted) rain water plumbed to all taps and a toilet which has surprisingly become quite a talking point with its integrated hand basin!! (there is a basin on top of the cistern and you wash your hands in the water that flows through a tap and into the basin, then into the cistern for the next flush- see photo!) Although the flat is very well insulated, I have installed a heater in the lounge/dining room for your comfort, if required. I also provide towels, shampoo, conditioner and a hair dryer in the bathroom and there is plenty of storage space for your own items if you wish. Guest AccessAlthough the flat is attached to the main house, it is a separate and locked-off wing; completely self contained and has separate access. Guests also have their own access to the deck and large back garden from the flat, which you are most welcome to enjoy. I have many fruit trees and a veggie garden and am happy to share any excess I might have with you! Interaction with GuestsI am happy to be as helpful or as discreet as guests require. I want you to be able to relax and enjoy your stay in whatever way you like! I love to meet new people and will warmly welcome you but will respect whatever level of privacy you need to be comfortable during your stay. The NeighborhoodUnley is a beautiful, safe, leafy suburb with many local parks. Within a 2-3 minute walk from the house is a group of shops including a Thai restaurant, a chicken/chip shop that also sells an extensive range of great salads and a Melbourne style "deli" which is very popular for hearty breakfasts, lunches and great coffee! All 3 establishments have vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. .A little further down the road is a pizza and pasta restaurant. If you share my love of Op Shops, there are 3 within walking distance! There is plenty of parking on the street outside the house if required. A ten minute walk will take you to the local library, memorial gardens and a vibrant shopping district including major supermarkets and restaurants. The house is situated very close to a walking trail that has been established with native plants and information boards- great for visitors from overseas to become acquainted with some of Adelaide's natural beauty. Getting AroundIt is a 2 minute walk to a bus stop which will get you into the city in approximately 15-20 minutes. It is a 10 minute walk to buses that can take you to the popular seaside suburb of Glenelg or to Port Adelaide- another popular historic tourist destination. If you have a car, it is a 10-15 minute drive into the city. The airport is approximately 10 kms away. A taxi to the Granny Flat will cost $25- $30 but there is a regular bus service into the city from the airport that I can provide information about, if required. Other Things to NoteFree Wi-Fi available. Also provided are miscellaneous items such as an umbrella, basic kitchen condiments including salt, pepper, tomato sauce and mixed herbs, extra towels to take to the beach if required and reusable shopping bags for any trips to the supermarket. There are no carpeted rooms- great for anyone with dust mite allergies or asthma. I have two lovely cats and both are friendly, so feel free to give them lots of attention out on the deck or in the back garden- they will love you for it! (I keep them in my section of the house at night.)

It's ideally located for visitors who are here for the many summer events and festivals held in Adelaide. Lonely Planet has listed Adelaide in the Top 10 Cities to visit in 2014. They say; "While Melbourne and Sydney have competed for attention, Adelaide has transformed itself into the perfect host city. It has accumulated some of Australia’s most popular sporting and arts events, including the cultural tour de force of the Adelaide Festival, the Adelaide Fringe Festival and WOMADelaide. The year 2014 beckons big changes for the city’s heart, with the completion of the multimillion-dollar refurbishment of the Adelaide Oval, which will link central Adelaide with the Oval and its beautiful surrounding parklands, and historic North Adelaide further on. A gateway to some of Australia’s most accessible wine country, Adelaide is effortlessly chic – and like a perfectly cellared red, it’s ready to be uncorked and sampled." I live next door so I'm available to provide information or advice about what to do in Adelaide or to respond to any concerns you have. Otherwise, you won't see much of me.
