The SpaceOur self contained studio is positioned in Adelaide Hills, 20 min walk to the main strip of the village and a bus, about 15 min drive to the City via freeway. It is a beautiful part of Adelaide and somewhat away from the hustle and bustle of the City but only minutes away from it by car. We work and go to school "down the hill" but prefer to live here because it is away from concrete and high rise. The studio is only 20 meters away from the main building, where we live, but you are totally independent. There is a kitchen and dine, shower and laundry, bedroom and sitting available.I have installed the stain glass doors ( my creation) which I have saved from the house where we lived 25 years ago. Our big garden is a challenge, but we love it. We constantly upgrade and develop the grounds to make our home sustainable, practical and beautiful. We have chooks and a young farm dog called Charlie. It is not a B&B accommodation, however we provide the essentials to start your stay: toilet paper, toiletries, washing powder, cleaning gear, coffee, tea, eggs from our chooks when they are good to us. I am afraid the studio is not suitable for families with children. We offer only a short term accommodation, 7 days is the longest stay. Guest AccessWhen you find the letter box with our number, take a drive along the lane to our gate towards the house. We will meet you there unless other arrangements are in place. The lane leading to the house is a "right of way" and privacy of our neighbours needs to be respected. Interaction with GuestsWe will respect your privacy and will not interfere unless our help is required. Don't hesitate to contact Emily and Tatiana if you need help or advice about getting around. Other Things to NoteWe might need to work in the garden during your stay, but we will be very aware of your presence and your needs. The SpaceThis studio/apartment is a 'slice of heaven' and one half of a split level house with its' own separate entrance and patio. It is a Glenn Murcutt inspired wool shed jarrah pole framed house perched over Cox's Creek. It is made from hardwood, glass and corrugated iron. It has been described as an outside inside house as you are never sure where the house begins. It is at one with nature. It has its own entrance with beautiful elevated views of surrounding gardens, creek and lily pond. It is an 'escape for all seasons' in the very heart of Stirling. The creek that flows underneath can be heard gurgling below for 8-10 months of the year along with the frogs Guest AccessThis a beautifully energy infused, self contained space. A place, to hang your hat and put your feet up. On entry you walk through a Japanese inspired garden to your own under covered paved patio (with barbecue). You enter an L shaped space that contains a kitchenette and a lounge area that you can 'lounge' on. While on the lounge you look out through a wall of window to be amongst the trees and with a view down to the pond. The aspect is emotionally resting. The kitchenette has filtered water via the cold tap. You have 2 bedrooms and gorgeous bathroom that has a spa-bath. There are also laundry facilities in the bathroom tucked behind a sliding door. Separate toilet. Interaction with GuestsOur home is really a 'home' and guests and overseas visitors have always been an integral part of it. We are a happy, well travelled couple and have a wide diverse friendship group . We are open to share ideas, knowledge and experiences, especially over a glass of wine. We want your stay to be memorable. A home away from home The NeighborhoodStirling is a beautiful leafy village close to Adelaide. It was originally the "Hills" retreat for the early English aristocracy and is one of the few places in the world where you are in a pristine micro- climate surrounded by nature (no fences) and only 20 minutes to the centre of the city. The village of Stirling has a wide cuisine range of well priced restaurants sourcing produce from nearby farms. You can also have the joy of supping on organic coffee or chilli hot chocolates at one of the many cafes that infuse the village. It is a visitors joy and one of Adelaide's best kept secrets that has been let out of the bag. Many people from' The Plains'come up to Stirling to enjoy The Organic Market, buy fresh produce and shop in some unique homeware/clothing and furniture shops or visit many of the splendid wineries. Every month Stirling houses an award winning local market. It has around 80 stalls, which make, bake, grow or value add to the products sold. If you enjoy being outside, the Adelaide Hills abounds with some of the best bike riding paths, walking trails and artists inspired landscapes . Hans Heysen's home "The Cedars" is a 10 minute drive. The Mount Lofty Botanical Gardens only a hop, skip and jump away. The Hills houses many boutique shopping and gallery experiences. We are within walking distance of the Coventry Library, Stirling pub, restaurants and shops. Getting AroundBuses depart every half hour to the city which is a half hour journey. There are also buses departing every half hour venturing further into the hills and popular tourist sites including Hahndorf and Cleland National Park. Our house has limited parking which requires a 3-5 point turn around at the bottom of the driveway. The left hand side of the carport is always reserved for our guests. If you have 2 cars we would prefer if you parked one at the top of the driveway. Other Things to NoteThis house has a very calm energy to it . Would be a great space to be inspired to write, paint or draw. A place where people immediately feel they are on holidays when they enter. It is a "gift". This is a great 'kick off' place to stay in Adelaide. 20 minutes to City but centrally located to access both Adelaide Hills, Barossa Valley and Southern Vales wineries and galleries. The South Coast Scenic Drive to Victor Harbor is only a 50 minute drive.

A walk through Stirling will reveal many of these homes. The tree-lined main street, a riot of colour in both spring and autumn, has a good collection of cafes, restaurants and shops. Many of Stirling's magnificent 'English' gardens are accessible to visitors via the Open Garden Scheme. On the fourth Sunday of each month Druids Avenue is closed off for the Stirling Market, with local produce, plants and homemade wares, the atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable. Competitive hire car rates are available through several Adelaide car hire companies. Test out Uber and see what is on offer. Other Things to NoteAppleton House is located in bushland in the Adelaide Hills (Mt Lofty Ranges region) which is a bushfire prone area. Visitors to our region should be alert to the possibility of bushfires, particularly during the summer months and on days with high temperatures, high wind, and low humidity. For the safety of guests, conditions apply to the use of the property on total fire ban days. Based on Government of South Australia's Country Fire Service (CFS) – (URL HIDDEN) – bushfire danger advice, we suggest visitors find entertainment and leisure in bushfire safer places such as Stirling or the City of Adelaide, on total fire ban days rated as Severe or Extreme, returning in the evening only if it is safe to do so. If guests arrive for their stay on a Severe or Extreme rated day we recommend guests delay check-in until the evening and then only if it is safe to do so. Owing to the safety risk, on a day of Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating, the property will NOT be available for ANY access including over-night accommodation for the night of that Catastrophic Fire Danger Rated Day, even if guests have a confirmed booking for the night. In this circumstance, alternative accommodation must be found. The hosts will fully refund any accommodation payments received from guests for that night’s booking. If a Catastrophic rated day occurs during the guests’ stay, the CFS recommends people leave bushfire-prone areas the night before OR as early as possible on a day of Catastrophic fire danger Rating. The hosts will be pleased to provide guests with information about alternative accommodation options in the city of Adelaide which is a bushfire safer place. If arriving in Adelaide from interstate or overseas between November-May guests are advised to check the CFS website – (URL HIDDEN) – for the bushfire danger rating applying to your day of arrival. The Alert SA app will also provide you with up to date information on bushfire danger alerts or events as will the local ABC radio. It is your responsibility to know your risk and what you need to do to stay safe in the event of a bushfire.
